  1. Wow... that's both really awesome, and really gutting. Typical secret gig then. :( Did Steph still get in? And do you know what time the new show is supposed to actually start?
  2. Aw... Man, I hate time zones. I had to bargain my way out of supper to be here. So why can't the world be flat again? Oh yeah...
  3. Well it's not going to be me. :P Very often just saying something isn't working will make it start up... but of course saying that you're hoping that that happens will negate the effect.
  4. 5:31... still black. Here's hoping murphy's law works FOR me for once...
  5. or bangers and mash... or up on a ladder...
  6. So I scanned it. And now I'm not scared, I'm sad. Because his mind has gone missing, as though someone sucked it out with a straw. Actually, it's very stepford wives-ish. Invasion of the cyborgs. :stunned:
  7. Part of me wants to watch that for a laugh... ...the other part is too scared to. :uhoh: How the mighty have fallen indeed.
  8. so it's still on... but nothing yet. edit... oh, 9, ok. So 5.
  9. By Julie Steenhuysen CHICAGO (Reuters) - Children whose mothers are stressed are at higher risk for asthma, Canadian researchers said on Tuesday. They said persistent distress such as a mother's depression or anxiety can increase the risk that her child will develop asthma by an average of 25 percent, even after accounting for known environmental triggers. "It is increasingly clear that traditional environmental risk factors do not fully explain the origins of asthma," said Anita Kozyrskyj of the University of Manitoba in Canada. Kozyrskyj's team analyzed the medical records of nearly 14,000 children born in Manitoba in 1995 who were continuously registered with Manitoba Health Services until 2003. They checked to see whether the children had asthma at age 7 by analyzing doctor visits, hospitalizations and medications in the year of their 7th birthday. They cross-checked this with the mother's medical records, including doctor visits, hospitalizations and medication for depression and anxiety. And they ranked the mother's distress by the duration of treatment: no distress, postpartum distress only, short-term distress and long-term distress. "We found that maternal distress which persists beyond the postpartum period is associated with an increased risk of asthma at school-age," Kozyrskyj, whose study appears in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, said in a statement. This effect persisted even after factoring in income, gender, number of siblings, heredity and whether the child lived in an urban or rural setting. The risk appeared to intensify for children in high-income households or who had more than one sibling. More here: http://uk.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUKN1550724520080115?sp=true
  10. Looks like Radiohead fell to 2nd on the US charts last week, sandwitched between Alicia Keys and the Juno soundtrack. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003696997
  11. ^ Four hours difference. Four between Britain and here, and four between here and the west coast. So 4pm. And 3pm EST.
  12. Whahey! 10 years! Here's to the next 10, and may they be brilliant. :D I think this would be a good occasion to drag some vinyl out... The Blue Room perhaps.
  13. Webcast! Yaaa! :D "Webcast address It'll be on radiohead.tv tonight, round about 8. Happy viewing! Jonny"
  14. Oh, by the way, like I said in the strike thread, that gigwise article http://www.gigwise.com/news.asp?contentid=39998 has a poll. I say it's poll crashing time. :sneaky: Who's with me?
  15. Because you know, with all this talk about this and that idea "devaluing" music, nothing "values" music like a McDonald's logo on a commercial cd you still have to pay $12 bucks for.
  16. Thanks...Wasn't too bad a cut... just a little scab left now.
  17. Found this while looking for other news... hope she's ok. :worried: http://www.wnbc.com/news/15052962/detail.html Report: Gwyneth Paltrow Hospitalized At Mt. Sinai POSTED: 11:07 am EST January 15, 2008 NEW YORK -- Gwyneth Paltrow was admitted to New York's Mount Sinai Hospital Monday afternoon, according to Us Magazine. An “eyewitness” told Us Magazine that Paltrow was slumped over in a wheelchair being pushed by her husband, Chris Martin.A source told Us Magazine that Paltrow and Martin were spending the night. and http://www.usmagazine.com/exlcusive_gwyneth_paltrow_admitted_to_new_york_hospital Gwyneth Paltrow was admitted to New York's Mount Sinai Hospital yesterday afternoon, Usmagazine.com has learned. "She was slumped over in a wheelchair pushed by [husband] Chris Martin," an eyewitness tells Us. "She looked not well." At 6:30 p.m., a bag — labeled "Gwyneth Martin" (!)— from NYC organic home supply store Organics Avenue was delivered. A source tells Us she and Martin were spending the night. The reason for the hospitalization is unknown. Her rep tells Us, "We are not commenting as it's a personal matter."
  18. Does anyone want to help me crash a poll? Would you like to see albums sponsored?
  19. Got the next batch of hot dogs ready to serve up. You can find the first batch here. First up, Mr. Hands issued a press release this morning summarizing all the changes that will be taking place, and where he wants to take the company. Finally found a full copy of the official press release here Coldplay's Manager spoke briefly to the Financial Times: "Dave Holmes, who manages Coldplay, says he is keeping an open mind before hearing the full plan. However, he says he would 'definitely not' advise one of the new artists he represents to sign to EMI because 'it's a label which is going through too much change'." On the gist of "corporate sponsorship" from here "He is looking to tie-up artists to major sponsors in the same way that football teams are. Bands who are not destined for global success could also link up with local sponsors to help break into the student market under his plans." Because you know, students, with their hard-core indie sensibilities would have no problem embracing local corporate sponsorship for one of their local bands. :freak: Finally I found this article about Guy Hand's background and track record if anyone wants to know a little more. The big meetings are going to take place all day today apparently, so we probably won't hear more until after they take place and the managers themselves know more about what is happening.
  20. I found a good in-depth summary of the whole big mess for anyone interested in the wheretos and whyfors: Trouble at EMI Interesting quote: "Friends say Hands is not moved by criticism. “He is not perturbed by controversy,” said one source. “Quite the reverse. If he’s not making waves, he’s not doing his job.”"
  21. It still looks good in the end. Just be careful. And don't go slicing your thumb open with an exacto knife trying to trim the overhang off. :embarassed:
  22. ^They have been for a while. I've been using an oldish dvd player as a cd player for a bit now, and was sad to discover that it doesn't like EMI's copy protection. So Hail to the Thief, X&Y, and KT Tunstall's Eye to the Telescope- which I bought proper copies of- keep freezing or skipping.
  23. Unfortunatly, that's a good way to be banned from making music or using your own name while you're in court wrangling over a lawsuit for years...
  24. I hear you. Especially for klutzes like me who put them on crooked.
