  1. He's admitted they are a huge influence, along with many other bands. He's said himself that he wears a lot of different armbands and bracelets because it's an ode to the lead singer from the band, who used to do the same. Whether they sound alike, I can't comment on that. I have never listened to A-ha. All I know is that no matter who he's taking his influences from, I'm lovin' it. ;)
  2. Precisely why I chose it :wink3:
  3. *prays the to setlist gods for a full version of One Tree Hill* I'll have to go look for an MP3 of that snippet.
  4. I love my Tele! Great guitar, and for a very nice guitar is was "decently" priced...  It's pretty sad that I refused to get any other guitar because I wanted the exact style guitar Jonny uses... :stunned: It's my baby. :P
  5. A Fender Telecaster. Usually. I don't know the exact issue, or reissue, or even if it's a vintage one, but I have a '69 Telecaster Thinline that looks just like his. I'm sure his is better, but I still feel really cool playing Talk on it.
  6. I know this is random, but I can't help it. I'm absolutely in LOVE with the song 'One Tree Hill'. The lyrics are beautiful... "One Tree Hill" We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill As the day begs the night for mercy Your sun so bright it leaves no shadows, only scars Carved into stone on the face of earth The moon is up over One Tree Hill We see the sun go down in your eyes You ran like a river oh, to the sea You run like a river runs to the sea And in our world a heart of darkness A firezone where poets speak their hearts Then bleed for it Jara sang his song a weapon In the hands of love You know his blood still cries from the ground It runs like a river, runs to the sea It runs like a river to the sea I don't believe in painted roses or bleeding hearts While bullets rape the night of the merciful I'll see you again when the stars fall from the sky And the moon has turned red over One Tree Hill We run like a river to the sea, run to the sea We run like a river to the sea And when it's raining, raining hard That's when the rain will break my heart Raining, raining hard, raining in your heart Raining, rain into your heart, raining Oh great ocean, oh great sea Run to the ocean, run to the sea I'd pass out cold if I ever saw them perform this live, especially in New Zealand. I'm expecting some major MP3 action of those concerts!! I've noticed how a lot of great bands have very overrated, hugely popular albums. For example, and I KNOW people would hate me for saying this, but I feel that The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper is SLIGHTLY overrated (of course, considering the time period in which it was released, etc etc, it was genius). However, I think other albums of theirs were much better... Listening to Joshua Tree, however, I think that this album deserves every ounce of the compliments it recieves. Amazing lyrics, Bono's voice was incredible (just the sheer range, and the control he maintained) and musically it's astounding. Or so I feel, at the moment  Just thought I should get that out of my system :P
  7. KM, I love all your random U2 relation things  That's so cool! If I ever have kids, that's probably what I'll end up doing... :o
  8. ^I understand what you're talking about. I like to call it Chris' "Interperative Dance Moves". Very interesting... It's also how I dance, so... Great pics, by the way!!
  9. Chris borrowed his pants too, once. No one talks about that.
  10. To spend 3 hours watching Lord of the Rings and avoiding my dad, or not to spend 3 hours watching Lord of the Rings and avoiding my dad. That is the eternal question. :snore:
  11. Whoa, I just saw this. Have you ever heard With Or Without You? :stunned: His voice is so soothing, so powerful and so... sexy in that one song alone. Love Is Blindness from Achtung Baby also pops into my mind as a song where his voice is incredibly "soft". I dare anyone to listen to that song and tell me it's anything but beautiful. It made me love U2. And that is saying something. The only thing edgy and hard about that song is Edge's guitar solo. It's easy to get the wrong perception of U2 (and Bono's vocal style) by just listening to their single releases. Every song of their's is not Vertigo, nor is it Beautiful Day (or even Where The Streets Have No Name). If you are looking for an album recommendation I'd have to say listen to The Joshua Tree (of course, and I can't believe everyone HASN'T given this album a listen at least once in their life). And, perhaps, The Unforgettable Fire (listen to Bad and check out Bono's voice on that, amazing, I love it. The same goes for MLK, which is absolutely beautiful). I'd like to just tell you to go get them all,  Also, check out Achtung Baby. Brilliant. Hope this helps you (and anyone else, for that matter) out. I'm always on the look out for maybe swaying some people towards U2. ;) As for the thread topic, I'd rather not partake in this one. Three of my favorite bands and ranking them is just pointless, to me at least.
  12. I can't believe he said that to me. :o
  13. Whoa, I just saw the tattoo too!! Maybe he drew it? It looks like a small rose to me........ :stunned:  That's really weird!
  14. Ah. How friggin' adorable is he?
  15. Duh. Sheesh.
  16. I'd like more! :D
  17. Man, I'm fuckin' exhausted. :snore:
  18. Glory Days-Bruce Springsteen
  19. :stunned: Don't make me feel worse that I missed it :bigcry:
  20. You have excellent english, jeez!! ;) Better english than most people who have it as their native language (like me! :P ) Welcome to the board! Definately listen to Sleeping Sun if you haven't, it's my current favorite song. I'd say if you want to get someone completely into Coldplay (or even yourself), just have them listen to all of A Rush Of Blood To The Head. It got me obsessed, and look where I am now! :o
  21. If I had it to do over (and if I weren't such an obsessive person) I'd have just gotten the first disc. Frankly, I've only watched the second once or twice. It was only 11 bucks at Target a couple weeks ago, but nooo I just had to go over to Strawberries and fork out all my money for the "special edition"
  22.   Is that a James Bond movie?? lmfao I didn't know they did the music for that! Go figure!
  23. mad propz to you if you did draw it!! ;) I always find very expressive faces hard to draw, because it's hard to replicate the emotions fully with a pad and pencil (or at least for me). But that's very nice, well done!
  24. I need to move from the Armpit of America and get myself to California. No one cool comes to Rhode Island.
  25. I need to go to Guitar Center. Mommyyyyyy
