request: chords for "a message"
Use standard tuning, put a capo on the first fret, then play these chords: My song is love, is love C a G Love to the lovely song C a G And it goes on C a G You don't have to be alone F C G etc.... In the chorus it goes And I'm not gonna stand and wait d C G etc., I am nothing on my own F C G And so forth until the end, which goes like this: My song is love, is love unknown F C G a And I've got to get that message home F C G C Hope this helps!! :)

NME interview
Has anyone noticed this on the german Coldplay website linked above? The tracklisting is in columns: X1. Square One Y1. Speed Of Sound X2. What If? Y2. A Message X3. White Shadows Y3. Low X4. Fix You Y4. The Hardest Part X5. Talk Y5. Swallowed In The Sea X6. X&Y Y6. Twisted Logic Looks like the album's in two parts, the first 6 tracks representing x and the last 6 representing y ... remember the thing about tension of opposites? Perhaps the first half is pessemism (with the dark Square One, insecure What If and Talk) and the second half (with the optimistic Speed of Sound, love song A Message etc.) is optimism. Or maybe there's a different meaning. Maybe it's nothing ... but I think I'm onto something!! :idea2:

Have Coldplay lost it?
Bloody hell, some people are impossible to please! "Speed of Sound" absolutely blew me away, to me it's their best song ever not including "Clocks" ... and it's only the first single. "Talk" is a cracker too, and I haven't even heard the proper finished version yet. The best active band in the world today produces what is almost undoubtedly going to be one of the best albums ever, and everyon'es worried their losing their emotion? Actually many people criticize Coldplay for being soppy and over-emotional. Most mainstream music is tragically lacking in emotion anyway. The fact is that Coldplay simply make great music and always will. I have faith in Coldplay and so far they have never disappointed me. I nearly cried when I heard Talk and SOS — in my opinion they surpass almost everything the band has done before and their only a taste of what is to come (that is, over an hour of the greatest music ever). I think listening to the album through for the first time will be one of the best feelings I've ever had. I can't wait, hang in there and I promise you won't be disappointed! :)

I Figured out the Artwork!
Cool, so cool! :) Before the artwork was released someone wrote on the forum that they hoped it wasn't just a big "X&Y" on the front. Well it turns out it is, but not in the way we expected! Seeing as the colours are unrelated to the actual code, maybe the put the MTF logo in there just for fun? :D

I'm in love with The Speed Of Sound..
Hey, you have Square One? What's it like? Do you have the studio version or the live verison? (I don't want to listen to it yet cos I want to be in suspense, but I really want to know what it's like!!)

I Figured out the Artwork!
Hmm ... I'm wondering how the code's actually going to be revealed. Maybe the first three singles will contain all the letters needed to crack it, and the fourth one will contain the actual code ... I assume What If is gonna be a single, so then we'd have these letters: X & Y S P E D O F O U W H A T I F As well as the third single??? Maybe they'll release a special image which includes all the columns and reveals the message?? Maybe if you turn the covers 90 degrees you get the message?? Or maybe we're supposed to crack the code with what we've got now?? Just by recombining the letters at random?? Or maybe what we've just found IS the code, there's nothing more to it!! When did CP say they'd tell everyone the answer? I wann know!! :) :idea2:

Your FIRST COLDPLAY moment...ever!!!!
It was when they were in Sydney in July 2003, I saw their ads on tv a few times, and obviously I'd heard the tune of "Clocks", then I saw Chris Martin on Rove Live ... But the real moment for me was when I first heard The Scientist on the radio in September. I was just like, "woah". I'd never heard a Coldplay song from beginning to end before. :)

I'm in love with The Speed Of Sound..
Woah dude, do you have the studio version of Speed of Sound? If you do could you please send it to me at [email protected]? I've only got the live one!

Australia
I hope they come to Australia soon! I've missed them five times, last time they came I hadn't even heard of them! Plus, I'm going to Scotland in July but I've found I arrive in Edinburgh 2 days after they leave! Still, when I eventually see them it'll be so cool!

Oh Chrisss!!!
Man that sounds like 00s Tom Waits. (I am kidding).

piano playing
Actually, I think the almost the whole CD of AROBTTH is slightly below concert pitch, so if you try to play along on the piano it sounds terrible. Really annoying. It's kinda strange they did it like that ... especially with moving between studios and all, they would have had to tune all the pianos down and reprogram the synths and stuff. Or maybe they finished it and tuned the whole thing down a teeny weeny bit for some myseterious reason. :o

WHERE THE HEEEEELLLL ARE COLDPLAAAYY...
I live in Australia! They're never gonna come here! Sad story: The Hordern Pavilion where they did the DVD is 5 minutes from my house. Believe it or not, when they came in July 2003 I'd never heard of them, and I was like "meh, coldplay ... what a depressing name ... can't be good." Now every time I walk past there I cry.
-
do you ever get made fun of for liking coldplay?
Never. Anyway, making fun of someone cos of the music they like is really immature. To each their own. (I'm also a mac user and all my friends are very cool surfers who use macs and listen to Coldplay!) :)

SPEED OF SOUND AIRWAVES DATE
Yep, I've got it! :D Wooohoooooo!!!! Yeah!!!! The quality's crap but the song rocks!!!!!!! But seriously, go on Limewire, you'll find it in seconds. Or email me on [email protected] and I'll send it to you. I think it was at the KCRW sounds eclectic evening. You can also get Square One and a bunch of others on Limewire, but I haven't because I want to be in suspense. Talking of which I emailed the head of programming at Nova 969 in Sydney, he says they're playing it from 7AM tuesday - ie just minutes after Steve Lamacq plays it in Britain! Can't wait to hear Coldplay on the radio again! The song is great, it's totally epic and amazing! And they say this isn't even the best on the album!!

Speed Of Sound B-Sides
I wrote it!! Ha ha!! I just wrote this Wikipedia article today. I don't know about the tracklisting (I didn't write that), but I did write this: Beginning with a piano riff reminsicent of Coldplay's "Clocks", the song builds into a huge, synth-heavy chorus: "Birds go flying at the speed of sound, to show you where it all began/Birds come flying from the underground, if you could see it then you'd understand." I know this cos I've heard the song!! Try LimeWire everyone, you'll find live bootleg versions of Square One, Speed of Sound and a whole lot of others. (I haven't heard Square One yet though cos I want to keep myself in suspense). Speed of Sound is so amazing! It's even better than Talk! I almost cried when I heard it! It's got huge hit written all over it! Get it now, it'll send shivers down your spine! (Or just wait four days and it'll be on the radio). Coldplay is back people, and better than ever. :)
