Here's the article for those who haven't seen it http://ajournalofmusicalthings.com/fun-with-metrics-coldplay-is-bigger-than-the-beatles-heres-why-and-how/ It's obviously kind of a bull**** metric because surely if Spotify existed in the 1960s, The Beatles would be pretty damn popular. Coldplay are reaping the benefits of being a popular band living in the music streaming era. The Beatles haven't existed since before compact discs. Lol But it's cool that Coldplay are the number one British band on Spotify!

Plus Kanye thinks Coldplay is better than The Beatles so it must be true!
  4. I saw Imagine Dragons this evening. It was a very good concert. The visuals and overall energy was great. 2 things as it relates to Coldplay- -The energy of the lead singer is what makes a great rock concert. If the frontman is just going through the motions, the concert comes off as very unconvincing. Dan Reynolds (the frontman) reminds me of Chris. Even though neither of them are notable dancers or musical "prodigies", they get by on emotional vocals and stage presence/energy. Not surprising since Dan says he was inspired by Coldplay (Parachutes specifically). -After seeing this concert, still nothing else compares (;)) to a Coldplay concert. It makes me appreciate everything Coldplay puts into a concert more after seeing other concerts.
  5. I could write an essay about why being in the paparazzi is the worst career on the planet.
  6. We'll never know if that's real or not. But, it wouldn't be the first time he flipped out on someone invading his privacy. :joy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIk3SuGGrY0
  7. Ever since you posted this, I've been thinking about whether or not you can tell if Chris had plastic surgery. It's really difficult to tell, because Chris has certainly become more attractive over time. Even a straight guy like I can see that. lol I think it's definitely clear that he has had some sort of hair transplant. The dude was balding in the Rush of Blood era, but quickly, and magically, developed luscious curly hair, even as he is into his 40s. As for the plastic surgery, I really don't blame celebrities (and other people who's lives somewhat depend on their appearance) for getting plastic surgery. They have the money, and have a very short window of appearing youthful and attractive. Being a movie star or front man in an international rock band sometimes requires a youthful look. If a movie star ages, getting plastic surgery to keep him/her getting big roles isn't a bad thing. I think people misinterpret that these people's lives depends on their appearance sometimes.
  8. What an awesome interview haha, I had not seen that before. Very refreshing after listening to so many monotonous interviewers ask about Beyonce and Gwyneth.
  9. It would be very surprising. Coldplay are under contract with Parlophone for another couple albums. The management have stated they are taking a break and plan to come back with something really special, and would tour in 2021 at the earliest. I'd bet my life savings that Chris doesn't come out with a solo album between now and the next Coldplay project.
  10. Casual work boots=..... folk album? Americana?
  11. That's not good. I'd say Jonny's hands are on the top 10 things necessary to make a Coldplay album.

Wow, I genuinely love this! May I ask what specific effects did you do for this one? I can hear the main pulse of Midnight at a higher pitch. Brian Eno would be proud haha
  13. Chris bought some olive oil at the grocery store with Dakota Johnson on Sunday while Guy was driving around vintage cars in Italy.

    What is your Midnight Project?
  15. It's literally just Chris playing a few chords over and over again, yet you feel the exact emotion he is trying to convey. Incredibly talented human. Or is this pretty much just Jon Hopkins reworking something from Major Minus? Do we have the full story on this track?
  16. Zero Theory replied to Coeurli's topic in Fun
I was just going to ask if you had seen Midnight reversed, but then I saw you had commented on it on YouTube already haha. This one might be my favorite reversed.
  17. It's such a good song. In my top 10 by them.
  18. Well just shows how much I know about award shows. Forget me. But hey, at least they won something! Honestly though, how did they not win either of the touring categories? I guess U2 had slightly better grossing numbers in 2017 alone...
  19. Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground I love Rainy Day- I also love how it's such a polarizing song in the community lol
  20. I just discovered that the red and blue bands Chris wore on his fingers during the X&Y era is supposed to represent the album artwork.

It's kind of a weird English phrase I don't even know why I used it :joy: Basically I'm just saying that I don't find a bunch of the AHFOD songs to be nearly as good or enjoyable as most of the band's previous songs. And yes music is 100% subjective. The beauty of music is that you can love AHFOD while I can not love AHFOD, and neither of us are right or wrong!
  22. Zero Theory replied to Coeurli's topic in Fun
I can't speak for others that don't like AHFOD, but I think the reason I don't like a lot of songs on AHFOD is because they completely pale in comparison to Coldplay's previous work. It's not that Fun and Army of One and Amazing Day are bad songs, they just don't live up to most of their previous music, in my opinion. I will say, the title track and Birds are as good as Coldplay get. The rest of the album doesn't nearly live up to those first 2 songs for me. The album is on such a great trajectory from those 2 songs, then it just devolves into like meh overproduced pop music. Up&Up is a solid closer though, and there are some other pretty moments like Everglow and Amazing Day. But it's mostly just underwhelming.

I don't think there is anything to necessarily suggest there is "bad blood" between Tove Lo and Coldplay. I mean they liked each other enough to a collaboration. And the group of people that Coldplay collaborate is a very small and prestigious group lol. It's possible that the song just soured on Coldplay/Tove Lo over time, or it just never worked out. Just like how there was that thing about Hypnotised and the app being used for a live performance, and that never really panned out. Or that the Twisted Logic Tour DVD or VLV DVD never came out. I guess sometimes things just don't happen with the band, even when they were planned previously.
  24. I do find the song cheesy, and I was already sick of it after about 5 listens. It's just that there are so many great artists that Coldplay should collaborate with, and The Chainsmokers are about on the bottom of any list of that sort, for me.
