  1. Seeing as how it is December 31, 2005. Is there anything you wish you knew on January 01, 2005 , that you now know. The only thing that comes to mind for me is to visit coldplaying.com sooner than June 2005 and to learn how to forward my ports for bit torrent. This thread should be a laugh again Decemeber 31, 2006. Please share your thoughts. Oh yeah, I should also tell myself back then to listen to Damien Rice ASAP.
  2. I read this thread the other day and thought it was strange that people had dreams about Coldplay. However, last night I had a dream I was in some sort of talent show. I was playing guitar and singing. I can only play guitar in real life and not sing at the same time. In my dream I played two songs that I can't remember. I was cheered on for an encore. There was a backing band that started in on the Beatles version of "Twist and Shout". I could play the guitar part but had trouble singing the vocals. Suddenly I heard more "oohs and aahs" in the background. The crowd loved it and wanted another song. I was tuning my guitar and thinking about what I could play when suddenly Will Champion starts in on the opening drum track to "In My Place". The spotlights all turn on to reveal me playing on stage with Coldplay. I start to freak out trying to remember the guitar chords for "In My Place". My heart pretty much explodes when I can't find a capo. Eventually I wake up in a cold sweat. Oh well, I have strange dreams sometimes that come to pass many years later. Hopefully this is one of them. At least I'll have a capo in the future.
  3. Congratulations on 30 pages of love Nik, I'm slowly becoming more addicted to this site, so I'll see you around. Have a happy new year as well. :)
  4. Okay, here goes... I wrote this song almost two years ago, when I first bought a keyboard, after finally discovering Coldplay. I bought AROBTTH in December 2003, and then bought my first keyboard in January 2004. I could only take one month of playing air piano along with AROBTTH before I had to buy one. I've played guitar for eight years as well. I promised myself I would begin piano lessons in 2006. Here is the first song I composed on the piano, inspired by Coldplay (music, no vocals). It's just me on acoustic guitar, bass, piano, and a string arrangement I created with Reason. "Lull" (3:41) - 5.06MB http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S133GXUI I titled this song "Lull". Here are some defintions of lull: Lull \Lull\, v. i. To become gradually calm; to subside; to cease or abate for a time; as, the storm lulls. Lull \Lull\, n. 1. The power or quality of soothing; that which soothes; a lullaby. [R.] --Young. 2. A temporary cessation of storm or confusion. Lull \Lull\ (l[u^]l), v. t. [imp. & p. p. Lulled (l[u^]ld); p. pr. & vb. n. Lulling.] [Akin to OD. lullen to sing to sleep, G. lullen, Dan. lulle, Sw. lulla; all of imitative origin. Cf. Loll, Lollard.] To cause to rest by soothing influences; to compose; to calm; to soothe; to quiet. " To lull him soft asleep." --Spenser. Such sweet compulsion doth in music lie, To lull the daughters of necessity. --Milton. This song has been a "Linus security blanket" for me. I always come back to it when need it. I always thought of it as a lullaby, so that's kind of where the title came from as well. I took a break from music production beginning in May 2005. I'm looking forward to producing again in 2006. Enough rambling, I am going to remix this song with more strings and "oohs and ahhs". I will post an update as soon as possible. I might even get the courage to write lyrics and sing along as well. Any feedback is welcomed. I've been needing a kick in the pants to start producing music again. Let me know who else this song reminds you of, besides Coldplay. I'm always up for listening to new artists. Please tell me what comes to mind when you listen to this song. I've been trying forever, to write lyrics for it. Although I have written quite a bit of music, this is my first attempt at sharing my music online. I hope you all like this Coldplay- inspired song. Thanks for listening. Is anyone else willing to share their Coldplay- inspired songs? :guitarist:
  5. 10/10 I like seeing MTF taped on Chris Martin's piano. It almost looks like the acronym "WTF" at first glance. That always makes me smile.
  6. Would anyone else be interested in sharing originally composed songs? I'd like to share some songs I've written on guitar and piano that were inspired by Coldplay. I'm looking for feedback on how to improve my songs. :guitarist: Thanks.

  9. Here's a short live clip from LA 2005 "Check this out. This is backwards." http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B998AXWA Enjoy!
  10. Don't worry frostbitepanda, I'll check in for treatment with you as well singing "The Scientist (reversed)" with 1510 plays on my Ipod. ;)
  11. Thanks for the information. I read somewhere that Van Halen 1 was recorded at 1/4 cent downtuned. I guess everyone else tuned to Eddie's guitar. Even David Lee Roth sang to Eddie's tuning. I also thought that 'The Scientist" was recorded at a really slow speed and they upped the tempo afterward. I guess it was just a really out of tune piano afterall. They kept the original take and expanded from there.
  12. It DOES! Alot of their backwards versions sound like Sigur ros. And yes... take in the Coldplay cleanliness. :) @Sienna, what is the address of that website? @frostbitepanda, can you recommend a sigur rós album, so that I can see what you a referring to. @*andrea*, Everyone seems to love you here at Coldplaying so feel free to add me to your list of admirers. About it being too slow, I'm working on a dance remix of the Scientist- reversed to the speed of 130 bpm. It might take a while, but I haven't been producing music in about a year. I still feel pretty rusty, but I'll share the remix with Coldplaying when it is finished. Thanks to everyone for your replies as well. :)
  13. Don't worry. I would have soiled my pants(both sides), and then had a heart attack. Did you manage to get a drumstick fudge? I'm glad to hear that "The Scientist(reversed)" can bring happiness to someone besides myself. He was taking pictures but I was so shocked he was there I A) forgot to take a photo of him and B) didn't catch the fucking camera when he threw it!!! Guy next to me fucking got it!! and his friend caught the harmonica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   (the very one that touched both Guy and Chris's lips!!!!!!! :stunned: ) Wow! I'm sorry to hear about your close encounter. I'm sure your day will come. In the mean time, listen to Chris beautifully sing to you in reverse. As corny and cheesey as it sounds, this song has actually given me a new hope in life. I guess because I've attached my own meanings to the lyrics in reverse. Enjoy friend!
  14. Chris Martin (from Rolling Stone July 14, 2005): "On the second album I was thinking there was something missing. I was in this really dark room in Liverpool, and there was a piano so old and out of tune. I really wanted to try and work out the George Harrison song 'Isn't It A Pity,' but I couldn't. Then this song came out at once. I said, 'Can you turn on the recorder?' The first time I sung it is what's out there." I have to pitch my keyboard sharp. Does anyone know the exact "numbers" to make it sound like the album version? Standard tuning won't cut it. Thank you!

  16. I've recently memorized the lyrics to The Scientist in reverse. I found out there more to the song backwards than just "ooh ooh ooh oooooh ahh"! I don't think there's a better way to get strange looks in public than to start singing along to "The Scientist(reversed)" while listening to it with your headphones. I guess Coldplay IS an obsession for me. :D
  17. :P I'd like to see a vid of that. I think that's Chris telling your cat to worship the devil. I used to reverse headbang and reverse airguitar to this track until this one girl thought I was doing something funny.
  18. So I added all of the tracks from "Coldplay-The Scientist(Limited Edition CD & DVD Single Digipak) to my MP3 player. After a couple of listens, "The Scientist(reversed)" ended up being my favorite track of all. I remember what was the beginning of "The Scientist(reversed)" from their recent concert. I didn't realize the whole track reversed was a masterpiece as well. You can enjoy this track here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E8GZA53D I've memorized the entire song backwards. I catch myself humming or even sometimes singing along to this track out loud at work. I'll forever connect this track to Christmas 2005. It's unique lyrics and melody snapped me out of the slump I've been in for the past six months. What I love about this track reversed is that the lyrics can mean whatever you want them to be. In the end, Chris Martin and Co. only want you to be healed from any sufferering you might be going through. Forward, backward or sideways, this will always be my favorite Coldplay song. I'm sorry if this comes across as very strange. I'll retreat to my puddle of tears now. Anyone else out there feel the way I do? ooh ooh ooh ooooooooh AHH!!!
  19. Thanks for the video link coldplay9027! This song brings back some memories.

I want to go. I need tickets and friends that want to travel to Omaha to see Coldplay. I'm glad to see your enthusiasm. I saw them at the Verizon in Bonner Springs in September and it ruled. Welcome to the boards! P.S. I had a friend I used to call Wizzo The Long-Haired Clown. Is that where your name comes from?
