What is wrong with this site?

This is directed to admins and mods, to leakers, and to these vultures who think they are entitled to Coldplay's private stuff

 

Firstly to the mods: You guys are actively promoting discussion of leaks and where to find them. Even letting leakers run through this site with no consequence. You think blocking the title of the website and actual sharing of leaks makes it all okay. It's not. If I were you, I'd delete all threads about leaks, it makes this community so much better. There is drama every single day. Surely you're tired of it. We're all tired of it. Do better.

Now the leakers. We all know why you do this. You have nothing interesting in your life so you want to beg for attention by leaking private songs. It's wrong. Some of you are over the age of 20 and still don't know how to grow up. You're just nothing but embarrassing. Do everyone a favour and fuck off.

Everyone else, I know you love hearing these songs but egging leakers on is truly wrong. If you want to hear these songs so bad go get a job at your local diner and buy them like the real collectors do. It's truly depressing to see so many people foaming at the mouth for a new Coldplay song. It's pathetic.

 

If I get banned for posting this. So be it. It will only prove my point further. This website needs help.

I don't go to this site for leaks but I 50% agree with this. I think leaking old takes of songs and songs that aren't going to ever be released are ok. But leaking new music that has a good chance of being on a future album is not.

I might do that tbh, the good parts of this website have been replaced with slaves to the leaks

Look, I'm going to be the bigger man here and give you the benefit of the doubt. You've been friendly in the past and have provided us with some valuable information. You said sharing leaks in the past was stupid, but honestly you'll probably look back at your behaviour in the last few days and consider that stupid as well. Sometimes you need to recognise things in life which are provoking toxic behaviour and step away for a bit, do some self care. That way you can come back and approach things with a fresh mind. 

I understand right now this is a shit situation for you. People are starting to leak things you own which you strongly feel shouldn't be leaked. If I was in your position, I'd be upset too. But the toothpaste is out of the tube now, and there's nothing you can do about it. So take some time away to process your feelings on the situation and come back when you're ready. Or if you feel like this environment is a constant detriment to your mental health, it's fine if you decide not to come back. But there's no harm in stepping aside and cooling down when things get too much.

Just for clarification, while I've been involved with the mentioned threads from the beginning, I have not leaked any songs myself. I'll summarise my response to the OP below:

• Coldplaying have not encouraged or promoted the leaking of songs. For the most part the remaining leak threads (the first one was shut down) do not break any of the site's rules and when users do the threads are tidied very quickly. We do not mention the name of the site in publicly available threads, we do not share the songs in those threads, and those asking where to find them are answered in private messages.
• We, as users, do not have a moral duty to protect the copyright of Coldplay. It is worth noting that the copyright holders of the leaked songs have (as far as we are aware) only been chasing after the site, the people who have leaked music or are alleged to have done so, and not Coldplaying as a site, for good reason. The only reason we listen to the leaks is because we like Coldplay and like the music (well, not all of it, but that's besides the point). None of this is out of spite for Coldplay, obviously.
• The argument that Coldplay are being stolen from is flaky. While they did not intend for us to have these songs, that in itself is not a good enough reason to not listen to them. Keep in mind that the members of Coldplay are unbelievably rich, more than most of us ever will be, and lose nothing from the leaks being heard by a comparatively very small portion of their fanbase. Just because I may have heard some or most of the songs from Moon Music already, does not mean I won't be buying it... Because I'll be buying the deluxe version regardless.
• Additionally, the leaks of older demos, especially the ones of the songs that are unlikely to ever release and be considered preservation. Assuming the newly leaked version of Weirdo is what we're going to get eventually, I am grateful that the significantly superior Everyday Life version has been leaked and therefore preserved.
• Finally, it is quite cheeky of you to complain about the leaks despite allegedly being one of the leakers yourself.
