Cannot agree with you more. This may get rant-y, but I feel for the oldplayers. Though I dont share their opinion, I feel bad. They're waiting for a certain type of album to come from the band but it just isn't going to happen. And then I look at the band and they look like this: I mean, they dont give a fuck what anyone thinks and they're having fun!

The band have actually said that before. While I agree this is generally the case, I know some songs they've written more recently, though they've been written in a short amount of time, weren't very well received by some here.
