  1. Well Ceuta is in North Africa. Julian changed sides and fought against the Visigoths. It was a war. He needed allies. Like what the Romans did with the Goths in 376AD http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Ceuta+ In 710, as Muslim armies approached the city, its Visigothic governor Julian (also described as "king of the Ghomara") changed sides and urged them to invade Spain (for personal reasons, according to the Arab chroniclers; the Visigothic King Roderick is said to have mistreated his daughter). Under the leadership of Berber general Tariq ibn Ziyad, Ceuta was used as a prime staging ground for an assault on Visigoth-ruled Iberia soon after. After Julian's death the Arabs took direct control of the city; this was resented by the surrounding indigenous Berber tribes, who destroyed it in a Kharijite rebellion led by Maysara al-Haqir in 740. It lay waste until refounded in the 9th century by Majakas, chief of the Majkasa Berber tribe, who started the short-lived dynasty of the Banu Isam. Under his great-grandson they paid allegiance to the Idrisids (briefly); the dynasty finally ended when he abdicated in favour of the Umayyad Caliph of Cordoba Abd ar-Rahman III an-Nasir in 931. Chaos ensued with the fall of the Umayyad caliphate in 1031, but eventually it was taken over by the Almoravids in 1084, and again used as a base from which to invade Spain. http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Julian,+count+of+Ceuta The next summer Julian provided the ships to carry Muslim troops across to Europe. Julian also briefed Tariq, their general. Then the latter left Julian behind among the merchants and crossed the Strait of Hercules with a force of some 1,700 men. He landed at Gibraltar on April 30, 711, and thus began the Islamic conquest of Iberia. Later, in the Battle of Guadalete on July 19, Roderic's army of around 25,000 men was defeated by Tariq's force of approxamately 7,000, largely due to a reversal of fortune when the wings commanded by Roderic's relatives Sisbert and Osbert deserted or switched sides—which legend would later attribute to a deliberate plan developed by Julian. Afterwards Julian was apparently granted the lands he was promised by the Muslims but, as the story goes, lived on friendless and full of guilt for having become a traitor to his country.

  15. Well this talk is all hypothetical. Using nukes is the worst case scenario. America doesnt have the manpower to fight Iran- its struggling for recruits for the army, its strecthed enough in Iraq as it is and it would end up a disaster. The world would be outraged. Your just being a scaremonger, getting people all worried... (didnt they say that about Churchill thou?)
