  1. you must be smoking some good stuff if you think tidu is better than SITS
  2. can someone put them up on rapidshare - thanks a ton!
  3. I never see posts that talk about this song. Def. one of their better b-sides in my opinion. I love this song but I wish is was longer than 2:36.
  4. correction - what coldplay WAS - they've lost it with x&y i'm afraid...
  5. eh - sometimes i love it and other times it sounds very amatureish - i don't think it's anything special. to tell y'all the truth I was sorta dissapointed with the SOS b-sides - hopefully the fix yous will be a step up - im talking careful where you stand-quality.
  6. i want a new b-side from coldplay EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one day a mid tempo, the next day a piano ballad, the next day a retro-daylight-ripoff, and on and on and on....coldplay should just turn into a b-side factory!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. lets face it - the best songwriting will always come from AROBTTH. Amsterdam all the way, no contest!
  8. these are the results I expected I suppose, but allmusic.com and Spin Magazine both ranked Don't Believe The Truth ahead of X&Y. To each their own.
  9. I am a fan of both bands, and I have listened to both records repeatedly. I have found that I enjoy Don't Believe The Truth more than X&Y. I think that the songs on Don't Believe The Truth are better except for Mucky Fingers and Part of the Queue. How about you guys. P.S. - I'd rather have fans of both bands that have listened to both albums answer only please ;).
  10. everything sounds so fluffy - the record has no bite. plus, the one thing that separated Coldplay from every other band until X&Y was EMOTION. There is no emotion on this record. It will never grab hold of me the way Parachutes and especially AROBTTH did.
  11. the guy is right most of the time. he still is an unpredictable ass sometimes, but he has come into his own as a songwriter and I find his tangents entertaining. the music industry needs more straight-shooters like him. also, his songs on Don't Believe The Truth were the best on the record, which I found to be superior to X&Y.
  12. warning sign is their best, followed closely by gravity, trouble, and in my place
  13. Y'all check out this site - a plethora of opinions - i tend to agree with the Austin Chronicle's summation http://www.metacritic.com/music/artists/coldplay/xandy
  14. Rush of Blood is a better record that X&Y. When I introduce my kids to Coldplay, I'll play them Parachutes first, and then AROBTTH to let them see how much of an improvement it was from Parachutes. I intend to keep them away from X&Y for a while though if possible - much too commercial-sounding.
  15. X&Y is a fine album, make no bones about it. The album could lose about half of the synth production though, and it would sound twice as good. The intimacy of the first two albums has been somewhat lost with this (in my mind) excessive production. The warm acoustic strums of "Sparks", as well as the euphoric but simple chorus and simple combination of Johnny's guitar and Will's drums on "In My Place" are what made me fall in love with the band. "Careful Where You Stand" gives me a "wrapped up in a blanket with my girl during a cold winter day" type feeling. The point is Coldplay's minimalism lends itself to bringing out the emotion in their music. The overproduction of X&Y makes Coldplay feel alien to me, which is a shame. The final product is too impersonal for my tastes. I can only hope some live recordings later on will change my mind. I do like the album, but it doesn't fill me with the euphoria that songs such as "Yellow" and "The Scientist" did. P.S. - Who else thinks that Gravity would have been an incredible addition to X&Y. See you in Atlanta on Sept. 28 at Philips for the concert of the year!
  16. the leaked version is superior. it was the original version of the song and Martin intended for it to be on the album. The bridge and guitar eruption on the leaked version would have been the most powerful moment on X&Y. I don't know why he had to change it that much after it was leaked anyway. I guess he was pissed off or thought it would hurt sales if they kept it and released it as a single since it was already out. What do you guys think?
  17. old talk is much better there is no question that the old Talk is superior to the new talk. see gentleparachute's above post. the bridge and guitar explosion of the original would have been the highlight of X&Y, which I find to be very cold and impersonal, and lacking of the trademark coldplay emotion they injected into their first two albums. It seems they were trying too hard. And Martin messed up the best song on the album in Talk. Why did he change Talk anyway? Do you think Martin was mad that it was leaked and changed it in response, or do you think that since it is a future single, the worry was that it wouldn't have as much effect on sales since it had been in the public for so long?
