Coldplay - A Head Full of Dreams Date TBD After last year's introspective Ghost Stories, which reflected frontman Chris Martin's serparation from wife Gwyneth Paltrow, Martin has said Coldplay are seeking "something colourful and uplifting" for their seventh LP. "It's hard to perfect a happy song," he confessed recently. "Pharrell manged it. Stevie Wonder managed it. Bill Withers managed it. I haven't managed it yet." The band has been holded up in London with Norwegian production clan Stargate, who've produced hits for Rihanna, Beyoncé and Katy Perry (and Coldplay's 2014 one-off "Miracles"). Adding to the mystery, Martin has said A Head Full of Dreams could be their finale. "It's like the last Harry Potter book or something," he said recently. "Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something."

trolololololo. I'd say the next bit of news will be a single announcement. In which case the site will slow to a crawl, and if you do get through, one of the mods will edit the title of the thread like they did when the title was announced.

I use the same 'excuse' when ppl ask me why I support the hockey team that I do (whom are also getting slack for their recent lack of quality). I guess ppl waking up to see the LP7 thread will freak out over the pages we added again!

I was thinking about adding those, but did not for various reasons. Like: Lost+ is just Lost with the Jayz appearance, Atlas was a lyric video not an MV, etc. I wouldn't call any of them very memorable anyways...

Well, I'm just an outsider to this project, but seems to me you need a) an editor b) a song decided on without which this project has no legs. I think the interest will come once you have those things solid. I suggest a poll to at least get point b down, and snoop around for an editor.

To wrap it up (since ppl think we're fighting), I can respect the OPINION that people prefer Oldplay to Newplay. But what gets my goat is when ppl say it as if their word is gospel and even threaten to quit supporting the band. As a fan from LP2 era, I can say with straight face that I don't mind the band's recent output and not in any fear of its future.

I don't feel this way. It's a disagreement, but everyone's been respectful so far and not attacking the poster, instead attacking the points. Like a good debate should be and what forums were designed for. Beats the hell out of waiting for a single to drop!

I'd listen to all 6 of these songs. Why can't I like all 6. Why are you pitting them against each other? They're from the same band. But i'll play your game. Yeah, I would rather listen to Politik, Clocks, and Trouble. Does that make ASFOS, Magic and POC bad songs? Why can't they all be good, or all be bad, or some good, some bad?

See, I don't quite buy this "deterioration in artistic quality" business. I don't know where it comes from, but I would guess it's related to the pop thing again.

If Chris (and the rest of the band) were so concerned with chart success and popularity, they would've promoted GS more. I really don't think it's about that nor is it about the money. I genuinely feel Chris has taken some influence from today's pop music (ON TOP OF HIS EXISTING INFLUENCES FROM BEFORE) and did so not to sell records, but because he thinks it's good. Someone asked this earlier "The only question I make to you all is this: do you think it's better the Chris who collaborated with Richard Ashcroft and Micheal Stipe or the one who makes feat. with Jay-Z and Rihanna?" My honest answer is to choose the more recent Chris who collaborated with all 4 artists because he experienced more types of music from different genres and took the best from each of them. Maybe that type of music doesnt speak to you as much, but it speaks to new listeners because of the cross collaboration between genres. You can see/hear the influences, no doubt, as you travel through the eras, but the 'Coldplay-ness' can still be heard in GS, albeit to a lesser degree. I don't think the perceived poppiness of GS is an indication of Coldplay selling out or getting his mind twisted by pop music, but a sign of a group taking in as many influences as they can to try and reach/please the most people

There's almost no doubt in my mind that pop music today is no longer selling music, but selling the person and a lifestyle. Especially when ANYONE can make a tune now and just wear the right clothing (or lack thereof) and poof, you've got the next big thing the teeny-boppers want on their bedroom walls. ^ Agreed. but this all came about just because Chris posted a picture in support of JB and ppl starting throwing a fit over it. Again, it's a non-issue, and i'm disappointed we spent more than one post on the subject. I mean, it's okay NOT to post. Just because we have no news and nothing to talk about doesn't mean we gotta start posting things because there's a minuscule connection to the band.

Iunno, the thing about what ColdplayAtlas did is that it was more a reaction video; quick and simple. If you're looking to do a lip-sync, you'd have to hope you can decipher the lyrics in a timely manner (assuming you wanna release your video in a timely manner after getting the song, decipher the lyrics, have everyone learn the lyrics, shoot the video, edit the videos, etc). OP's original idea to choose an existing song has its own problems. Just seems like it isn't attached to a particular event in Coldplay's calendar. Just a project to keep yourselves busy. Anywho, I would personally choose a more upbeat song (Clocks, Viva, Paradise, ASFOS) than a slow one like the one's suggested so far (The Scientist, Yellow, Warning Sign).

^ exactly. On top of that, might I point out that just because a person makes music that you don't like, doesn't make them a bad person. Of course this doesn't automatically make them a good person either, but you don't know them in real life, you nor I can make that call. But why assume they're bad people? I guess it's just based on outlook and worldview.... Anyways....
