So I carefully watched the concert and interview again, and came to that conclusion: The new song was not called off spontaneously, it was just never meant to be performed today. Today was Coldplay's first teaser for the new Era, in form of clothes and stage design. Tbh, I think the same will apply for the Global Citizen Set, which is just not a suitable place to premiere your new single either. So don't get your hopes up for next week. However, things are certainly moving - the design today will turn into a website redesign and FB theme redesign and the new Era will probably flood in during the next weeks. I actually enjoyed watching the concert (not so much the interview) until the point where ASFOS came in, and I guess many of you will have felt the same. Until then i liked the set, and that was a very good mix of Paradise !! I was positively surprised by the appearance of Fix You. Because to be honest, no matter how upbeat the song before was, that organ intro to Fix You still always manages to get tears into my eyes, and that's what is so great about them.

Gravity and What If are both amazing and underrated songs, don't kill them :cry:

That interview was very low-level. I'm also not trying to sound elitist here, as another forum member has written too, but it is targeted towards a teenie Kanye-ASFOS-OneDirection type crowd.

Yeah, I like those atmospheres they created in earlier eras ! What I love even more than tahat is the intro to this rendition ! Coldplay's Pink floyd Moment :)

And that as an Oldplayer...I feel with you, my friend ;) ASFOS is annoying as hell. Totally overrated by the band (or more likely, by Chris)

i noticed that too, gives a quite different feel to their songs when that occurs. I also liked the mix in today's performance, it was different than usual but cool.

yeah all these "coldplay are boring where is Kanye2020 KANYE2020 KANYE2020 KANYE2020 KANYE2020 yeah JAZZZON DERULO" comments...well, not everyone is blessed with a taste for true musical talent, dear Coldplayer friends ;)

AFAIK he always sounds like that. Although his singing abilities don't seem to be that bad, his songs are awful. And his falsetto i weirdly high-pitched. Actually, there is just one single male falsetto in the whole world that i like listening to...guess which one.

I stepped into a supermarket today and guess what was playing ? THE HARDEST PART. So cool to hear a non-superhit Coldplay song make it to a shop playlist for once...

The melody is arguably not very elaborate though, like Til Kingdom Come it feels a bit like a nursery rhyme (especially in combination with the cringeworthy lyrics...) :-/ Things I don't understand is a great song ! Just listen to that melody.

I don't know what was the purpose of performing. Surely they didn't need the peanut sum of 12 million bucks, so why did they come to a showcasing festival with NEW attire, NEW stage design but NO NEW song ??? And by the way, crowd was not ideal (more excited for the likes of Kanye and Derulo, I guess) and the festival technology messed up the Viva back track....

and they actually used the end in reverse (which sounds amazing) as filling material between tracks in the Twisted Logic tour...
