  1. Thanks for your very generous share Bitterprince. Now I don't have an excuse to learn the piano part to this song.
  2. I finally discovered the studio version of "Gravity" off of the latest "Talk' single. I've also been getting into Sigur Ros lately. After seeing the Sigur Ros video, "Svefn-g-englar", I am a believer. People keep commenting on the outro to "Gravity" sounding like Sigur Ros. I started playing along to the "Gravity" outro one piano key at a time. Once I learned the basic melody I did my best at playing and singing along in my best Sigur Ros vocals. Playing and singing along to the "Gravity" outro gave me goosebumps. I haven't heard a Coldplay song song so good since I first heard "The Scientist". It reminded me that life is good. I captured what I could to record. Lance- Gravity outro http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4S8P35VQ Please supply your own Sigur Ros vocals and feel free to play a mean air piano as well. Thanks for listening!

It's funny for me to learn a song on the piano before I could play it on the guitar.
  4. I've been sitting on my string arrangement of "lull". I still have a lot more to add to it, but most of it doesn't sound quite right. Here's a sneak peek at my orchestral version of "lull". It will be me on piano, guitar, and bass. I'm not really that talented. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OMVHXUUQ Thanks for the kind words of encouragement ClearAsCrystal. Enjoy!

I've found that this song breaks all race barriers. "Ladder To The Sun" FLAC - Lossless http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0OSDMSRF When I play it for my friends, they all say the same thing. "That's Coldplay?" :wiseguy: I tell them that it is the tip of the iceberg of Coldplay. Most of them become believers after that. "So if you want me then you can have me Take me, oh baby grab me 'Cause' if you want me then you can have me Cause you're not just anyone You're a ladder to the sun Oh you're not just anyone You're a ladder to the sun" I'm not going to lie. The ladies do love that line. I wish I had wrote it. "I had it all and I risked it all!"
  6. Hello northwestchiller, You sound very satisfied with your life Ronnie. I hope to be in your position in 20 years. Right now, I'm lacking the beautiful wife, a job I love, and the 19 year old cat. At least we share the love for Coldplay. Welcome to one of the friendliest forums on the internet northwestchiller. :)

Sorry it took so long coldplay_steph, I have given you the honorary name MEOQUANEE Cheyenne name meaning "wears red." The tradition is that you are named afted the first thing that you see is alive. I visioned you playing a beautiful song on your pink guitar. Red was the closest thing to pink. Please do not take this name very lightly. I had a vision of you tearing it up on the pink stratocaster. Let me know if you need any help playing the guitar. My vision of you killing the guitar won't go away. You are "MEOQUANEE" - Cheyenne name meaning "wears red." I'll ask my parents how to pronouce it. Congratulations on your new Cheyenne name coldplay_steph I can give you the whole tribal adoption ceremony here in the states as well.
  8. I am a member of the Northern Cheyenne tribe (Native American). :indianchief: I grew up outside of the reservation and tribal religion. Believe me, it was strange coming back every summer and trying to participate in various ceremonies. I do remember the feeling I got from sweatlodges, sundances, etc. "Talk" mentions how "they're talking in a language I don't speak". Everything was spoken in traditional Cheyenne, from beginning to end. I only understood English, so I faked what I could. Most of these rituals are highly guarded. I can only mention the feeling and emotion I received from these ceremonies. Imagine being close to a fire and watching it consume every bad and negative aspect about yourself being taken away. The whole time there is traditional Cheyenne songs being sung. The ceremonies would literally reach into your soul and rip out your bad spirits. Looking back, my parents reminded me that all of the prayers were about healing your close friends and family. My culture never taught that there were enemies, or to pray for evil against them. I'm sorry but typing that made me burst into tears. Give your friends and family a hug and remind them that you love them. Listening to Coldplay gives me that same emotion of "being close to a fire and watching it consume every bad and negative aspect about yourself being taken away". I can share a social song with you. Here is a song everyone can dance to no matter what your religion. Intertribal (Randall Paskemin, 4:29)- "We hear the bells over there, dancers come out and dance to those bells." Come out and dance Coldplaying members! You are all welcome in this circle. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=08QD5J1J
  9. 23 August 1978 Yeah, I'm an old timer. US: Grease - Frankie Valli :sleeping2: UK: Three Times A Lady - The Commodores ...The Commodores? ...Three Times A Lady? Hell yeah! This is songwriting at its finest. This is beautiful ivory keys, heartfelt lyrics, and a passionate voice. All of you youngsters need to check out this brilliant song. ...end rant  Phew! Where are my blood pressure pills? :uhoh2: Seriously, I wish I could find someone that would inspire me to write a song as magnificent as this. I know you're out there. :shy: "THREE TIMES A LADY" The Commodores/Lionel Richie Thanks for the times that you've given me, The memories are all in my mind. And now that we've come to the end of our rainbow There's something I must say out loud. You're once, twice, three times a lady, and I love you. Yes, you're once, twice, three times a lady, And I love you I love you. When we are together the moments I cherish, with every beat of my heart. To touch you, to hold you, to feel you, to need you. There's nothing to keep us apart. You're once, twice, three times a lady, and I love you. I love you.
  10. Coldplay - Swallowed In The Sea (Gues Blue Wave Remix) http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26462 This song will always put me in a good mood. :)
  11. Welcome to the boards "the orange glow" Do you have any original material to share? It is possible that we could piece together a Coldplay cover over the internet, even though I'm all of the way down in Kansas. I'll do my best to be Johnny on guitar. Have fun here at Coldplaying!
  12. I finally received Bling? I had to look close at my screen to make sure I was seeing it right. Oh what a rush! Was it better or worse than you thought? :P For me it was better, because I thought that ther was a bug in the system that let me receive Bling instead of C P c r e d i t s. Bling is back folks!
  13. els, I used cubase which is bundled with some of the higher priced soundcards. You'll also need a microphone and pre-amp. I recommend checking out http://www.kvraudio.com for more information on all of these. There's more technical language to recording guitar. Do not get discouraged. Let me know if you need any further help with this. I listened to my first rough draft of this song and realized how much I improved over time. Good luck and have fun! Bitterprince, The piano part was the first song I wrote on my keyboard. I am not a great piano player but I can play the main four chord shapes on piano. That's basically all this song is, the white keys on the piano in C major. I cheated by using the transpose button on my keyboard to match the "key" of my acoustic guitar. I'm hoping to take piano lessons so that I can play my songs without the transpose button. I would also like to write more intricate piano lines. Here's a start for how to play this. I wrote the song in "G" major, but it was way too slow. I tried to re-record it at a faster tempo, but it never had the same feel. I had to pitch bend the song two steps to make it faster, so its is in "A" major. The guitar is tuned in "Double dropped D" tuning. If your guitar is in standard tuning (EADGBe- low to high), then you tune the top and bottom string down one step to D. The tuning is then (DADGBd- low to high). Then you'll have to put a capo on the second fret to match the song. Sorry if it is confusing. A very basic chord structure would be... It's start's off as the intro x 2 : A - F#min verse x 2 : A - D - A - E -A - D - A - C#min (Here's where the piano enters) pre x 2 : F#min - D - E - A chorus (same as intro) x 2 verse x 2 pre x 2 chorus x 2 verse x 2 pre x2 Outro (same as intro) x 2 I'll post tabs later. It is a lot of open string chords in double dropped D tuning. Thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement
  14. I like your song! It reminds me of Warning Sign. Did that song inspire you? Thanks, Pretty much all of AROBTTH inspired me to learn piano. The outro of "Warning Sign" made me really want to learn how to play. I've got a rough draft of "Proof" that I made this morning. :/ I'll have a better copy and whole song up as soon as possible. Enjoy! Proof verse (1:05)- 1.5MB http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HBTTX58J Lance
  15. Here's my rough draft of "Proof". I'll add the strummed acoustic guitar part later. There's more to the piano part as well. I'm still trying to figure it out. ;) Proof verse (1:05)- 1.5MB http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HBTTX58J
  16. Four chords can't describe your beauty. I guess i'll give it a try though. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HVTUYPEN Lore.MP3 I play my song for you Lore. Lance

What a lovely post!! Should be nominated for "post of the week", IMO!! :D Thanks mc_squared, I guess it's alright to be unique every now and then. I will definitely adopt any coldplaying member that wants to become an honorary Northern Cheyenne tribal member.

This is a pretty cool thread. I am a Native American from the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. :indianchief: I haven't come across any other Native Americans on coldplaying yet. If there are any out there please say "Hello". I always have some sort of Coldplay rocking in my car as well. I think it eventually got my brother to like "The Scientist". I guess that I always assumed everyone else on this site was white. :P I think being a Coldplay fan has less to do with skin color and depends more on your personality type. My favorite thing to do at work is to take my earphones out and ask my co-workers, "how is Coldplay so f*cking good?" All of them just laugh and shake their head. Anyways, the diversity here at coldplaying is outstanding. I send love to all of my coldplaying brothers and sisters. Lance

  21. dBpowerAMP works pretty well for me
  22. The actual chord progression for the song came when I opened a book on alternate guitar tunings. It had double dropped D listed as well as some chord shapes. I tried a few D major chords but all of the G major chords came without any reference. This is one of those songs where everything fell into place really quick. I love the alternate tunings. Anyone care for tabs of this song? It is rather easy to play along with on guitar.
  23. Thanks for the compliments. I guess tomorrow will be 01-01-06. I'm not sure why I took off so long on producing, but I am glad to get back to it. I'm very pleased that you all have enjoyed what I've produced so far. I've started on a string arrangement that has a vocal line that I hear just "screaming" over it. I've decided to speed it up a few BPM's as well. This has definitely made me want to finish a remix of this song. Thank you all very much!
  24. I rock Coldplay in my iPod at work in one ear. Being a supervisor, I have many moments when there are at least one or two people b!tching about something pointless. I act like I care and push my earphone in deeper so I can hear Chris Martin louder. Coldplay is my secret sanity. Everyone should own an MP3 player in 2006!
