  1. A handsome dude who might be able to help me with my Italian homework.
  2. I love the artwork, I love the new song title "A Spell A Rebel Yell". Props to whoever's doing Coldplay's art direction this time around, it's phenomenal.
  3. Well hey it's probably not their fault, it's their advertising agent! I didn't realize they even did any advertising (seeing as how I rarely go to very many music sites) but I agree it's annoying when music starts playing automatically on a website. Plus I listen to all my music with Sennheiser HD595 headphones, so 32kbps would sound like absolute crap to me.
  4. I just found out about this electro-pop Aussie band yesterday and they're already among my top bands of all time - they've got a unique sound with catchy tunes that don't get old. Here's a video for their single "Lights and Music" off their new album:

Mutemath is good. My favorite songs are Chaos, Stare at the Sun, and Typical (Discovery Channel actually used Typical in some of their commercials recently). I think they've got a unique sound.
  6. That's annoying how people say Coldplay songs all sound the same - well, if you're going to be that general, then so do all Muse songs. And all Keane songs, and all Rammstein songs... etc. What really irritates me, too, is when people say Coldplay sounds like Radiohead. You've got to be borderline deaf to make that association. :P
  7. Hey! Ladies get drunk too, you know. :P
  8. Dunno if anyone's posted this yet, but Cut Copy's CD "In Ghost Colours" is freaking awesome. :)
  9. Please make another Parachutes. Don't get me wrong - I love Rush of Blood just as much as Parachutes, but for different reasons. Each are superbly good at what they do. From the tracks I've heard on X&Y, I'm inclined to believe Coldplay are attempting to become even more "epic" (or "mega" as alot of you have jokingly said, using Chris's own word). And that's cool, but there needs to be room in there for some of the old-fashioned slow-paced guitar-driven stuff like Sparks. Not EVERY song has to be euphoric or climax to the stratosphere (like What If). Certainly, some people here will disagree with me, or indicate that Coldplay are attempting to stake out new ground. And that's cool, but I'd prefer if they'd mix their albums up - with the epic and the slow. Right now it sounds like X&Y will be nothing but epic (even Til Kingdom Come is said to be fast-paced). It's hard for me to imagine a band reverting back to slow-paced songwriting after two albums of mega - but if X&Y does really well, the band might be inclined to continue on this path. I don't know Chris's psychology.
  10. Seems like lately Coldplay have been interested in revitalizing Warning Sign, as they've been playing it at many of their recent gigs. I'm all for it!
  11. Anti-art on the cover of a highly artistic achievement like a Coldplay CD? Doesn't sound likely. That's basically the opposite of what E.S. Posthumus are doing with the cover of their album (as seen in Eagle's avatar).
  12. Isn't it just as snobbish to judge an album cover's artwork so seriously? I mean, come on. I think 90% of the reason the decided to go with this oddball cover has to do with the fact that it's easily recognizable, even from a distance. Think about Parachutes and Rush of Blood's covers - you could spot them a mile away, even among all those other CDs at Best Buy! This is a marketing strategy that relies on two things - a sense of mystery and irreducable complexity.
  13. Awesome reviews, guys. Thanks a ton for the pics and summary! So the songs nobody has heard yet include: Twisted Logic, Swallowed in the Sea, and The Hardest Part. And I'm sure all three of these will be great as well!
  14. Clocks: Night in a small city, probably coastal. (definitely something with water) Yellow: Grandma's house (because this is where I first heard it in a music video - my first glimse of coldplay back in 98) High Speed: Swimming underwater. Summertime. Taking it easy. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face: A storm with lightening and wind. Daylight: Driving fast through the desert (route 66) Don't Panic: a depressed person being encouraged by a friend One I Love: A rockin Coldplay concert! Murder: An escaped prisoner trying to get through the woods without being caught. Crest of Waves: Surfing.
  15. Is that a confirmation or do you think they just copied the track list from the Sun? I'm still curious as to what happened to "The Hardest Part" and "Til Kingdom Come".
  16. Would someone who was so fortunate to recieve it from another good soul forward it to me? Much appreciated! [email protected]
