I really like X&Y too. But I agree with what you said about there being something special about AROBTTH. I can still listen to it today and it feel like I'm listening to it for the first time. (even tho I'm onto my second copy cosI wore the other one out! lol) There are some great songs on X&Y. It's all part of the music making process. You need to try new things. We would complain if they just released the same old stuff album after album! I'm looking forward to the next one! :)
