Also heard Christmas Lights being played in the shops yesterday and was a pretty good change to all the usual ones you hear every year. First time, I have heard it being played somewhere as well.

Are we also going to do a doodle on the times as well? Because datewise I am pretty good for anything (uni summer holiday life). The 16th/17th might be good because it is closer to Christmas. But yeah whatever. I'm actually really excited for this one, idk last year's was just so good, it really made me feel all Christmasy ahahaha

Yeah I like amazing day but idk it just doesn't feel like it goes anywhere. It is just super calm and there's no real punching coming from it. It is strange because I guess you could say that parachutes was a pretty calm album, but there was still a punch in each of those songs. Like in spies the guitar is just haunting. Still though sometimes I just feel like listening to amazing day but more often than not I'd listen to parachutes or something instead :P

It's pretty interesting how you can like the same songs and albums and stuff but over time, as you and your experiences change, the meaning of those songs to you change as well

Sorry guys for not checking this post again until now, I don't know I kinda regretted making this thread after immediately afterwards, because I kinda made it out of one of those moments, where you're feeling really weird and just do something. I guess I was worried about you guys saying you don't really care for a thread like this either (like what would most likely happen if I brought this up with my friends...). But I don't know. Seeing your replies though are so cool, and I'm glad I decided to check this thread again :) Coldplayers really are the most awesome bunch of people :) X&Y would have been a really amazing album to listen to whilst driving around the mountains I listen to parachutes going to uni too! It is actually an awesome album to listen to, going on the train to uni, after getting like 4 or 5 hours of sleep after finishing assignments the night before... Just really makes you feel like we're all fugitives, look at the way we live...

Yeah I don't know 100% why but liking coldplay can be a very controversial thing around people. Like when telling friends or something, after they ask you what bands you like they either roll their eyes at you or say something about you liking "generic" bands. Or they also really like coldplay... I swear it isn't the same with like any other bands.

Yeah me too, but from ghost stories at least his divorce seemed to hit him pretty hard, like you'd expect. So yeah you'd hope mentally he's doing a lot better now than he was.

I think they really do know how much these songs mean to a lot of people. But it depends where the band's frame of mind is right now. Like if they just don't feel like playing those songs and don't really have any feeling driving the songs, they're just going to sound stale and forced as well. But I mean I'd love to hear Politik live again and spies as well actually. Also they'd need to go over their songs again and re-remember the lyrics lol... Just reminds me of Chris not remembering what song "Swallowed in the sea" was when they were up on stage...

We should also do a Christmas listening party, closer to Christmas because I really loved the one we did last year :)

Yeah it depends whether they want to sprinkle out random new songs or work towards another album. I reckon it'll be a little while till their next album though. They will probably want a break, think about the direction of the band and also choose/make songs as good as they can be. I think the boys are probably still pretty picky with their song choices on albums too.

Yeah exactly, like the viva album just worked. Every song flowed from one to the next nicely and like you said even the EP continued on from the album. But still X&Y will always have a special place for me too.

I am grateful that uni exams are almost over then comes a long summer break (southern hemisphere things)
