The Official *Pringles* Thread
* The Weekly Pringle * Issue 1 - Friday, 25 April 2008 BREAKING NEWS Semy Goes Without Pringles For 33 Days After living on nothing but Pringles in the second week of March 2008, a time when Easter loomed and a cut in food stocks was imminent in conjunction to Easter weekend, it is hard to believe that something so deliciously addictive would then be avoided for a whole 4 weeks - or to be precise, 33 and a half days. The last tube was popped, and contents subsequently devoured, on Monday 24th March. Reports suggest that this crisis has lead to the victim resorting to eating Doritos, Walkers Crisps and Stax, all in the Prawn Cocktail variety. He is also said to be becoming more and more attached to forums such as Coldplaying.com, and his OCD (Obsessive Coldplay Disorder) is rumoured to have worsened. Cascada is now, tragically, his favourite pop group, closely followed by Avril Lavigne and the Backstreet Boys. Withdrawal symptoms and insomnia have also taken their toll unexpectedly, though the unfortunate individual has yet to clarify the frankly ridiculous rumours that his average bed time is now 5am. Freak. According to a specialist in the field, the levels of Pringolumite in his bloodstream are now dangerously low. "Pringolumite is an essential substance our body needs to keep us sane", he informs. "It is found exclusively in Pringles, which is unfortunately the reason why we are seeing such profound and disgraceful changes in his behaviour. The recommended daily allowance is about 50 units, about 2 tubes a day, to maintain a healthy diet." He adds, "If he continues to neglect Pringles for much longer, intentionally or unintentionally, I'm afraid we are going to see a very serious case of Condition Zero." When pressed to give a description of what Condition Zero might involve, he maintained that the symptoms would be far to gruesome and frightening to describe. "All I'll say is that you wouldn't want him near any pets," he grimaced. We hope to keep you up to date with this story as it happens.

Mountain Dew
Red Bull FTW! Although it will probably kill me one day. The scary thing is, that caffine doesn't seem to affect me whatsoever. I get none of the shakiness or wackiness that other people seem to get. Strange.

Somebody PM or e-mail me when the Lounge is worth returning to
I agree, I've retreated back to the Coldplay section recently. And I'm scared of bumping the Pringles Thread, i case it gets spammed :dozey:

CHRIS MARTIN TO WORK WITH CASCADA + NEW SONG REVIEWS
I can understand the collaborations with Kanye and Jay Z and the like (just) but Cascada? I've never heard of them until now but that Youtube video doesn't look promising. Why on EARTH would Chris collaborate with them, of ALL people? And whoever said that Will needs to knock some sense into him, is right. I'm not going to fully believe it yet, though. But its good that she gave such positive reviews on the album :nice: I like the sound of Yes being brooding, it shows that there is in fact some darker material on the album. Not too sure about the 'Gospel like' atmosphere of Reign of Love, though. We'll see. But yes, I seem to recall hearing Jo Whiley announce the full album title about a month or so ago, and she was sniggering while she was saying it. Its not the first time she's stirred up the Coldplay fanbase.

Guy, Will and Jonny included in "Rich List"
Well its not all that surprising, seeing as they've had two massive worldwide tours, and three albums each with an average of 10 million sales. Still though, I don't really have a problem with it, since they make great music, so in my mind they deserve their wealth. And besides, hopefully it means that they'll carry on for many years to come.

Violet Hill next monday?
Double post, sorry about that.

Violet Hill next monday?
Haha, thats was crazy wasn't it? In the 20 minutes of listening to it, they mentioned Coldplay. But for me, I had already heard someone from the radio a few weeks back announcing the title (Jo Whiley, I think) so this is I think the second time I've heard them mention it. But the fact that they mentioned actually playing Violet Hill next week was definitely a spine tingling moment!

New Coldplay Single To Get World Premiere On BBC6 Music, 29th April (Before Noon)
That would be the best news EVER. I hadn't even really considered LP5 before you mentioned it, haha. But an alternative album to Viva La Vida containing ALL the unused songs from this era would absolutely be the best thing ever. "Death & All His B-Sides" for a worldwide autumn release, anyone? Tracklisting: 01. The Goldrush 02. Famous Old Painters 03. Chinese Sleep Chant 04. Lukas 05. Prospekt's March / LRLRL 06. Poppy Fields 07. Glass Of Water 08. Rainy Day 09. Postcards From Far Away 10. Bucket For A Crown + Deserter + Ladder To The Sun :P

WOW. This is fantastic news. And I can't wait to hear "A Spell A Rebel Yell" - that sounds really interesting! And I am really loving that artwork! It has a classic look about it, and one that may be remembered for years to come. Very distinctive.

Radio Premiere in Germany - 29th April
Here's the whole translation, if anyone's interested: Coldplay return with a new album For a long time we have heard nothing from Coldplay - the last album, "X & Y", was released in 2005. But now there is something new to the ears. 1LIVE has this exclusive: the brand-new single from Chris Martin and Co. appears next Tuesday, also at 29.4. Radio premiere. The song is "Violet Hill", and of course you will hear it first at 1LIVE. The new fourth album from Coldplay, "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends" hits shelves on 13 June, with ten brand new songs. A complete tracklist of the new Coldplay album has already published on their homepage. The Brian Eno produced album often has two songs merged together, so that you really get a dozen new songs (instead of 10). http://www.einslive.de/nachrichten/pop/index.jsp  I assume when he's talking about the merged songs, he's referring to 'Lovers In Japan / Reign Of Love' and 'Death And All His Friends' / 'The Escapist'.

It's a pub scrawl for Chris
^Hahaha! It must have been funny reading over all the speculation from all those months ago, knowing what you know now. I can't remember saying much on the matter, but that could just be my poor memory. But you must be proud that you guessed the album title before any of us! :P I'll go back and read it for myself now, to see if I had anything to say about it.
-
Do coldplays songs sound the same?
I remember reading that too, but what I'm saying is that it hasn't been mentioned since then by any other sources. I seem to remember in an interview with Guy last year, he was asked if Timbaland was collaborating, and he only mentioned working with Eno in his answer. But, I guess we'll only know for sure once the albums out. If he is involved, then I hope it is a minimal amount of involvement. But I still think its merely a rumour, nothing more.
-
Do coldplays songs sound the same?
Neither the band nor anyone else ever confirmed that timbaland would be collaborating. I can't think of why they would want to work with him anyway, especially when they have Eno on board. And if you read any recent reports, it only mentions Eno and Markus Dravs as producers. I think some of their songs sound similar, but the closest they get to self plagerism is with Speed Of Sound and Clocks. But even then, they are totally different in terms of mood and lyrics. Songs like White Shadows, Low and Square one all sound quite similar, but I think thats just the production, the the use of similar synths and guitar in them. The songs themselves? Completely different. I'm hoping VLV will break the mould a bit, and I think it will, but it really is inevitable that bands begin to repeat themsleves a bit later on in their carrer. Unless you're Radiohead of course, and manage to bang out 7 albums each with their own sound a feel (bar maybe Kid A & Amnesiac).

Coldplay Syndrome
Haha, fair enough. And I had no idea bono was in that movie! I think I need to watch it someday, seeing as ive heard mostly good things about it. I think its so cool that Chris and the guys decided to leak the title through that video :D It almost makes you want to forget how painful it was waiting for prospekts entries. I hope they talk about that video in interviews, it'll be interesting to hear what they have to say about it.

Coldplay Syndrome
Even Doctor Robert? :P I would hate it if they don't release those songs as B sides, because for me, they've never released an awful track. In fact, i love some of their B sides more than some album tracks, especially those from the AROBTTH era. Almost every non-album is strong. I just can't help but think we would be missing out on some wonderful music if they decide not to release some of them.

Coldplay Syndrome
What with all the information released over the past 2 months, it's not surprising that ONE piece of information (in this case a song title) was overlooked. It certainly doesn't make a moron either - when i first read the same article, I misread the title "Now my feet wont touch the ground" as "No more keeping my feet on the ground" and I thought they just made a mistake. It took me quite a while to figure out that it was actually a different song title :P So there you go. And yes, Postcards From Far Away ROCKS as a title.
