21-Dec-08: O2 Arena, Dublin - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos
Thanks Ian ;) That was an initial reaction yesterday. I'm a lot more relaxed now and I've got a lot of people looking out for tics for me too so hopefully something will come up. One thing I don't want to do is buy over ebay for some extortionate price just to make some bastard rich who doesn't even care about Coldplay or their music.

Nice one thanks for clearing that up :)

Guy included on a list of great bassists
Are they not cello's?? I'm pretty sure you don't play a double bass with a bow. Anyways on topic. Being a keen bass player myself I find that it's not really about the technicalities or the difficulty of the riffs, it's more important to pick the right line and notes to accompany the song or lead it if you want. I think Guy is pretty good at doing that and in many cases determines the whole rhythm of the song by himself in songs like GPASUYF, White Shadows, Low etc. One thing about that list though, HOW can you not have John Deacon from Queen or Andy Rourke from The Smiths in it?? IMO they are 2 of the most underrated musicians of all time.

How old are coldplay listeners?
I'm 21 and I've been a fan since I was 15 in 2002.

GPASUYF Cover
Thanks man :) I appreciate it. In terms of editing it's not really editing mistakes but rather mistakes on my behalf while trying to play the drums on the keyboard lol and thats why it seems out of sync. I played every part live and when I originally recorded the music 3 years ago I didn't have the same software I have now so I wasn't all that bothered and left the drums how they were. But thank you for the rating and comment :D Tony

TOO Contrasting?
I think the album sounds better when you swap Violet Hill and Viva La Vida around, it's still not perfect though because the double barrell middle songs upset the rhythm of the album. Try changing them round and see what you think!

What's up with chris's voice??
His voice only seems to really be an issue with the new songs. The old ones still sound solid. Violet Hill and Lovers In Japan you can hear his voice being strained. Viva La Vida was similar in the beginning, now they play it with a vocal track behind him and it sounds so much better.

Coldplay "to give away free song"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/music/newsid_7475000/7475452.stm Coldplay are planning a free song give-away for their forthcoming UK winter tour. The four-piece want to offer fans who have purchased tickets the chance to get their hands on an unreleased track. Lead singer Chris Martin said: "We're hoping to do this thing where we give away a song with every ticket." The band are currently sitting at the top of the singles chart with Viva La Vida, which shot to number one on download sales alone. Speaking on their official site, Martin added: "We have this song called The Goldrush, which (drummer) Will (Champion) sings. "We want to play it as part of the show, so we'd like to give it away with the ticket. That way the only people that know that song will be the people coming to the concerts." Ticket give-away The band also revealed their arena tour plans. The dates kick off at Bimingham National Indoor Arena on 1 December, before wrapping up with three shows at the London 02 arena on 14, 15 and 16 December. "We've got some incredible balls," joked Martin. "And I mean that in the most technological of senses. If you come to our concert, you'll see the most magical balls you've ever seen. And ours is the first concert in the world to feature them." "There are lots of surprises, including butterflies and painted drums and lots of colour and probably some things we haven't even thought of yet." The singer also said the band chose to embark on an arena tour ahead of a stadium jaunt this time around because "we're not a stadium band yet". "I think we're still trying to figure out how to make a room full of 10,000 people as exciting as possible, let alone a stadium. To me an arena feels like the perfect size canvas, so we're trying to master that," he added. The band previously played a stadium tour in the summer of 2005, where they recorded the video for single Fix You. Edit - can a mod edit the title to say away please :)

My Violet Hill Cover
No no I didn't find it offensive at all! :) I'm just grateful that people have taken the time to listen to it. I actually edited it a bit different since I put it on youtube, I added in a guitar bit that I missed out on the 2nd verse and also re-did some of the background bendy string bits haha. If people want I could upload? It's nothing major but they're subtle changes which I like.

My Violet Hill Cover
Haha thanks folks! Thats actually the first full cover I've put together using adobe audition. The thing I have trouble with is the drums. I can't actually play the drums and I don't own a drum kit, so I have to add drums by switching the keyboard to drum effects and pressing individual keys and it can be really hard. In terms of making it my own I guess in some ways I don't think I could their songs justice by messing around, the only other thing I may be able to do would be to add some little guitar licks here or there. I've also done a cover of GPASUYF which isn't brilliant but it's ok I guess. I actually recorded this 3 years ago but only added vocals yesterday lol. If you'd like to listen here it is http://www.mediafire.com/?omxpzmwojhf Thanks for all the nice comments and positive feedback. Peace Tony :)

Main Site Poll: Viva La Vida Favourite Track
Violet Hill. I know I'm only hearing the new songs a few hours and I know that Lost! and Lovers In Japan are gonna become huge favourites. Violet Hill is still my favourite I just love the whole rhythm and atmosphere of the song and I was hoping there was gonna be a lot more songs like it on the album but as of now it doesn't seem like there is. Will definately need to listen to it more and give a reviewed opinion in a few weeks
