  2. ^Oh, is that why the site crashed for a minute there?
  3. Eeeh.... I get all jittery just thinking about it. :sweatdrop: Why oh why did they have to put our teams in the same group?
  4. I have them saved much, much larger as individual layers in a photoshop file. I found a font program that works quite well at converting a sufficiently large .jpg into a vector (fonts are saved as vectors so you can use them at different sizes). My big issue is that to blow the letters up big and make them look good I had to use a fair amount of artistic license and when you look at something a few pixels at a time, you loose all perspective on the effect as a whole. I guess my questions are are there any messy bits I missed? Did I pick the right examples of the letters? Do they work together as a whole? Would you easily recognize the more stylized ones as the letter in a block of text? Actually, on a second look those ought to be really useful. Thanks :nice:
  5. So why have the two (foreign) troll-sides taken the battle into the Canadian section? :inquisitive:
  6. ^They wanted it to be difficult. Be careful what you wish for.
  7. Yeah, well now you have a tiny little taste of the sort of stubborn idiots our whole country had to put up with for the last 7 years. Suing local Greek restaurants that had always had "Olympic" in their name and such. We hate to put on a bad olympics or disappoint anyone, but at the same time there's something kind of satisfying about seeing VANOC get egg on it's face.
  8. What?! Man, who put a jinx on that track? This is what VANOC gets for being such jerks about who got to practice.:angry:
  9. Hmm... looking up articles they don't mention anything about injuries, just point out that they're in 21st now. :( ^:p
  10. Bobsled team flipping? :stunned: edit: Don't you just love how the Americans are ignoring us?
  11. :disappointed: Yeah.... You'd think with a pair of brothers out of five one of them would have been able to get a medal.
  12. Aw man, SHUT OUT. :( Though judging by the way it played out, maybe (non relay) short track should be a 2 on 2 team sport...
  13. I made a rough list, but then that computer wouldn't stay on :veryangry2: grr. Anyway, it exists now, and it's probably over 100, so it's just a matter of paring and sorting. Phew. :sweatdrop:
  14. Bump... feedback? anyone? Bueller?
  15. Sounds like someone had a nasty case of Olympic nerves. :( Glad to hear they got it sorted out, though.
  16. Squee! *jumpyclaps*   [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpbmMhNe6aA]YouTube- New Doctor Who Trailer featuring the Doctor and Amy! - BBC One[/ame] Still not sure about him... I quite like her though. And they let her keep the Scottish accent (Yay!) :nice:
  17. As far as classics go, I've always gone more for Romatic or Medieval and Renaissance stuff, I'm not much of a fan of modernism, so I might not be much help... If you want to go for eye-rollingly obvious classic choices, you can't go wrong with Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. They look big and scary at first, but they're endlessly readable and very well written. For something more recent (sorry I'm a geek) I'd highly recommend Frank Herbert's original "Dune". Perceived destiny and the horrible things that can come from it, cultural entitlement and prejudice, ecology and ecological destruction, capitalism vs. people ("the spice must flow"), drug trafficking, monopolies, jihad and terrorism, the role of religion in government... There would certainly be a lot to talk about. Depending on which way you look at it it can be seen as an allegory for a lot of different things. But most importantly, it's a great story. :D
  18. How much longer is left again? A week? I'm all olympiced out already. :dizzy: But it's been fun. Did I mention I wish I could snowboard?
  19. Finished cleaning up the capital letters, if anyone's interested: Appreciate feedback- I've been looking at those for too long to notice anything majorly wrong.
  20. Yay! My vinyl came yesterday!
  21. I'm not sure which is more amusing: That so many of the Prospekt entries were written on Fridays, or how hard it is to find a useable capital letter "F".
  22. Hmm... been compiling which characters to use. It looks like this project is going to take quite a while to do properly- they need to be traced in illustrator to look good thanks to the small size... which I only have access to at school. 52 letters- upper and lower case, 10 numbers, and random punctuation, could be looking at 80+ characters to trace individually. That's a lot of work. :stunned: Sounds like fun. You'll hear from me again sometime next year.
  23. Ok. Probably not today though. It may be a snow day, but I still have to get stuff done eventually. :uhoh:
