  1. in Germany it seems to have something to do with nationality though. I don't know why. Erkan and Stefan show that too...since Erkan plays a Turkish guy and Stefan is the German. I don't know what it is that infects Turkish guys with this "Checker virus" but for some reason it happens :/ Very sad indeed
  2. hmmm...they are basically what you guys described. Only...they are usually Turkish guys living in Germany, Russian guys living in Germany...saw Polish guys too...and of course lower class German guys. Where I come from there are tons of those people and its horrible. The term "Checker" was originally introduced to the German population by the comedians "Erkan und Stefan" I believe. They are kinda like...the bad, unfunny and brainless version of Ali G...and those guys based their comedy on the guys I just described...they only named them. Erkan and Stafan make horrible movies too...check out this link for a bit info. http://www.german-cinema.de/archive/film_view.php?film_id=417 Oh yeah and a distinguishing thing about Checkers is that they say things like "konkret" "krass" and they call women "Bunny". So if you ever go to Germany and see someone dressed like a "Chav" saying stuff like that...you pretty sure encountered a Checker...the best you can do in this case, is run and hide!
  3. Okay, so i have been readin up on this subject cuz I had no clue what those Chavs are. I think I know those people. Are they like the "Checker" people in Germany?
  4. oh god, how do non-German people know Schnappi? has the horrible word (I mean song) speard internationally? The world is coming to an end
  5. that is so photoshopped...funny though! Anyway...What I don't get is how all those Scientology people can get brainwashed so easily. One may assume they can see through it...I mean, I am sure that "religion" does help them in a way...but mostly they help them to empty their bank account. Tom was so much better off with his old management.
  6. OH totally! I do not think the Frog is horrible tho...the people who created it...they are worse! Though I must admit: Sweety that horrible baby chicken thing was so much worse. I think they cloned it too since they keep coming up with new crap like that in Germany. I don't know whether the crazy frog is in the German music charts but then again...ever since "Schnappi, das Krokodil" was #1 I am just too terrified to check.
  7. I really do question his sanity though. Especially lately. "In 1997, Cruise and other big time Hollywood entertainers took out an international newspaper ad denouncing Germany for resorting to the same totalitarian tactics against Scientologists that the country used against the Jews under Hitler during the 1930s." Oh...riiiiiight. I think I might re-think my admiration for that person ha.
  8. yeah i heard about that on CNN the day the ruling was passed by the supreme court or whatever that was. stupid. if they didn't produce so much crappy music maybe more people would buy more of them. same goes for movies. there is just seldomly quality stuff out. I think if I lived in the US I wouldn't need to download because they actually have decent prices on stuff...but in Germany...not really. Such a pain. Why can't they keep the hands off those programs...they already killed my best friend Napster lol

i don't know what would be considered "gigs this size" but in Cologne it was pretty damn loud.
  10. isn't that gig sold out?

you should have done a search before starting a new thread about this. someone posted a rapidshare link in the Multimedia section a few days ago.
  12. ok so I guess I am gonna have to moan about not knowing what the hell Chevs and Hoodies are...
  13. very hard decision. I would go for a mix of both too. But I guess I would take the second if I really had to make up my mind...then again...my bf is across a big ocean so..chocolate it is. :/
  14. Hey! I was wondering whether anyone is planning on going to the gig in München on the 9th of July. My friend and I might go, but we still haven't figured out all the details like Hotels/Hostels etc. Does anyone know a good, affordable place to stay at?
  15. or maybe he just keeps wearing the same shirt over and over again :P as far as Soest goes...I give up lol
  16. that's really sad. maybe we are spoiled...however, it really is short. better than nothing of course..but still
  17. oh is there? I didn't know. Isn't Soest part of Sauerland?

well that's a given but it still funny though. But yeah...Amsterdam is awesome. I wish I could move somewhere near it.
  20. oh my, i didnt even see Eminem was on that list. Nothing against Eminem, I used to listen to his stuff...but...uh...okay that pretty much beats my definiton of a classic album
  21. might be. everything lays in the eye of the beholder,r ight? I am sure if others had made the list, the outcome would have been significantly different. as long as their fans dig their albums everything is great tho, isnt it?
  22. sure, why not. Alright....maybe not like The Beatles because comparing Coldplay to them is a little off. But they are still developing musically and didn't Chris say there would be changes? Maybe they will bring out some true gem and it will make one of those lists. However, I think they are great even if they don't make it onto those charts.

certainly not. They are from the States and were kind of big on the East Coast. Developed from a College band as far as I know. used to love their music but they got too poppy. http://www.guster.com you check out some songs under Multimedia. parachutes is not one of them but I recomment Demons, which is my favorite song ever by that band. They have a song called "Amsterdam" too. What's up with bands naming their songs Amsterdam?
  24. this is totally random and probably not very high on a lyrical level but I am totally obsessing over the line "I need a compass / draw me a map" on Square One  I have no idea why...I just keep singin it ever since I first heard the song.
