The Oasis Thread
because they dont care about charting singles and big hits, even right at/just after their commercial peak they only released 3 UK singles from Be Here Now. Just enjoy the music and stop worrying about where it charts, it's not like they need more chart success anyway, not many British bands can claim every one of their studio albums has got to number 1. And very few rock bands can claim to have had 8 number 1 singles.

Brownsville Girl!
I am addicted to Brownsville Girl by Bob Dylan! Who else has heard it recently? I've generally not liked his stuff from the 80s onwards but I've been getting into it a bit more recently and this song is just amazing, 11 minutes long and just great!

Random Coldplay thoughts...
My random Coldplay thought is that people should check out MY music on myspace, it kinda sounds slightly like coldplay! And I'm on the Coldplaying Charity CD too! Nothing like cheap self-promotion huh??

The Verve
At first I was really disappointed with the album but it's definitely growing on me! Sounds a bit too much like a Richard Ashcroft solo album with more interesting guitar work and bass lines, I was hoping for more experimental/psychadelic songs like stuff like Catching The Butterfly and Neon Wilderness, or maybe some really spacey Storm In Heaven type stuff, but I guess in their 30s and not strung out it would be kinda fake if they were still making music like that. The album has definitely grown on me though, I love 'I See Houses', 'Noise Epic', 'Valium Skies' and Appalachian Springs'. Most of the tracks are very good actually, but I still think it's their worst album - better than Ashcroft solo though!!

Kaiser Chiefs
The new single is really bad, I was expecting something different considering Mark Ronson is producing the album, but really it sounds like the same old stuff, which is kind of ironic when you think Ricky Wilson has criticised Oasis for not progressing. They'll clearly never have another song as good as stuff like I Predict A Riot etc.

The Verve
I really like This Could Be My Moment, it doesn't really sound like a typical Verve song, but it shows good variety in their sound, I really like it. They have a lot of great b-sides though

The Verve
No way! Their album tracks are much better than the singles, stuff like Velvet Morning, Catching The Butterfly, Weeping Willow and Come On on Urban Hymns. The whole of A Northern Soul and A Storm In Heaven are genius.

I'm thinking that I'm shocked at how good Falling Down is

Last Album that you bought/acquired?
I bought 'Desire' by Bob Dylan recently, his album from the mid-70s I think, its a great album, lots of really long songs on it too. Hurricane and Joey are genius.

there's two version though, I think the original album version is MUCH better than the Chemical Brothers remix

Have you heard it yet?

I just noticed you can download the 'Falling Down' single version from Itunes now, I got it and its amazing! Much better than SOTL and very different to the Oasis norm. Reminds me of Coldplay and even a little of Radiohead!

The Verve
I've only heard the single which I was kind of disappointed with considering some hype I'd hear about it, I mean it was good and definitely better than Ashcroft's solo stuff but hardly up to the standards of the best stuff on their first 3 albums. I'm waiting for the album release though I like to get the whole album in a nice shiny CD and booklet rather than downloading leaks.

The Oasis Thread
I don't think SOTL is amazing but its definitely better than Lyla I think, which is a good sign. And it is growing on me each time I hear it. I'm definitely glad it's fast and loud though, a lot of their recent singles have been kind of slow and 'plodding' - good to hear them do something fast again, reminds me of a stripped down and more raw style of something from Be Here Now like My Big Mouth and It's Getting Better (Man!!) which is definitely good.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Their next album should be extremely psychadelic and have lots of songs like Strawberry Swing!

The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight was genius! I've only seen it once but I'm hoping to see it again on Imax when I go to San Francisco in September!! I just can't believe some people thought it was too long and had some boring bits, I loved it from start to finish and never really thought it dragged. Heath Ledger was great but I think Aaron Eckhart as Two Face was almost as good and a bit over looked. The one thing I didn't really like was Christian Bale's strange tough guy voice as Batman, lol, but by the end I didn't notice it anymore anyway!

What are you reading right now?
I work in a book shop and got the Macauley Culkin book on a clearence sale for £1!! It's very very bizarre and weird but strangely entertaining! Especially by the usually dull standards of celebrity books!

Hello! (Music to check out for Coldplay fans)
As lots of other people have done it I'm just posting to tell people to check out my music too! If you like bands from say Coldplay, Snow Patrol to Oasis, The Beatles etc then you may like my sound. Some of you may have already heard some as I'm on the Coldplaying Charity Club CD and I'm on their Myspace page, but my own Myspace page is linked below and I'm on Itunes too, the songs on the Coldplaying CD (and Itunes) were recorded at a proper studio with a producer, as the last song on my Myspace is, but the rest are home demos so a lot rougher but newer and better songs I think! So anyway if you have a spare few minutes (most of the songs are quite short :) then click on the myspace link below and let me know what you think!
