He wants taxes to go higher so his fellow bankers will continue to grow richer on interest payments. But "Los Indignados" don't understand this... they would be much better off if Spain defaults and stops paying interest. It's very common sense - why pay tax money on interest when you can use it to pay for bridges, doctors, schools, etc? Even socialists should understand this!

I've only very jaded following my own country's reaction to terrorism, and I love Norway (and the Scandinavian countries in general) - so I was (am) scared at what this event would mean for your future liberties.

Well I won't post to debate with anyone anymore, but I'll say that I'm keenly aware my views are unpopular. What I'm criticizing here aren't the Norwegian people, just the lax response by the government. Immediately following 9/11, I likely would have been quite offended if someone were criticizing George Bush or the CIA for failing to see that possibility and preparing for it. I've never been to Norway, but I've got a good friend who lives there (Josh can attest to this), and I hosted his family for a week while they were here on vacation in the US last summer. But this isn't really relevant, except to show that I'm not some right wing gun nut who's mad at the Labor party. ;) Open borders are a wonderful thing. Good question. Gold will go up regardless of whether the deal goes through or not: 1. Deal goes through (debt ceiling raised), gold will go up. The deals they're discussing don't really cut enough from the budget to make a difference (you'd need to slash the total Federal spending by 50% just to sustain the currently $14 trillion debt level we currently have). 2. Deal doesn't go through (bond market collapses), gold goes up. The only way gold won't hit $3000 is if Ron Paul is elected Supreme Dictator of Earth, and the odds of that are insanely low. Until then, hold on to the physical coins and jewelry, because it'll be a wild ride. And owning silver is a great idea too. Citigroup (yes the bank) recently released a report from a couple of their analysts saying silver could hit 100 bucks soon (currently at 40).

I don't believe this guy's claim that there are two more cells working with him. He's trying to start a political movement in Norway, and in order to do that he will claim to have more support than he actually does. Plus, if there really were two more cells planning another attack, why would he alert the police to this fact? He's an idiot.

Well that's nice that you think that, but it's not a logical thought pattern. In fact it's very strange. How can the government compensate the families of the dead for their failure to protect them? Maybe they won't have to pay income tax next year! Such a small concession by the government would be greatly appreciated by those mourning the deaths of their children. Somehow I doubt it will even be offered, though.

Notice the way elites use this incident. People who advocate localized sovereignty (nationalists) will be marginalized, and you'll see greater acceptance of centralization of power. We saw it after the McVeigh bombing here in the US. Also, it should be really interesting to see if the media are allowed much access to this guy or his family. Will he be treated as a terrorist? Or given a fair trial? Lots of interesting questions...
