The Sceintist is about losing someone near to you that you love. Chris Martin wrote it in mid-2001 while staying at Gwen's parents house one weekend. He found Gwen's father's old piano, a bit out of tune, and wrote the song right then and there. 2) What concept of love is explored in the song? The pain of losing someone that you love, and how to cope with it.
