  1. You're welcome! I want to bump this because it's important. ;)
  2. Bono's speech from the podcast (and YES. I did type this all up myself, and it took me a long time. Not like I'm complaining or anything, but my fingers hurt!): "Equality for Africa. That's a big, expensive idea. You see, the scale of the suffering numbs us into a kind of indifference. What on earth can we all do about this? Well, much more than we think. We can't fix every problem, but the ones we can I want to argue we must. And because we can, we must. This is the straight truth, the righteous truth. It is not a theory. The fact is that ours is the first generation that can look disease and extreme poverty in the eye. Look across the ocean to Africa and say this and mean it. We do not have to stand for this. A whole continent written off. We do not have to stand for this. Last year, at DATA, this organization I help set up, we launched a campaign to summon this spirit in the fight against AIDS and extreme poverty. We're calling it the One Campaign. It's based on our belief that the actions of one person can change a lot. But the actions of many, coming together as one, can change the world. Well, we feel that now is the time to prove we're right. There are moments in history when civilization redefines itself. We believe this is one. We believe that this could be the time when the world finally decides that the want and loss of life in Africa is just no longer acceptable. This could be the time that we finally get serious about changing the future, for most people, who live on planet Earth. A lot of people are getting together and working under this umbrella I told you about earlier, the One Campaign. I think they just have one idea in their mind, which is: Where you live in the world, should not determine whether you live in the world. History, like God, is watching what we do. When the history books get written I think our age will be remembered for three things. Really it's just three things that this whole age will be remember for. The digital revolution, yes. The war against terror, yes. And what we did, or did not do, to put out the fires in Africa. Some say we can't afford to. I say, we can't afford not to. Thank you." -Bono
  3. "Hi, I'm Chris from Coldplay. Unfair trade rules are keeping families around the world poor and stopping them from getting out of extreme poverty. But it doesn't have to be this way. Right now the world's most powerful governments are making deals that can either break this cycle of poverty or continue along the path that keeps millions of people living on less than a dollar a day. Please call the White House and tell President Bush that you support action to make trade fair. Call 1 202 456 1111, or visit http://www.maketradefair.com for more information."

  8. Oh my gawd Mildred, how close are you?? :o THAT'S GREAT!!!! :D *high five*
  9. From Rolling Stone, June 30-July 14, 2005. "Have you ever smoked a joint and listened to a record? I don't care what anyone else does-if you wanna get up in the morning, drop an E and do some stem-cell research, that's amazing. Personally, weed really does nothing for me. Maybe you need better weed. One time someone had some skunk, and I was really gonna make an effort to get stoned because I was sick of what everyone was saying about it. It didn't do anything. Y'know, chocolate does things for me that it doesn't do for anyone else." -Chris Martin
  10. I can't understand how people can hate U2.... It's really weird to me. I mean, this band feels like my life force sometimes and to think that people hate it so much... I can't help but feel personally insulted! People who decide that U2 is overrated, or sucks, or is the antichrist, are simply fools. They haven't listened with both ears and hearts open. And that's my say in it. iriden, oh don't worry! You'll get EVERY last detail! Plus pictures! My seats are front row right behind the stage (the demented pervert in me is definately making this smiley face: :wink3: ). I'M SO EXCITED! I can't believe I'll be seeing them Wednesday as well! I know I'll never be as close as I was in October (front row GA can't be beat), but I'm sure it'll be great on a completely different level. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! I'm going up early to hang around the loading docks to see them come in, everybody cross your fingers for me that they come out in the frigid 37 degree New England weather!!! I need to say something to Bono, I so wanted to say "Thank you for your work for Africa and the One campaign, Bono." back in October, but I froze up. I wont do that this time. And if they're too afraid to freeze their Irish bums off with us seasoned Bostonians, then well... Maybe in Hartford...
  11. *headdesk*
  12. Yeah, back in October. What can I say, I'm a fanatic.... It's horrifying, U2 tickets are easier to get and cheaper than COLDPLAY ones! What the hell is going on!?
  13. I've finished making my statement in it, so I'm hoping it'll just sink to the bottom. I already reported him on one post
  14. I see where you're coming from now. I personally don't share your take on music, but I mean... No one's the same. All you had to do was say why you hate U2 in the first place and I would have tried to understand and accept it. You don't have to express dislike through threats or immature statements, you know. I mean really... Out of line. I believe deeply in stating an opinion, and why you hold it and your reasons to back it up. Other than that, what's the point in voicing it? It's going to be questioned anyways. I hope you can stop with the trashy insults and we can all move on. I think you've made your statement, I accept your view. I hope you can accept mine, even if they are COMPLETELY opposite than you. Coexist, riiiight? So can we please let this thread sink to the bottom, now that you feel better by letting off your steam? I'm done with it. AND KELLI, LMFAO STFU YOO N003 LMFAO
  15. If questioning God devoids you of faith, then what's faith to be based on? If you're bringing up your dislike for U2 on the basis of religion, then maybe you haven't researched the band's history in this area. You can't trust asshole critics, you know. You have to find the information yourself. I take my information from the music itself, which I listen to religiously( :sneaky: ). "Bono still professes to be a "believer," but usually amid flurries of profanity. Sadly, millions of young fans see no danger in his spiritual inconsistencies. Teens fascinated with the band's soul-searching should be directed to 1 Timothy 6:3-5 and Ephesians 4:10-16. Imitating U2 will only lead to confusion, temptation and compromise." Oh God!!! LMFAO! Here's something you might not have thought of: I don't have faith in Jesus Christ as the son of God. Nor do I pray, or worship, or go to church, or temple. I simply love this band with my heart and soul. And that's all the faith I need. Jesus, can't we leave him out of this?
  16. Interesting.... I have no idea what you're trying to say
  17. OH MY GOD LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOO KELLI I DIDN'T EVEN FUCKING THINK OF THAT. LMFAOOOOOO
  18. Crius, don't even try. Some people you can talk to about things like this and some you can't. A lot just don't want to look past the entertainment factor, which is pretty sad. It must be boring to live that way. :snore:
  19. screw you and your devil music! lmfao if Bono's the devil I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to go to hell. = :wink3:
  20. lmfao but what if people find fat men sexually attractive? I take it you've never seen the Anton Corbijn directed video for 'One'.... lmfaooooo. You might get a kick out of that ;)
  21.   Oh gawd,Crius, that is so true.
  22. cliche n : a trite or obvious remark [syn: platitude, banality, commonplace, bromide] Scientist Video: "I'm going back to the start"-Chris walking backwards going back to the start. Talk Video: The band travels in a B movie style space ship, lands on a planet and finds a robot. They take one of his buttons. They walk around. Unless you just sit there and take it all literally and not look for the deeper meaning, no. It's not a cliche.
  23. That's so weird! His lyrics have actually saved my life on many occasions this year. That's really ironic. I must be the antichrist.
  24. Well..... I did jump over a row of seats to try and get closer..... :uhoh:
