  1. Hmm... making me want to try making one now. I do like the way he writes.
  2. Aw, yay! Good for her. :D
  3. Felicia Day! :D "The Guild" is awesome!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grCTXGW3sxQ]YouTube- The Guild - Episode 1: Wake-Up Call[/ame]
  4. There seriously isn't a thread already? I could have sworn there was. Same for me as Briggins... I want to see them live so much, but anyone I could drag along who would like them would be completely turned off by the name. And pleas of "but the name has nothing to do with the music- which is instrumental and awesome" always fall on deaf ears. And of course right now I would have to beg the ticket money off of someone which is hard when I'm not capable of saying the band's name out loud... :dizzy: They're so great, though. :nice:
  5. They'd make a good curling team. Right number of people, work well together, aren't afraid of strategy, and could probably handle the physical side of it too. Will would be a fantastic sweeper after all that drumming. ...The others might have to bulk up a bit, though. (All four team members take turns shooting and sweeping.) I just wonder who would be skip... probably Will should be. ...Heh... when I saw this thread I thought it meant Coldplay music being played. I can tell you what SHOULD be played for VANOC (Vancouver Olympic Committee) in a facepalm sort of way: "When you try your best but you don't succeed When you get what you want but not what you need When you feel so tired but you can't sleep Stuck in reverse..."
  6. It's all yours if you want it. :D
  7. Like this?
  8. I wonder if I'll be able to wrest the parents away from the Olympics long enough to watch it...
  9. w00t! I wish I could snowboard... that looks fun. :nice: :disappointed: ...*Shh...* don't tell them about the loonies in the snow silly presenters, they're onto us. :uhoh: :earmuffs:
  10. Heh, I just realized I will have actively started lurking here 5 years ago as of tomorrow. :stunned: Where did my life go?! :cry2: Oh yeah, school. :dozey:
  11. Congratz, dude! Have a cupcake. :D Wow, 7. That means the site is coming up on 8 years? Hard to think that it's that old all of a sudden, and yet hard to think that it's only that young too... :uhoh2:
  12. Woohoo! I have a funny feeling moguls are going to be huge here in 10 or 15 years... :juggle:
  13. I was about 8 or 9 years old. Dad was watching some local music festival on tv when these girls with heavenly voices started singing in some strange language I had never heard before. I had never even heard a foreign language that sounded like it. It certainly wasn't French. But it sounded so amazing. The strange sounds let me focus on the way the music itself sounded and I felt something so intense because of it. It wasn't like the classical music I had grown up listening to, and it certainly didn't sound like the pop and rock music I wasn't allowed to listen to at all. (Long story... religious reasons.) My dad explained that they were singing in Gaelic and that they were from Cape Breton where some Scottish people could still speak it. The group was the Rankin Family who went on to kick off a national Celtic revival of sorts (it was long before Riverdance). I'm pretty sure this was the song: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dIspGHsiZ4]YouTube- Mo Run Geal, Dileas[/ame] Being an oldest child with firstborn syndrome, I never really challenged my parents on the modern music rule growing up, and since the best highschool had to offer was BSB and Britney and so on I didn't have any motivation to care. My younger siblings did though. Some of their music I liked, some I didn't. (Years later I began to realize my brother had awesome taste, though. His stuff from then is some of my favorites now.) I eventually started listening to the radio in an attempt to fit in but I still didn't like it or really get it. There would be a song on a tv show that would affect me (like Coldplay's Trouble on Roswell, though I didn't know what it was at the time), but mostly it sounded so dull compared to my favorite traditional music. And then came Coldplay. Clocks to be specific. It was the first time something modern affected me emotionally in the same way Gaelic stuff had when I was little. That was when I realized that even modern music could be that powerful. And then the search for music that sounded like Coldplay's early days led me into the world of indie music, and the rest is history.
  14. ^Bad bet. They had songs on top 40 radio. The sheep are going to buy it no matter how bad it is. Initial sales almost always say more about the quality of the preceding album than the one that's being bought.
  15. ^heh. My favorite is Noel's stories about award shows where Oasis has won... -And the winner is Oasis! Liam- Boo you're shite! Bandmate - that's us. Liam- what? Yeah, of course we won. And then he acts like nothing happened. But yeah, in the articles I read on it, after all these years of Liam saying that Oasis was the best band name in all of history, he now says that Oasis in general sucks as a name.

The funny part is how close to the actual plot that is now... and according to the producers, it still didn't blow up the island. :curtain: :P ^Oi! Why would anyone hate Desmond?!
  17. Who knows until it's out. It ultimately depends on the people- some use up their store of ideas on the first album, others learned how to come up with new ideas in a hurry from the process of the first album. Yet you still expend the effort to go in nearly every thread and say how you hate it. :P Clearly you're not beyond caring enough, runt.
  18. So you do like something after all! Which ones have you read? What was your favorite? He's very quickly become my favorite living author. Yeah he and Amanda haven't been dating publicly all that long, though they're engaged now... I hadn't heard of anything but the name Dresden Dolls until he started talking about her all the time online. (Talk about relationships you can see coming. :laugh3:) But I like her now. She's crazy. In a good way.
  19. You know, you have to be one of the lamest most inadequate trolls I've ever come across. It's like you can't even be bothered to be an actual troll, so you just lazily pretend. You're the wimp of trolls. Other trolls could out troll you with a single word. You're the slime on their trolly feet. In fact, you're such a pathetic troll I'm feeding you out of pure disgust. You're such a stunted troll that no amount of troll food could possibly make you grow up into an actual troll, but hey, if it makes you stop squeaking so much it might be worth it. Trolls are not supposed to squeak. You're embarrassing.
  20. Wow! :nice: It's sure seen a few miles since the original pic, hasn't it? There's a lot of history there.
  21. ^They've all smoked except for Chris. They've all tried to quit at one time or another if I remember right. I don't know if it worked out for Will and Jonny. It certainly didn't for Guy. And WOW, great pics. So that's Hampstead Heath. I was trying to figure out why it looked odd until I realized: it's green! :( *sigh*
  22. I haven't had an success myself with free dedicated animation software. I do my stuff in photoshop. If you put each picture in a layer like animation frames, you can save it as an animated .gif.
  23. 1. Set up a tripod or support system so that your camera can't move somewhere with consistent lighting. 2. Take a picture of the globe. 3. Turn the globe very slightly making sure not to move the base or surroundings at all. 4. Take a picture of the globe. 5. Repeat 3 and 4 until you have completed a full rotation, plus a little extra to ensure continuity. Make sure that for each movement you turn the globe the same amount. 6. Put the layers together in photoshop (or a .gif animation program) I'd be happy to do this part if you don't have the software.
