Anyone into the Brony Music Scene?
Sadly a ton of the music is some 15 year old kid who throws a bunch of patterns in fl studio and slaps on a pony image ion the youtube. That's hardly influecned by mlp, is a song, or is even good music. But yeah there's still a lot of good stuff out there amongst the filler, maybe even better stuff early on in that first year (Not A Clever Pony, PinkiePieSwear) then later. Oh I love SGAP. I even helped get the tribute album organized for him http://sgaptribute.blogspot.com/ I love house (with a feeling) but i agree the dubstep leaves me cold. Thoughfully written though is key.

Anyone into the Brony Music Scene?
Thanks. I've kind of been fascinated by genres for the longest time as I helped organize the RYM Box Set Project which was dedicated to a history of musical scenes and genres. The fact that I was wrapping up that project with my own year of making music with practically no audience (and no real technique at that time) and then discovering this creative and thriving new scene that was equal opportunity, with continual things to influence me, no genre restrictions, and some great initial artists really got me hooked. Plus it's really cool to jump into a music scene while it's still unfolding and developing. I really haven't looked back even though it's been a weird and fun road I've traveled on. I can see it's weird to outsiders but on the other hand it's amazing, positive, and interesting once you check it out. Plus there's just load of good music in there too depending on what you like.

Coldplay vs. The World of Music
Is Coldplay is playing the whole curse-ridden song? If not then no biggee. If he's doing a couple lines sans f-bombs then be glad he doesn't do the whole thing. Why get wound up about a hip-hop artist? regarding "ignorant" [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2y8Sx4B2Sk]"IGNORANT"[/ame]

Anyone into the Brony Music Scene?
Sorry that does sound rather awful. It's one thing to be a fan of it but it's another trying to go around and convert, be annoying, and most importantly not SHUT UP about it if someone isn't interested. Especially comparing apples to oranges. I mean I love brony music but i also love non-brony music too. To talk about it incessantly is annoying gives us a bad name. My apologies if you've dealt with THAT brony.. Famous it's not, but it does have a dedicated and massive online fanbase even though it's really not THAT massive. Touhou (Japan video game circle) and Wizard Rock (Harry Potter influenced bands) is the only thing I've seen that's similar and those are older. Bronies really started in early 2011. These 2 vids likely do the best at explaining the phenomenon [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olLDrvc1qt4]this[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE7I_IDX98g]and that[/ame] I also made this list with a brief history and with the best of Brony Music. Basically an intro and explanation of what it is, who it is, and what it's all about. http://rateyourmusic.com/list/TheScientist/rym_ultimate_box_set__brony_music

Anyone into the Brony Music Scene?
Loaded words, but sometimes we talk in code so that we get stabbed with pitchforks a little less. :) MLP is basically short for My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic which (surprisingly) has both a male and an older fanbase (besides the target one) because it's simply a good show and because people have done some very cool creative things with it as an influence (art, video, + music for example). The reaction to show in many ways is more fascinating then the show itself. Anyway I started a thread less to "recruit" and more to see how much our microverse is visibly seen by the general public or how many bronies may actually be Coldplay fans. Bronies love positivity a bit more then the norm so Coldplay at least seems like a good thing to have in common. EDM is just short for electronic dance music (house, trance, electro, drum & bass, yada, yada). It certainly isn't all that the brony community specializes in but a lot of it. It's just a big parent genre. Basically like saying something is Rock music which really describes VERY little about it but the most general description of how its made but not what its really like as a style. Yeah there's quite a bit of it that MEH or is just bland music with a pony image thrown on it. Course you gotta realize a lot of people making the music are first time musicians (some are not, the 15 year ) and the community encourages people becoming better ones and developing their skills plus 95% is free music. The production values in a lot of the upper pantheon is pretty impressive although some of the music is starting to sound maybe too slick. Yeah i think a lot of "us" start getting so used to the way our community works that when we step out from that iinto the public we're always a bit shocked that people don't know us or the scene and see it as "weird". Which I agree it is to a degree. Then again a lot of people like that its breaking for tradition and going in a very interesting direction as a subculture. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XK3-h1V7mY0]Case in point[/ame] Yeah I got into Coldplay in the AROBTTH era (after my wife was a PArachutes era fan). Then came my fansite to THEM, collecting bootleg concerts, yada, yada. Some good times. Haven't been here in ages.

Coldplay vs. The World of Music
I'm sorry but Jay-Z is a raper who curses rather constantly. Those bleeps that occur in the videos DON'T show up in concert, those are REAL curse words there. Kids shouldn't be at his shows, likely there is a minumum age to get into his and most concerts (people do drink at these events), and people going should know what to expect from hsi catalog. If they come to a Jay-Z show and aren't expecting any of that, well THAT's ignorant. Ahh the old "if a woman is sexual, empowered, and independent she's a slut and deserves no respect" attitude. I remember the same with Madonna and Britney. Honestly it's just as sexist to consider women as such because it's their right to choose how they want to express themselves. Sure they might be respected more if they didn't do that but it's their decision and it sells. Music can be controversial and outrageous and to say it's ignorant for being that way is just the wrong use of the word. More importantly a waste of time. If you'd rather listen to "better" or more "wholesome" music do so. Hating on musicians who you don't like is just silly. Find a better crusade. If anything they feed off the bad press and outrage. Parents are not supposed to like or approve of it. That's part of the reason of why they are popular!

Coldplay vs. The World of Music
A lot of this is a generational shift TBH. When people get older a batch of musicians come around and often younger groups of people fall in love with music that's a little different then what came before it. Madonna leads to Gaga leads to Niki Minaj Skream leads to Skrillex Bjork leads to Postal Service leads to Owl City Sasha leads to Deadmau5 Joy Division leads to Interpol None of these are really big shifts in style but if anything they represent how having a different generation of music fans, different musical styles becoming popular again often lead to criticism by those who were used to what came before. Instead of "music is getting worse" it really translates to "music is changing and i don't like it". Change is constant. Young people fall in love with music that's new and different then what before and rarely from long-standing established artists. Do i like the current Americanized version of dubstep w/ wobbles, screams, and drops? No, but then again it's not made for me or my generation so why should we not feel its "just noise" until when we learn that maybe we can adjust and tolerate it. ;)

when someone asks you what kind of music you like, what do you answer?
Almost anything and everything and more recently music made about ponies. (Ok I often keep that last part to myself)

Anyone into the Brony Music Scene?
I know it's a limited audience but an enthusiastic one. Fans of MLP.... I've been making music with them since i discovered them (mainly EDM). http://www.youtube.com/user/thefreewave It's a youthful and optimistic community for the most part and that's what i love about them. Well actually the fact that they've made a whole music scene that's full of actually many good musicians with home-made and often free tracks. There's likely close to a thousand musicians making various style and adaptions from the show with a good chunk of them are actually good. http://bronymusic.com [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzpDguYAroU]just[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl3l67XY2Wc]a few[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUt6ApWfZP8]tracks[/ame] Have you checked it out? Do you like it? Or is this completely off the musical map for you guys? Haven't visited Cping in quite awhile so thought I'd see if there's a crossover fanbase at all.

Your Music-List of all Coldplaying members w/ music (post links to your music)
nice to see a thread exists for home musicians I've been making music for almost a year now as thescientist, mostly concept albums and ep's, some collaborations/remixes, some unusual mixtapes, but generally trying to stay prolific, eccentric, and quite diverse in style. Hopefully succeeding in all those categories :) Heres a List of My Own Music and Videos (most recent to oldest) Would love anyone to check out what's there. I have some friends on rym and atease's loophole who i recommend (also free music/home musicans) on my blog dedicated to the subject. http://starsoftheloophole.blogspot.com/ Can add others who I think are a notch above par. :) Again glad to see people putting music together on this site, i think i checked several months ago and couldn't find anything.

Music Blogs
well i run the blog http://starsoftheloophole.blogspot.com/ which is for non label musician friends i know and recommend (mostly off of RYM and atease's loophole). its single and album based so it won't be a lot of help if all you have is demos and single tracks. I'll take a listen to your work and see if i like it. but first you gotta link it (I'll be honest I don't generally review stuff that hasn't even made it to rym yet ( that's http://rateyourmusic.com/ in case you don't know). I'm thescientist there which is also my artist name too. http://rateyourmusic.com/~TheScientist So is their no sec tion on coldplaying for MAKING music? I haven't been on here in awhile and I can't say I've ever seen a section let alone a thread on the topic. Perhaps a stickied thread would make a world of good. Perhaps a thread like this with a more appropriate title.

** 2010 Top 75 Coldplay Song List - The Results**
Well Coldplay has their setlists too programmed in frankly. Pearl Jam and Radiohead setlists change from show to show which is why they have a better following with the tapers frankly. Coldplay keeps the same setlist for a whole tour leg which is part of the reason i stopped looking for every show. It makes it easier to perform when you press play for the backing music and do the same show every night but its still a show that's sadly on autopilot.

Don't take it personally. I see flaws in this list too. (See Amsterdam and Clocks for example are even lower. Shiver is too high. etc) Results posted in first post.

** 2010 Top 75 Coldplay Song List - The Results**
Understandable but I had to draw the line somewhere. I was going to make it 1000 but then realized I wouldn't be included myself. It's 58 people who made the cut. Again feel free to point to which list you feel better represent the band. Who's included and what those results will be will go here. http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3949054

The Top 50 Coldplay Songs - An Alternative Top Coldplay List
While we received 208 lists from the Top Coldplay songs polling there has been a lot of justifiable groaning about the results. http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67476 We had TONS of people join just to put their lists and the results do reflect the opinions of the masses. As I got to the Top 10 results I went through all the lists (17 pages!!) twice, took out the lists of anyone under 500 posts, and have worked on re-calculating new results from the 58 lists remaining. All these people remaining have over 500+ posts on coldplaying and are quite familiar with the band and its catalog. I'm hoping this alternative list will show a side that people new to the band really should get aquainted with. This way long standing members can point to an alternate list if they find the original one "flawed" (although it does represent the public perception of the band). Here's the 58 members; I checked it twice so it should be accurate.
