I've never left Australia. Never been on a plane. The only time I've even left the state was when I was two years old and my family and I went to Queensland (by car). All I remember is one small moment inside the Big Pineapple. But I'd love to travel one day. Do you eat the recommended two fruits and five vegetables a day?

Thankyou! :D and I hope that you get to become closer to your cousins! I went into the city today all by myself. I'm quite proud of myself for becoming more independant. I don't need someone with me to go places anymore. I still lean on people when I need to though, because it's nice to have people that are there for you, and I don't want to act like I don't need those people because I truly do. I bought my friend a birthday present while I was there. She's so hard to buy for because her sisters buy her a lot of things. I spent more than I wanted to so she'd better like it or I won't be at all happy. I should have gone to somewhere cheaper but I had it in my head that I wanted to get her something from the Oxfam shop (I just wanted to go there because I hadn't been before and I was using my friend's present as an excuse) and it just turned out more expensive than I expected. If she was a closer friend and I wasn't so worried about my cash flow than I wouldn't mind so much. Oh well... it's her 18th and I've known her since we were 5 so I may as well spend a bit more than usual on her.

I wore my Coldplay messenger bag today when I went to the city. I went to the Oxfam shop to buy my friend a birthday present and I was hoping to find something to do with Coldplay in there but I didn't. My friend had better like the present because it wasn't exactly cheap.

All I can think of is that sometimes it influences the thoughts of some people, but that the whole idea of contemporary songs as a breeding ground for negativity is a social discourse, because really it's the individual's decision about if they want to be sexist, violent etc. Also, it can depend a lot on the person's social position. If a person already lives in the poorer areas of a country than lyrics about hardships and dealing with hardships in a negative way are likely to influence that individual more. Anyway, I'm not making sense and you've probably made points similar to what I tried saying. I hope you did really well on the essay!
