  3. except that Sir AF would fall foul of FIFA if he keeps him on the bench, and Ronaldo would then be entitled to a free transfer. There was a discussion on the radio about it, and a player has to play around 10% of a team's games in a season. So play him and charge extortionate amount for him, to get rid of the ungrateful little ***. Or don't play him and let them have him for free.
  4. I love Marian Keyes. Her books are great
  5. I saw something somewhere that said Chris was in the audience at MSG when Pearl Jam were playing the other night edit: it was here http://www.gigwise.com/news/44152/pearl-jam-joined-by-kiss-and-ramones-members-in-new-york
  6. Just some random research on most recent tours. Setlists looked something like this, and none of them were free pre-tour shows as far as I could see. 17 Muse 17 Take That 21 Madonna 22 Green Day 23 Bon Jovi 24 Radiohead 25 Bruce Springsteen 26 Kylie 27 Neil Diamond So with that list, if I was going to get hung up, I'd be more annoyed with Madonna as her tickets are more than double the Coldplay ones in the UK.
  7. Surely its about quality and not quantity?
  8. maybe he's been reading all the negative comments and was unintentionally pushing the point
  9. Breaking News: Fire Breaks Out Near Glastonbury Festival Site A fire has broken out in an industrial unit near the site of this years Glastonbury festival. The fire, at a scrap metal works less than a mile away from Worthy Farm, has prompted a number of local residents to be evacuated. But festivalgoers, who have been arriving since yesterday, were still flowing onto site just after midday. People who have yet to arrive have been told to expect delays as firefighters have been forced to close roads in order to tackle the blaze. 10. Just finished The Rain Before It Falls by Jonathan Coe. Its brilliant. The whole premise of telling the story as an old lady describing photos works really well.

  14. A hotel celebration appears to be behind the mystery of "UFO sightings" in Shropshire. Cpl Mark Proctor told the Sun newspaper he saw 13 craft "zig-zagging" over Tern Hill barracks, near Market Drayton. Other people also reported sightings. The Ministry of Defence has confirmed it was handed a soldier's mobile phone footage from 7 June. However, the Tern Hill Hall Hotel believes Chinese lanterns it released for a wedding reception are to blame. Cpl Proctor reported seeing a "fleet" of objects at about 2300 BST. "They were like rotating cubes with multiple colours," he said. But hotel manager Stuart Willett believes he holds the key to the mystery. "On the 7th of June we had a wedding where she had sky lanterns - you can light the lanterns and they float off into the air like hot air balloons," he said. He said it was the third or fourth time the hotel had used the lanterns, which he said "burn up until they disintegrate". "We've had inquiries from residents before, but it's the first time it's been classed as a UFO," he said. Mr Willet said he thought it was "highly hilarious", but added the hotel would give some advance warning before the lanterns were used again. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7474160.stm

  21. Radiohead 'terrified' of UK tour Radiohead singer Thom Yorke has admitted he suffered from a bout of nerves ahead of the UK leg of the band's world tour. The group played the first of four dates in England and Scotland on Tuesday night, headlining an outdoor show at Victoria Park in east London. The set consisted of tracks from their recent studio album In Rainbows, as well as material from every studio album since 1995's The Bends. Speaking towards the end of the evening, Yorke admitted he had been "terrified" ahead of the huge outdoor shows, which are the band's largest in Britain for a number of years. He also thanked the audience for their "good vibes". The shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London this month are the first chance many British fans have had to hear tracks from In Rainbows for the first time live. In 2007 the band made the record available via their website, allowing fans to pay what they thought the album was worth when they downloaded it. An official, "traditional" release followed. Latest tracks Last night fans were treated to 15 Step, Bodysnatchers, All I Need, Nude, Arpeggi, Faust Arp, Reckoner, Jigsaw Falling into Place and Videotape, all from the new record. The songs were mixed up with older material, including classic single Just, Everything in Its Right Place and The National Anthem from 2000's Kid A and Airbag from third album OK Computer. Radiohead return to Victoria Park on Wednesday evening for a second show. They play Glasgow Green on 27 May and Manchester Old Trafford Cricket Ground on 29 May. The band tour July in Europe, before heading to the US in August. A Japanese tour is planned for October. http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/music/newsid_7472000/7472777.stm
