Singer Nelly Furtado stunned a journalist quizzing her about her friendship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin - by losing her temper.   The singer - who gave birth to her daughter in September 2003 - enjoyed a string of romantic dates with the Chris Martin before he went on to find happiness with new wife Gwyneth Paltrow.   So when the roving reporter asked if Nelly had remained in contact with Martin - who is now the proud father of baby Apple - Nelly happily replied, "Yeah, we speak all the

For some, it's the skull ring he wears on one of his recent albums that gives him away. For others, it's the guitar pick that ranchera singer Pepe Aguilar uses to play the metal strings on his instrument. It's a subtle yet striking detail for an artist who appears on the covers of his album dressed as a charro, surrounded by mariachis, horses and tequila. The truth is, this singer has a rock 'n' roll soul.   Sure, Aguilar can talk for hours about ranchera music, especially about his famous pare

Brandy's new album 'Afrodisiac' features a sample of Iron Maiden's 'The Clansman'. The song 'I Tried' starts with a loop of the 'The Clansman' from their 1998 'Virtual XI' album.   The song, originally recorded with the working titled 'Coldplay', also features lyrics from Coldplay's 'Sparks'.   The Brandy song starts "I'm sittin' home on a cold day / Underneath the covers like a little baby I think I wanna hear some Coldplay/ Especially that song where the man says / "Did I drive you away? Keane are at the forefront of a growing number of British groups whose songs centre on the rich, timeless tones of the piano. The inspiration for this new trend is Coldplay, whose singer Chris Martin spends the majority of any given concert not throwing rock-god shapes with a guitar, but comfortably ensconced on a stool.   Read the full article here.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers hit Californication has been voted the best album of the last 10 years.   Oasis smash (What's the Story) Morning Glory (1995) came second in the poll.   Californication was released five years ago and has gone on to sell more than 15 million copies for the American rock band, who first emerged in 1983. Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) takes third place, in front of the album Irish legends U2 released in the same year, All that You Can't Leave Behind.   Coldp

Gwyneth Paltrow prefers playing Mozart to baby Apple than husband Chris Martin's Coldplay tracks. The Sun says plays classical tunes to help the five-week old sleep. Coldplay songs are allowed - but only occasionally, and with the volume turned down.   A friend says: "Gwyneth wants Apple to appreciate classical music. Mozart is on most of the time - with a teeny bit of Coldplay, but only softly."   The star has reportedly even taken to putting a DVD of her film Shakespeare in Love on when she go

Coldplay's Chris Martin has done an interview with Elbow frontman Guy Garvey in which (alongside some very good natured mutually appreciative back slippery) is the news that Garvey is hoping to work with Jane Birkin.   The interview has surfaced on Coldplay's official website recently appeared in the painfully fashionable Andy Warhol-lauched US style mag ‘Interview’. Just days after the European launch of Apple Computers’ online music store, a chorus of customers are voicing their complaints.   There are also doubts over Apple’s claims of having more than 700,000 tracks on iTunes, with just four records in the current Top 10 available for purchase. Furthermore, big name artists such as Coldplay, Oasis and David Gray are conspicuous by their absence - despite being available on the US store. The lack of songs from artists on independent record labels - which a

NEW YORK (Friday 18th June) - Franz Ferdinand are hot - in just about every sense of the word. Not only are they the hot buzz-band of the moment, not only is their debut album beginning to heat up the charts, not only are they boy-band cute; they were completely drenched in sweat for this jam-packed show on an incredibly humid evening.   The Webster Hall crowd was teeming with feverish anticipation for these Glaswegian post-punkers. Hipsters were dressed in full regalia, the female contingent wa

An interesting article can be read here - about the bands that are likely to make such an impact as Coldplay have.IT'S BEEN about four years since a little-known four-man band from London, England, called Coldplay crept into the indie soundscape. At the time, I had just retired my glowsticks, so to speak, and the sobriety of Coldplay's breakthrough ballad "Yellow" was sound advice for a generation that wanted badly to crawl out of its k-hole. The refreshingly contemplative debut CD "Parachutes"
