  5. The Coldplay lads are being shamed into swapping sweets for salad after piling on the pounds. Chris, Guy, Jonny and Will are on top of the world since conquering all with their new album Viva la Vida and single Violet Hill. But they've put on weight thanks to a diet of "baked goods" - endless cakes, pastries and pies. "It happens whenever we have some downtime, usually between albums," says Chris. "We get very hairy and kind of morph into Bill Oddie - we stack on the weight." But, he says, a meeting with former Stone Roses bassist Mani made him get to grips with his waistline. "He was eating a sandwich and I asked him what was in it. He told me it was salad and that I should eat the same. Mani warned us that nobody wants a fat pop star.'" Now, not only are all the boys watching their diet, Chris, 31, has even banned club sandwiches from their catering menu on tour. A source confirmed: "They love the things and know they will be tempted to scoff a few if they're lying about." Yeah, you and your vices, Chris... http://www.mirror.co.uk/showbiz/2008/07/18/coldplay-lads-go-on-diet-after-bad-food-binges-89520-20652989/
  6. Coldplay want merch better COLDPLAY singer CHRIS MARTIN is known to be a perfectionist. You only have to listen to the attention to detail on new album Viva La Vida to realise that. But now that has extended to the band’s tour merchandise, with Chris insisting some of it is pulled from the shelves and replaced. He’s said he wants every area of the 67-date tour, which started in Los Angeles on Monday, to be a “no c**p zone”. Chris revealed: “We were in the dressing room in LA looking at some of the stuff and much of it, especially some of the T-shirts, looked terrible. “We put so much work into our music. That same quality control has to extend to stuff being sold at our shows and we made that clear. It has to be a no c**p zone.” The band stand to lose bags of cash for each day the stock is off the shelves but they are sticking to their guns. While they may be picky about their merchandise, they’re not so fussy over the TV shows they watch. The band’s bassist GUY BERRYMAN has revealed the boys are massive Neighbours fans. That will do nothing for their, already dubious, rock ’n’ roll credentials. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article1437883.ece
  7. British rockers COLDPLAY has pulled some of their merchandise from the stands on their current U.S. tour - because it is "c**p", according to frontman CHRIS MARTIN. The singer and his band were so let down with the quality of the items that they demanded the goods be taken off their shelves - even though this ultimately means less money for them. Martin says, "We were in the dressing room in L.A. looking at some of the stuff and much of it, especially some of the t-shirts, looked terrible. "We put so much work into our music. The same quality control has to extend to stuff being sold at our shows and we made that clear. 9. Chaos for Coldplay fans as ticket blunder threatens to leave hundreds locked out of Scots gig HUNDREDS of Coldplay fans will be locked out of their Scottish concerts after a massive ticket mix-up. Ticketmaster have recalled a batch of 3200 briefs after they were printed on the wrong paper. The gaffe means anyone who bought the tickets from secondary sources, such as eBay, will be denied entry to the concert. It is estimated that tickets originating from touts and fans who decided to sell them could number more than 800 for the two gigs on December 5 and 6. Last night, Ticketmaster admitted only fans whose email addresses were registered at the time of sale would be issued with new tickets. A spokesman said: "It is true that we have announced a recall of tickets, which should be no problem for most fans as there is a long time to go before the concert. "If people decide to buy tickets from sources such as eBay, it is their own business, but it is something we do not recommend. "People who buy from other sources lose the rights that other fans are covered by, given that their emails are not registered with us. "They will therefore not be able to get the replacement tickets sent to them unless they contact the original purchaser and replace the tickets through them." Despite the chaos, scores of tickets to the gig were selling on eBay yesterday, with some fetching £150 for tickets whose face value is £60. Buyers had no way of knowing if the tickets will be void by the time of the concert. One disgruntled fan who emailed the Razz said: "Ticketmaster told me the gig will be empty, as most the tickets are bought from auction sites. "Hundreds will be turned away. This is the biggest gig in Scotland, but only people with registered email addresses will know they have faulty tickets. "Coldplay will be going nuts when they see the venue empty, as they will not allow anyone in with the tickets they botched up. This is a disgrace by Ticketmaster." On the Ticketmaster website, a notice advises: "If you have received an email from Ticket master regarding a ticket recall for the Coldplay events at the SECC in Glasgow on December 5 and 6, we can confirm this email is legitimate and would ask you to follow instructions. "Only customers affected by this issue have been contacted." The news comes after it emerged that Ticketmaster also had £90,000 worth of tickets and passes for Live at: Loch Lomond and DT Tiesto's Manchester set go missing.
