I have never received a Coldplay gift :( nor do I know anyone in real life who I could give one to.

Same for me. Sometimes I find myself listening to one of the better AHFOD songs like Birds or Fun and thinking "Well, it's not that bad after all !" But then the next time I listen to something from the pre-Parachutes, Parachutes, AROBTTH or X&Y Era the music touches me on an entirely different level and then I find myself thinking "No, nothing compares to this after all !"

Agree with that, but it's annoying that this article bashes all of Coldplay's work again as bland. Is there no journalist in the world who values their earlier work at least ?

I hate it when Coldplay's lyrics are bashed (although I agree that those of AHFOD are not really good) but wow, all the hate in this thread towards the reviewer...calm down...

Hi all, I think @gentleparachute should be voted Friendliest User 2015 ! In a year marked by a lot of fighting between fans preferring Coldplay's earlier work and fans preferring Coldplay's newer direction in music, gentleparachute showed an incredible amount of understanding for both sites. Her posts were always very well thought out and written in a considerate way so it wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings, and although I did not always share her opinions, I always deeply appreciated her nice and considerate - in short, friendly - posts on the forum. Vote gentleparachute for Friendliest User 2015 !

There is a category "Best thread of 2015 - Coldplay section" Since a lot of us really love this thread and some even said it's their favourite part of Coldplaying, I was just thinking... Shall we try to set a mark and vote the Oldplaying thread for best thread of 2015 ? Let me know your thoughts ! If yes, we should start campaigning :p

Welcome to the thread ! I think Chris has changed a lot and they are unlikely to return to their roots anytime soon. By that I mean, within the next 20 years. They may change and evolve again as they grow older but it will take a long time till we see something notably different. Since the band doesn't like to revisit sounds and styles of the past, it's unlikely they will go completely back to the roots but who knows if we won't get something rockier in the far future (if they still exist as a band then).
