  1. Been listening to Beach House's Teen Dream lately. I don't know anything about them, but I like it. :nice:

He still keeps an eye on it in his hyperactive JJ sort of way as it's still part of his production company. I think they still run plots by him and he helped hire many of the writers (?). But yeah, generally he stays out of the day to day stuff.
  3. Said it elsewhere but I'll burst if I don't say it again: He's writing Doctor Who! :nice:

Yeah, I understand- willing dying to save the people you love is a concept that would go completely over your head. :P

^^such is the nature of redemption.

I'm pretty good. I can do life drawing ok when I bother to take the time. But it's frustrating because I would be so much better if I practiced and I don't know how to make myself. Story of my life. Yay for ADD.

  12. I don't believe you.
  13. Squeeeeeeeee!!!     Ah, but so long to wait. But it's going to be so awesome.
  14. Heh... the point where I'm about ready to start throwing pencils at the ceiling is usually the point where I get quite good at cooking up a bit of mischief. But my idea of mischief doesn't involve computers, so it's kind of hard to drag you bored lot along. Hmm.... :wacky: :escaping3:
  15. Yeah, there's about maybe 10 variations of traditional ways stories deal with that sort of paradox. Dual timelines are one of them. Another- I think the one HA is referring to (hehee... HA. I should keep calling you that. It's a pretty good description. :P) is an endless causality loop. They detonate the bomb in the past, so they never crash on the island, so they never travel back to detonate the bomb and prevent themselves from crashing, so they crash, so they travel back and detonate the bomb... on and on ad infinitum ad nauseum. Personally, the time travel stories I like the most are the ones where the causality loop eventually decays into something stable- it happens because it always happened based on choices you already made. (See Babylon 5) Though the Time Traveller's Wife (the book) is probably the most true to reality as we would experience it, as far as cause and effect are concerned.
  16. ^What, the one where you go back in time and shoot your grandfather creating a reality loop? I do suspect that's where they're going with it, especially since they've been saying that this season is about the larger consequences of their actions. But up until the end of the first episode at least, both realities are co-existing, which is why I dragged the poor theoretical cat into it all. (Although frankly, if Schrodinger was really the one who put the cat in the box so long ago, poison or no poison the cat must surely be dead in both realities by now.)
  17. Welcome to February. :disappointed: It's so dull I don't even have anything to say. :(
  18. The cat is simultaneously both alive and dead as far as the outside world is concerned until the box is opened. The bomb simultaneously both worked and didn't until we're told differently. Works for me, if not the grumps in the room. :P
  19. Ok, double-checked. Just get the converter. If you give it the power it's originally meant to get it will be happy. And it's too valuable to risk anything else. Though I would love to hear from the Oracle if it's been to the US before...
  20. Yes, you need a voltage converter which is rated for at least 30 watts or more. (25watts... means it must take one of those tiny decorarive bulbs?) I'll double check with a teacher in the morning, but it looks like it was only meant for Europe. I'm an electronics tech (in training) if you're wondering. I'm used to different values so I will double check tomorrow, but the principles are the same- haven't been studying this stuff for the last year and a half for nothing. ;)
  21. The main thing you need to know is the wattage it's rated for, and the wattage of the bulb it uses. (That will be closer to what's actually used.) It might also give the current ie. something like 2.5A or 3A. It will probably also say something like 240V~ 50Hz. If it says 110-240V~ 50-60Hz, you're in luck!- it's already built for the US, so you only need an adapter that can handle the wattage.
  22. Eee! Nice pics :D But eek! MAKE SURE you get a voltage converter if you are going to plug it in, or you could burn up the globe and your house with it. And make sure any adapter or converter you use can handle the watts needed or it will likely burn out too. Lightbulbs take a very high wattage. That's why you're going to have trouble. In the UK voltage is much higher so for the same number of watts, things draw much less current. Less current means smaller more fragile wires that could burn up if they suddenly started drawing twice as much current to supply the wattage needed at a lower voltage. (Watts = Voltage x Current) Smaller things might not matter so much, but power-wise a light bulb is a big thing. If walmart doesn't have what you need, try Radio Shack- the person there should know enough to tell you which one you would need for a light bulb as long as you looked up the electrical info on the globe. (If you're very, very lucky it might be rated for both the US and UK.)
