Compulsory Subjects in Highschool
its a while ago so my memory is a bit rusty  when i did my GCSE's these were compulsory: Science (as individual subjects or combined) Maths English (Literature & Language) 1 language (i think French was compulsory & then could add others if you wanted) History or Geography (had to include one of the 2. I wanted to do both but the timetable didn't fit in with my wanting to take German) PE - but not for exams, just to get the exercise.

there has been a deadlock
booooo! i like the term "back-end system" though :D i think something must have crashed here too. i have to open saved word docs via this system and it won't open any of them.

there has been a deadlock
brilliant error message from the system! :laugh3: but I'd rather not see it when I'm in the middle of trying to complete my work for month end

CONTEST!!! Want to win a copy of Simon Pegg's book "Nerd do well"? (ended, winner announced!)
i was going to write to the Oracle, as follows, but I can't find the form to do so on the new look website :( Dear Oracle, Please would you advise the lovely #42 that the absence of a new blog is causing consternation among fans? We would love some more studio gossip, but more importantly than that no-one can win the Simon Pegg autobiography on coldplaying until there is a new blog. Thanks,

Ever been burgled?
what a nightmare! both to losing the essay and to typing on an ipod touch think the worst thing about being burgled the first time was that, although they hadn't taken anything, they'd pulled everything out of the drawers and wardrobes and you knew they'd been touched things. plus that horrible fingerprint stuff which took hours to clean up afterwards. the second time, the nasty thing was we were all in the house and they'd climbed in the kitchen window. (it was a new double-glazing one which was very tall and opened outwards with no restraints - so you could climb in or out of them) the only useful thing about that was the police said that the windows were extremely insecure, which negated one of the points when the uni tried to withold our deposits.

Bullies and Bullying
there isn't a legal definition of bullying in th UK, but a series of cases brought against local councils seem to agree the following: Whilst i was browsing, also found this about cyber harrassment which i thought was interesting: and the NHS had some interesting comments

SUMMER FESTIVALS
i'd have thought its cheaper to have a festivals tour than to build your own. less overheads and a bit less hassle (but maybe R#42, the Oracle & co can disprove that thought!) you can get outside in the summer instead of being stuck inside smelly arenas. a chance to create new fans by converting sceptics. people at coldplay concerts are likely to mainly be fans already. large parts of festival crowds won't be, and may overhear a set and decide all the stuff they read about you is distorted and actually, that band ain't so bad after all a chance to catch up with old music friends without having to pay them to tour with you.

not if I fill in the form you're not :p our descendants want nice information when doing their tree research, not garbage
