okay, i can review Jarvis Cocker's "Jarvis" album which is being released tomorrow (in UK). i thought, that would be really good if people could read some reviews before they buy that album EDITED it's done just say when/where should i post it :)

Marshall Matters LP is a classic album. everything else by him is mediocre, but that LP is a really good one great beats, great lyrics

the "funny" thing that the White House estimated around 50,000 and now it looks like the number's 2 or even 3 times higher if not more. the bad thing that Iraq is in civil war now, and this number will definitely grow...

Iraq's health minister says between 100,000 and 150,000 civilians have been killed in the war, far more than other previously accepted figures. Officials say the total is based on estimates of the number of bodies brought to mortuaries and hospitals. Casualty figures are a controversial topic, with estimates or counts ranging from 50,000 to 650,000 deaths. No official count has ever been made public. The health ministry is run by supporters of a radical anti-US cleric. Study dismissed In October, the UK medical journal The Lancet published a study saying nearly 655,000 Iraqis have died as a result of the war - a far higher death toll than other estimates. The study was dismissed by President George W Bush and other US officials as not credible. It has based on cluster samples rather than body counts. Previous counts, such as the Iraq Body Count, held that about 50,000 had people had been killed, based on partial figures from Iraqi institutions and media reports. This figure was informally endorsed by senior American and Iraqi officials. The head of the Baghdad central mortuary said on Thursday that he was receiving up to 60 victims of violent death - from insurgent violence and sectarian strife - each day at his facility alone. Separately, the US military says three of its personnel have been killed in two separate incidents in Iraq. Two soldiers were hit on Thursday by a roadside bomb in western Baghdad. In Anbar province - a focal point of Sunni Arab resistance - the Americans say a marine died on Thursday of wounds sustained in fighting. At least 23 US troops have been killed in November. In October, at least 105 soldiers were killed, the fourth highest monthly toll since US forces overthrew Saddam Hussein, and the worst for US casualties in nearly two years.

well, i kinda tried to recommend new music in my recommendation thread, didn't really work :( of course i got some nice replies but mainly for more known stuff like Sufjan or Damon Albarn. the "new bands" didn't really get too much attention, i think :dozey: so yes, it will be hard... well, i don't know i would probably stick to the new stuff theme :\ i can take 3 new albums per week then, if it helps but i agree on the general theme of classic reviews, that could work (90s albums, pop week etc.). we could review some classics. underrated and overrated, both. if people are willing to discover new music, this thread will be succesful, don't worry. we just need contributors :thumbsup:

well, yes it would. but probably we could link the "review threads" to the first post? and then that sticky topic would be a "general discussion of reviews + suggestions etc." one, dunno...

i like the idea with a sticky archive thread. though, it should not be locked, because we, normal members, couldn't edit posts then :P i also like the suggestion about starting a new thread for every album/2 albums daily. that doesn't require too much space, anyway.

we can exchange links through PM, MSN, e-mail etc. i thought, we reviewers, should be in contact daily. i have an oink account (torrent site where everything leaks) + some other sources like forums or other torrent sites. so i think if something "new" arrives, i'd know about that immediately that would be really great, if we'd review so-called "hot albums" which are really fresh (leaked albums for example). people would be interested, i guess

well, i don't think it's necessary. i was thinking that "the job" of a reviewer would be: - write 1 max. 2 reviews per week (10-15 minutes maximum) - listen to 4-5 full new albums at least once (4-5 hours) + to a classic if the reviewer hasn't heard that album yet (+ 4-5 hours) so it means this would take you max. 8-10 hours in a week. but actually probably even less

well, IMO, there would be a main, long, full review and other contributors would only post some notes on this album in 1-2 sentence with a rank. well, at the end we'd get an average of the ranks and post it. the main idea, imo, is that coldplaying could become a source for people if they are searcing for new music ;)

great! :thumbsup: you basicly would need to review an album. just describe it in 10-12 sentences or stuff like that, why it's good or why it's bad, worth a listen or not worth etc... i think we could review 2 albums every day (one of the newest ones, and one of classics). the reviewers would be always different (just to spare some time) if we'll get 10 people, you'd have 1 review/week if we'll get 5-6, then probably 2 in a week

i can take 2 days if it helps although, people should really contribute this time :dozey:

yes, the New Year's Eve is more popular in Russia. and also by Russians who live abroad, like me. Christmas is more religious, and it also a working day, so i guess that's why the Christmas lost it's magic in Russia, unfortunately
