From what I gather, Chris was in LA these days and the rest of the boys in NYC. So, what are they not working on finishing the album? Is it done already? Or there is no rush at all?

Unless there is a miracle, I guess we will not see AHFOD at next year's Grammys. The eligibility period for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards is October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015.

Before the hype gets on again, I think it is safe to say that they will (very probably) not play a new song on Global Citizen.
