  14. i REALLY hope that they decide not to break up - for 2 reasons: 1) they are an IMMENSELY talanted band and it would be a terrible waste - having followed Radiohead for over 8 years i've closely tracked a band who dealt with the same insecurities that are inevitable with a band that become that big so quickly, and as Coldplay have got there even quicker i can imagine that at times they are terrified - i hope they recognise that creating a better album every time is not only unrealistic but its impossible - theyre will ALWAYS be critics, there will always be people who see a new release as mediocre or poor - some will love familiarity in new songs to old ones, others will yearn for musical development - the most important thing is that they hold onto theyre identity, theyre spirit and theyre love and belief in the making of music that effects so many people in such a wonderful way - theyre music really MEANS things to people - and thats rare and precious :D 2) i will be very very upset - but i guess thats just selfish
  15. i spent £150 on a professional recording mike for just that reason ginger so youll hear some of hicksy's poor attempts at popular band material if Ian might be so kind as to help me out with a bit of hosting which I could link in this forum (if thats ok with him - ill get in touch when I have some material if thats ok Ian) while we are on this topic if any of you sing / play guitar / record your own material or covers please let me know and we may be able to merge our work and produce a collaboration / duet which would be fantastic!! :D I am hoping that my first recording will be "Billy Davies' Daughter" - a cover of Stereophonics - as the guitar part is very simple - like my playing atm and the lead singing i can match :P
  16. he he - sorry ive only just had time to check through the recent posts cause of housework and stuff like that - 24yrs old and got my own house - just dont do it!! wait till your 30!! anyhow.... here goes... Pearl Jam - cant help but devide this down a bit since they have produced a lot of material but overall... 7/10 (early stuff 8/10, more recent stuff 6/10, middle albums - i.e. pre-binural 7/10), having said that there are some Pearl Jam songs that are "epic" in that they will be around forever! :D Turin Brakes - VERY promising band - I was shocked at how much the lead singer and they're general style sound like another band i like called (racks brain...) ARGH cant remember - come back ill edit it in when i do remember - anyway  I've remembered - its "Subcircus" - for theyre first album id give it 7/10 - with the first three tracks pushing out a 8/10 and the album tapering off a bit as it progresses Doves - I havent had a great deal of experience with these guys but on the strength of their common songs again 7/10 although the single with the tribal drums i like - if u know them u got to know which one i mean! - reminds me very much of Radiohead's "There There" from they're new tour material Moby - unfortunately not really my scene so i would mark him a harsh 6/10 although i recognise that is not popular opinion and i have to admit some of his material i like but i've never bought into his very commercial style - although some would say thats the whole point of him so im not really sure where i stand with him  hope that's a reasonable response - never had such a direct post before :D
