Part of a system I am... No idea, reminds me of Europe though because politics in German is Politik (I am 90% sure anyway). So maybe it is a directly kinda jab at the turmoil in Europe at the time, was there turmoil in Europe at that time? Although I think I heard somewhere that it was partially written about the tragedy after 9/11. But I really don't know just saying stuff off the top of my head now. Good question though. If Chris is like me, he could have just done it because it makes the song look interesting and cooler, whilst possibly having a clever metaphorical meaning behind it :p EDIT: just so the influx of everyone's messages on the next page, well good to see my German isn't completely rusty

I'm the completely opposite X&Y got my into coldplay. Idk my very first coldplay song was viva la vida, then I moved to paradise then somehow started listening through X&Y as my first album and I was just amazed. Idk for me the whole album just worked, which is odd because that's the opposite of what other people think. And for the type of listener I am I think it changes but I'm probably a lot more lyrically orientated but if something sounds really cool, I'll probably end up liking it but if it doesn't have all that great lyrics, will probably take a couple weeks before I do like it.

You've got the right attitude though and I reckon you did the right thing calling it off with your ex, especially realising that you guys just weren't fitting for each other. I think quite a few people just stay with someone because it is easier that way when they aren't fitting for each other either. So I mean I'm sure this'll make you happier in the long run.

Sparks is the most amazing song actually. It's just so smooth, chill, true, beautiful, atmospheric and depressing all at the same time.

Just thought it would be interesting to hear what place/moment/time/person certain coldplay songs or even an entire album reminds you of. For me Parachutes, the album, has been on my mind, it reminds me of the cold, slow rolling bus touring through Germany in winter with tons of fog all around the autobahn. Also reminds me of waking up when it was pitch black at 6am getting ready for school there... Lastly, it just reminds me of the bitter sweetness of love really. Sorry if this thread's been done before or something then I'll just get rid of this one :P

I mean also it is a B-side and they don't really play them but I mean also it depends how into the song they are now. I mean they could all look at that song and really think it's trash for all we know and not want to play it :p Chris probably doesn't even remember the lyrics now anyway... Can't blame him if he can't though, the song's pretty old and he probably hasn't thought about it since they recorded it.
