  1. I think it's more going to separate back into 2 or three tiers- ultra corporate for the lazy at one end and ultra artsy for internet junkies at the other.
  2. ^^Not surprised...my generation was raised on "follow your dreams... believe in yourself and it will happen" which basically meant that everyone wanted to be actors or directors or whatever and thought it could actually happen. So we get tossed out in the real world and not only find out the hard way that it doesn't work like that, but we also have those same people yelling at us that we're spoiled brats with a sense of entitlement just because we actually listened to them.
  3. It's funny... they drove me completely mental when they were so overboard back then... but I miss quite a few of them now. Especially all the alienated Libertines fans. I may not have agreed with them on certain things, but I liked them. You can import most of them into msn... though it doesn't always work so well.
  4. Anyway, finished adding stuff to the monster post up there. Feel queasy from all the hotdogs for now, may add later. The sh*t hits the fan tomorrow. They're saying about 1/3 of the company is going to receive pink slips, and more of these wonderful (gag me) ideas will be unveiled. Time will tell.
  5. It is a war... from everything I've read about the guy, Mr. Hands isn't happy unless he is ticking people off. He's just never had to work with creative types before, and he doesn't want to realize that it's different. He's actually quite happy that he's stepping on so many toes at the moment.
  6. Yeah. I would be tempted to not buy the album just to spite them if that happened, even if it killed me. It would be the moment that Coldplay lost all respect that they ever had completely.
  7. I brought my own friend from real life - or rather she brought me. Autumnjoy.
  8. Been digging through news reports for a while now, and here's some highlights. Talk about a hotdog factory. So the big meeting(s) where mr. hands gets to astonish us with his brilliant ideas :dozey: are happening tomorrow. Hopefully some sanity comes out of them. Though it looks more like the promised artist revolt. Heh... some reports I can't find again were saying that he had demanded that all managers AND their artists appear for them... uh, yeah right, your cluelessness. Later reports are only saying that the artists have been invited. (I so shouldn't admit that I ocassionally read this...) Chris is apparently in New York at the moment, so I don't think he'll show up, but you never know. Kylie is blaming EMI for her album flopping, and may try to leave. Which only backs up what everyone is afraid of- EMI have not come up with any new models, but no longer even know the old model for successfully marketing an album. She's only sold about 315K copies since it was released LAST FALL. (Radiohead sold more than a third of that just last week in the US, and after their download) The Verve are the latest big name to throw their hat in the ring and threaten to withhold their reunion album without some insurance that it will be released properly. So is there anyone else? Oh yeah, KT Tunstall- but she just released an album, and Lily Allen- who does have an album coming out- but considering certain comments about Radiohead I'm guessing she's on the company's side in this as well. Robbie Williams manager has some issues with the term "strike". And I quote: "'On strike? I didn't actually use those terms', explained Clark 'What we actually said was it would be unrealistic to expect an artist - any artist to deliver an album while we have no idea where EMI are going', he told Music Week. after his comments were used in the media." And just in case I hadn't made my point that they genuinely don't know what artists really want, EMI haven't made any official statements about the artist revolt, preferring to issue statements through anonymous  executives, but the gist is that they are "furious" and think this is all just Robbie Williams wanting more money. (Which may be true, but it means that they didn't listen to a word all the other managers said about being worried.) AND MOST OBNOXIOUS OF ALL: "The next Coldplay album could be brought to you by Sudafed", under plans being unveiled by Guy Hands today to boost EMI's flagging earnings with corporate sponsorship. The Terra Firma chief executive told the FT his private equity group's plan for EMI would include several new ways of making money for artists."Football teams have very distinct corporate sponsorship. Why shouldn't some of the leading bands have the same sort of relationships?" to be continued...

No. They really seriously don't. At all. All the cliques get broken up, all the status is worthless. In fact people who were super popular for being popular and nothing else are kind of looked down on. Age doesn't matter like it did. If you're a college student and you don't act like you're still in high school, it doesn't matter if you're 19 or 25 or in your 30s, you get treated the same. Gossip happens, but it doesn't mean the same things, and doesn't impact you the way it did- people are much wiser about it, and don't believe it like they did. Sure there's all that status crap in highschool, but like I've said before, everyone all of a sudden realizes when they get out that the really cool people were the people who found a way to avoid status altogether and just do their own thing and find unique ways to be their own person. Those are the ones who come out of it all with personalities, and everyone else just looks like losers in hindsight. Seriously, I had to switch schools in 7th grade I was picked on so much. I have met several of the girls who acted the worst towards me either as co-workers or as other students in courses I was taking. They have all treated me like an equal and a friend, and have turned out to be very sweet now that they've grown up. All the old things just don't matter anymore.

Here jr. high is from grades 7-9, and sr. high is 10-12.
  12. Space Cadet replied to anna111's topic in The Lounge
Yeah, as far as behavior goes (don't think that jr. and sr. high are split up the same in the US so I'll go by grades), 7th grade is the absolute worst- everyone's gone mental on hormones and things. 8th grade isn't much better, but all the sudden in 9th grade they start to calm down and grow up a lot- and it keeps getting better from there on. It really is just a bubble world that vanishes completely the moment you get out. And then you wonder why such dumb things ever could have mattered so much, because they mean nothing in the real world.
  13. It's Monday. Heroes is supposed to start in 8 minutes. But it won't. :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: Please make the writers strike end. Please for the love of humanity. I need my Heroes fix. :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:

Ok, who ARE these people anyway? What are they, like 5? Can I punch them for you? Please? :smash: Goodness... I just realized that I've been out of highschool a lot longer than I thought. :uhoh: It gets much, much better very soon. I promise.
  15. " The trouble with dreams is you can't pretend...something with no beginning has an end" :nice: Most people would mainly know him as one of the guys on the first Shrek soundtrack... just for the confused.

Wow... this thread really did grow fast. :stunned: Catching up... My first thought was definatly that this was about the Spice Girls... I always laugh at conversations like this on account of getting along with guys much better than girls. And don't date good friends. Seriously. It seems like a good idea at the time because obviously you already get along and like each other, but then when it all goes pear-shaped not only have you broken up with a boyfriend, but your old friendship can never be the same again... it's just so... weird and awkward. Yes, this is from experience. The one exception to that ^ that I've seen over and over is if you're at a point in your lives where you would want to be in a relationship together for the long run- basically when you're both ready to get married should things work out- and you can't stand the idea of ever not being together. That seems to work. But otherwise, it's doomed.
  17. Yeah... you're the same age as my little sister, actually... which automatically makes it weird.
  18. Um... I'm a space cadet with a thing for outer space, scifi, and fantasy. So it works on a couple of levels. space cadet: n. A person who tends to space out often. He or she does not respond when directly spoken to. The space cadet is not necessarily a person of low intelligence or a heavy drug user, but rather one who is so easily lost in reverie that he or she loses all awareness of the surrounding physical world. Don't bother trying to get her attention, she's being a space cadet.

Good grief. :stunned::lol: I take it there were a lot of very bored people here yesterday.
  20. I remember this thread...:laugh3: Goodness... As for the question, everyone here is either way too old or young... except Ren, who already seems to have his own harem. :P
  21. electronic wineglasses... :P
  22. He is the best. I've listened to several interviews he's done, and he has a lot of very good very interesting things to say. He approaches this stuff like real A R T and he seems to be the person to get a group out of a rut. And people who work with him seem to come up with THEIR best from working with him. (Joshua Tree, anyone?) P.S. He also created one of the single most beautiful pieces of music ever created imho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOgQyIMX_XU
