  1. Fake Plastic Trees, cool, One of my fave RH songs; describes me pretty well- it said I despise the fake, commercialism, etc.. but i don't know what to do about it and that i should be a part of something real
  2. What no Devo, the Replacements, Husker Du, X, Dead Kennedys? :) I liked 80's REM too.
  3. I love LA - Randy Newman
  4. DrPolitik replied to Sally_'s topic in The Lounge
wow a lot of people with great taste in books here :) some of my favorites: My Dark Places - James Ellroy On the Road - Jack Kerouac Me Talk Pretty One Day - David Sedaris Nausea - Sartre Leaves of Grass - Walt Whitman
  5. i was just about to start a Granddaddy thread...i've got the new album and well i dont have any previous albums by them but have seen 'em play live twice and thought the some of the new stuff held it's own, like lost on yer merry way, el caminos in the west and ok with my decay
  6. word, i'm up for some revisionist Eminem
  7. Ah Godspeed! Montreal's finest, of course! They're great!!
  8. the Lips are awesome! They can be one of the best feel good bands around, it all depends on how you look at it..a lot of their lyrics are on the downer/realist side, but with Wayne Coyne's infectious sugary voice and the generally zany upbeat rhythms, meloncholia never sounded so good! hearing She Don't Use Jelly should put anyone in a good mood :P
  9. Good Choice :) Love will tear us apart - Joy Division, that'd make a nice piano ballad
  10. i'll have to get it then. Your right about the songs out of place thing..i'm finding that with Hail to the Thief, individually the songs can stand on their own, but as a whole beginning to end it's amazing.
  11. of course your not crazy! haha..we all succumb to vacuous mind numbing soul sucking empty pop now and then! That's how we develop taste
  12. 20 piece and over bands, the next big craze folks, you heard it here first
  13. ya think? :P  you are persistent though i'll give ya that....
  14. well nothing's wrong with TOTP really, I just don't watch it that much. nope still refusing the fast food song mmmwwahahahaha Never!!!! :P
  15. nooooooooooo!!! Muussst resist...............strength weakening........musical taste dumbing..................................actually i've only heard it the once, on the last TOTP (not that i watch that at all, mind you) and didn't listen long enough to know the words!!! WOOO HOOO!!!!!!!!
  16. fortunatly no, not yet..but give it another day or two
  17. someone told me they write their own songs and *gasp* play instruments  ...i'm staying well away ;) what times top of the pops on? :P
  18. oooh i got a contender for one-hit-wonder of the future, this pathetic group with this fast food song right now!? What the hell???? They'll be back at their 9 to 5's this time next month
  19. The Deerhunter - Man, when they sing God Bless America at the end :( Bambi - when i was a kid..c'mon thats gotta be the most heartbreaking one ever! L'Miserables (1995 french version) cant quite remember why but the tears were 'a flowin  Once Upon A Time in America - just watching the characters age and their relationships with each other deteriorate..it's beautifully sad because that's humans for ya Little Odessa - One of the bleakest saddest films i've ever seen..tim roth has to put his brothers body in a furnace at the end because he accidently shoots him in a gang battle, and their mother dies in it too :(
  20. you should definitely watch Platoon if you like Vietnam films, well it's a good film anyways even if you're not into war films..Blazing Saddles i found to be not quite as funny as everyone else seems to make out, it's ok i guess..10? eh, nah, watch Platoon out of those 3.
  21. yeah! :) but i guess i'm easily amused by the word bozo!! I just think it's such a funny word  ..i'm a simple man..

  24. Upon the fresh mowed lawn I gaze upon, your clothes are strewn, scattered lillies on a pond. Life is frivolous for us, like shed feathers on the wind or a sand castle dirtied by a creeping tide. The days decay, old mortar crumbles, a clay ocean rumbles. Those clothes are ragged now, your favorite blouse is stained by my favorite wine.
