I was actually curious if there might be more guitar playing in Hypnotised than that we actually hear :D So... I've been listening very very carefully to the song and I have to say that there is someone playing an acoustic guitar (probably Chris or Jonny) which is hidden behind all those other sounds. You probably noticed there is an acoustic guitar playing during the first time when Chris sings ''Now I'm hyp, hypnotised, yeah I trip when I look in your eyes, oh I'm hyp, hypnotised''. After that, when Will comes in, the acoustic guitar is pretty much not to hear anymore, except for some moments. It starts from 2:34. I noticed that in between there is a small riff being played on the acoustic guitar, 5 times in total. One at 2:35 - same one at 2:39 - again the same one at 2:47. Now a different one with higher notes at 2:51 and this same riff again at 2:55. As a fan of Jonny's, I would say almost certainly that Jonny's the one that wrote this small riffs in between the song. Think about Violet Hill or Everglow. What I'm trying to say is, that I think that those riffs are typical Jonny. And there is more acoustic guitar during the ''threading the needle.....'' part. (not quite sure how you call this part of the song), about 2:58 ---- 3:27. And after this, not very clear, there are just chords being played (on the acoustic guitar).

There was also this interview which is very old . It was filmed in 2001. There was also a Coldplay jam session with Jonny playing the drums (you reminded me of it because of the The Nappies video:D) Look at around 0:51 I also remember Jonny saying that he secretly wants to be a drummer if they would switch roles !

If you use Google Chrome there are options to change the speed of a YouTube video. I am listening and watching the video of Hypnotised right now while putting the speed at 1.25 (no, there isn't a 1.36 option unfortunately:D) Playing the video with 1.25 as its speed, I must say it sounds very upbeat, not bad.
