  1. Hello ClearAsCrystal, I am from Kansas. I don't know too many Coldplay addicts around here (Kansas). I haven't found a better Coldplay forum though. Thanks for the welcome too. Where are you from?
  2. Thanks everyone, At least I know I'm not alone in my Coldplay addiction. Many Coldplay songs have moved me to tears. This is coming from a United States Marine, who are not allowed to die(cry) without permission. :P
  3. Don't worry mate. I still consider myself nOObish around here. Welcome to Coldplaying. It's actually good to get yourself lost in the forums! I am a big fan of the multimedia section.
  4. If you ever see a John Smith at the hub, that's me. I get a lot of live shows from dimeadozen.org or thetradersden.org Coldplay and Coldplaying make me very happy. I'm glad to spread the happiness!
  5. I've been trying to reply to a lot of old posts during the Thanksgiving break . I remember finally posting and being welcomed here at Coldplaying. This has to be one of the friendliest and best forums out of the entire internet. :) "And give me love over, love over, love over this." My new job is working out very well too. I'm off to listen to Politik once again!
  6. You can be obsessed about Coldplay here, and no one will judge you. Welcome to the site! I'm off to listen to some Keane now. Have a good time here!
  7. Looks like you jumped the gun on your welcomes. Please enjoy yourself here. This place feeds my Coldplay addiction!
  8. Welcome Javi! Greetings from Kansas, U.S.A. I've been here three months now. This is one of the best message boards on the internet. Have a good time here!
  9. Check musiciansfriend.com or americanmusical.com A common bass guitar is the fender jazz bass. With shipping your looking at $500. Getting amplified will cost you more but it is worth it, just to piss off your neighbors playing the intro to Van Halen "Running With The Devil". Let me know if you need more help. :smug:
  10. coldplaylive.no-ip.org This is not a internet address, but for direct connect. "Corum" is your best bet for help on the Coldplay hub. I need to pay a visit there again, real soon. Have fun there!
  11. Ladder To The Sun- FLAC(Lossless) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0OSDMSRF This is dedicated to everything that Coldplaying.com has helped me discover/enjoy so far. Long live Coldplay (in lossless)! Coldplay [2003.02.25] - Bell Centre Montreal (Live) "Ladder To The Sun" Please post comments if you enjoy this share. It makes me willing to share more of my Coldplay collection Thank You!
  12. Cool, I finally acquired the SHN version of " Ladder To The Sun" (lossless). How could this song not be acknowledged and shared with the rest of the world? PM me for a link to "Laddder To The Sun" in lossless (SHN). Cheers! "I had it all and I risked it all..."
  13. Just snatched the torrent of this... 1. square one 2. politik 3. yellow 4. speed of sound 5. daylight 6. god put a smile upon your face 7. x & y 8. It sounds like it was a fantastic concert. FWIW, I got goosebumps once again listening to the crowd singing at the very end of "Fix You". I wish "Fix You" was extended that long when I saw them. "Sing it again...and again!"
  14. I don't know if this the right place to ask, but does anyone have the original shn or flac file for "Ladder to the Sun". My version is only 160 kbps. The tag says it was from the Bell Centre Montreal (Live) [2003.02.25] performance. It also says encoded by Xing (Guess). I'm sure that the lossless version of this show is somewhere out there. Thank you.
  15. Lance replied to garrpier's topic in Coldplay Live
What's up garrpier? I'll be out on the lawn with my brother if he doesn't back out. I might try to sneak over the gate to get better seats. I haven't been to Verizon Amphitheatre since last year's Ozzfest where I got f*cked up. I missed Coldplay at Memorial Hall three years ago because I didn't know about them then. Not this time. It's getting hard to sleep too.
  16. This thread reminded me of falling in love with Coldplay last year. Initially, I was disappointed that "The Scientist" wasn't included on the bonus CD. After a couple of listens, "See You Soon" really stood above the rest of the tracks. The ending still kills me where Johnny is making his guitar cry with an E-bow, and Chris singing "AH-OUU-OUU-OUU-OUU-AH". Hmm, now I can't take this track off of repeat.
  17. Here's a quote I found... 'Fix You' "It's supposed to be a church organ but it isn't. In fact it's a keyboard that my father-in-law gave to Gwyneth my wife, and it sat in the house for ages and then I turned it on one day and it had these amazing sounds on it." I'm sure you can get a decent emulation of it using a software synth like Native Instruments B4, or USB Charlie Retro. I've read some people complain about the sound of the organ in "Fix You". I guess you have to really put the lyrics into perspective about Gwenyth losing her father. It is absolutely brilliant how Chris could take something so tragic and create something so poignant and beautiful for her. "I will try to fix you." Truly a heartfelt line. Actually the whole song is genius... When you try your best, but you don't succeed When you get what you want, but not what you need When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep Stuck in reverse And the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you can't replace When you love someone but it goes to waste Could it be worse? Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you When high up above or down below When you're too in love to let it go But if you never try you'll never know Just what you're worth Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you Tears stream down your face When you lose something you cannot replace Tears stream down your face And I... Tears stream down your face I promise you I will learn from my mistakes Tears stream down your face And I... Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you
  18. Hello bdevil89, I would suggest that you learn major and minor pentatonic scales to help your ear playing. Here's a link to help you. http://www.guitarnoise.com/article.php?id=73 There might be too much information to digest in one setting. Just try to follow the bottom two finger patterns. For "swallowed in the sea", the song is in the key of B major. Basically you place this box pattern for the root "R" to start on fret number 7 on the low E string... http://www.guitarnoise.com/images/articles/73/13.gif Anchor your index finger on the fourth fret. Commit this pattern to memory. Eventually there are five pentatonic scales that you will be able to connect the entire fretboard to. It sounds like Johnny is using a "tremolo" strum pattern to play single notes in the B major scale. I think he is playing them an octave higher, so the major pentatonic pattern would be twelve frets higher then above. Let me know if this helps or is too confusing.
  19. Thanks! I didn't think much of this song until I learned how to play it on guitar. Now I have to teach myself the piano chords.
  20. What's up Phil? I'm planning on going to the show as well. Send me a private message and maybe we can meet somewhere before the show. I've been waiting three years to see Coldplay live. Cheers!
  21. I almost feel as if it were fate that I decided to listen to Yahoo Launch one day. Coldplay- The Scientist came on. Every note on that song touched my soul that no other song has since. I went out and bought AROBTTH the next day. The rest is history. B.C. means "Before Coldplay" for me. I finally get to see them on the 21st.
  22. Yes, I can't fathom using Reason without a midi keyboard. It depends on what you want out of Reason. I reckon you can already play guitar (thanks for the tabs by the way). I'd look into Reason Ignite or Reason Power to get you going.
  23. I think I read somewhere that it was Gwenyth's father's organ. That would make sense considering the meaning behind the song. Not sure exactly what type of organ though.
  24. Hello everyone, I've been a lurker here since X + Y came out. Excellent album by the way. I finally get to see Coldplay at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in KCMO on September 21st. Anyone else here have a Coldplay song that just fits so well with a certain moment in your life? For me, it has been the song Politik. I've always loved the outro to Politik, but the past couple of days it has directly touched my soul. I'm quiting a job and starting another. After having to cut through all of the bull sh*t "Politiks", there is only one line I want to scream out... "But give me love over, love over, love over this And give me love over, love over, love over this." If you listen closely with headphones, the outro will give you goosebumps when you hear everything layered to perfection.
