1. Hi all, In the Netherlands at the end of the year we have since 1999 the Top 2000 at NPO Radio 2. This is a list of the best 2000 songs ever, as voted by the (dutch) listeners. This is the most popular list (gets the most media attention) in the Netherlands and last year Fix You reached an all time high in this list at place number 5. Off course we would love to see a Coldplay song at the number 1 spot! So, I need your help/vote! Got to https://stem.nporadio2.nl/top2000-2023/1/ and cast your vote. The site is in dutch, but hopefully, most of you understand what needs to be done. I just tested with a VPN set to location UK and it seemed to work, so hopefully the same goes for you. Step 1 is filling your favorite songs (Minimum 5, maximum 35 and off course Fix You!!! 😁), by typing in the search field and adding the song with the '+'. Once you have sufficient songs, you can go to the next step 2. Step 2 Is where you can fill the motivation, but that's entirely optional Step 3 Is where you need to fill your Name and Mailadress and agree to the terms and conditions (the one check box at the bottom). The rest is optional Step 4 Is confirming your choices by mail (check spam and it might take a few minutes) That's it Please don't vote for the following songs, as they are the ones which compete with Fix You for the top spot: Queen Bohemian Rhapsody Eagles Hotel California Billy Joel Piano Man Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven Pearl Jam Black Metallica Nothing Else Matters Queen Love of My Life Pink Floyd Wish you Were here Guns 'N Roses November Rain Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb Thanks in advance!!!
2. O (Reprise) vs Twisted Logic
3. I really think it's kinda funny when I read that they want to stay 'the greatest band in the world' and that they only make music which is interesting to the people nowadays. A lot of the mentioned critics do refer to that as well. IMHO: You don't know/understand Chris, Will, Guy and Jonny well, because with everything they say and do they point out not giving a rat's @ss about that. They just want to make music they love, with whoever they like and don't care about the haters.
4. Ink vs Spies
5. Midnight vs Glass of Water
6. My first take on this album: Mylo Xyloto 2.0 To begin with the cons: It sometimes feels 'overly produced'. Why do they add so much 'bells and whistles' to their songs nowadays? This is the same I felt when I first heard Higher Power. I prefer a more clean version, staying closer to their roots, while still exploring new ideas. The absolute low point is Biutyful with the same distorted voice we could hear on Everyday Life. If it had less bells and whistles like MX I probably would have liked this album even more. The pros: Despite it sometimes sounds 'overly produced' the balance is quite well, using a similar intro as Mylo Xyloto's similar named opening song with an also short similar named song Music of the Spheres. All this followed with an uplifting number Higher Power/Hurts Like Heaven after which a variety of songs that sometimes somewhat resemble the vibe of songs from MX: MX 5th song Us against the World vs MotS 5th Let Somebody Go and MX 8th song: Major Minus vs MotS 7th song People of the Pride. Finalizing the album with a more Ghost Stories end with Coloratura. My instant personal favorite being People of the Pride really stands out from the rest, but never a real dissonant. While Higher Powers catchy tunes and lyrics linger in your head like Para-para-paradise, I might even enjoy My Universes' collab more than MX's Princess of China (don't tell my son as that is one of his most favorite Coldplay songs). My first verdict: 6.8 (out of 10)
7. I'd say One I love, Lost or Politik, but preferably all 3! :P
8. Darn it, they just changed it. It seems they are no longer selling tickets in presale to American Express owners. If you go back one page (click on 'COLDPLAY' behind Homepage > Muziek > Rock/Pop) you now see only the sale for tomorrow. Yesterday and this morning this was different. It said: In de verkoop vanaf wo, 25/11/2015 9:00
9. @Everyone: If you follow this link http://www.ticketmaster.nl/event/coldplay-support-act-tickets/156251?language=nl-nl you can check to process yourself. You can check every step of the process (don't forget to scroll down on the first page and use the dropdown menu (standard is Best available/Best beschikbaar)) until you have to pay for the tickets, because at that moment only American Express is available. But for the rest, everybody can see for themselves.
10. The floor plan: From the dropdown menu (I wrote this in a hurry): 410/416/426/112-116/812/816/411-415/427-430 60,50 euro 409/401-403/417/418/423-425/408/825/829 71,50 euro 002/101/102/010/110/111/018/023/117/118/419-422/404-407/123-129 82,50 euro 003-008/103-108/200-235/300-331/019/021/119-122/501/514/601-614/020 + standing 86,90 euro I bought 4 tickets for 403 and had to pay a total of 296,01 euro. Sorry, don't need to contact me to buy all/some, it's for me, my wife and 2 friends.
11. Too bad there is no way to tell the difference between the types of tickets (besides standing vs seated). I would have loved a map or something with colored parts to see where you pay what. When actually buying you don't have the luxury to find out, because of you wait 1 second to long, the tickets will be sold out.
12. Ah, so true, that's why I wrote this, but then confused the title of that song with 'Lost!' Thank you!
13. It seems to me that Adele's upcoming album release is making the entire music world Shiver and it is all they Talk about. But I don't understand why Coldplay would follow the behaviour like, for example, Justin Bieber (changing his album release date). I am not a Scientist, but if they make an album with a similar quality to Ghost Stories they can be a bit in Trouble with their album sales. But if they make an album with similar quality to A Rush of Blood to the Head then I would say: Don't Panic, everything is not Lost! Then for Adele it Hurts like Heaven and all her dreams will go Up in Flames and it doens't matter whether her album is called 19, 21, 25, 27 or 42 for all I care. The Hardest Part will be that they must do their Magic and let their fans experience Paradise with the new songs. In My Place I will be anxiously waiting for A Head Full of Dreams looking at the Clocks while time passes by. Waiting till Midnight to see A Sky Full of Stars and then go to bed. Then the next day waiting for the moment that God put a Smile Upon Your Face because the AHFOD is finally here!
