  9. Roadie #42 - Blog #7 June 25, 2008 2:50 pm R#42's thoughts on the MSG show Well there we go. It's done. Madison Square Garden is, in many ways, just an arena. The way it's talked about in touring circles though, you'd believe it was only one small step down from doing a show on another planet. The weight of expectation and history is simply huge. Even amongst us, this concert has been talked about in hushed, concerned tones since rumours of this free show were first heard. Monday's gig was not perfect. In fact, there were gremlins tap-dancing merrily at regular intervals. In many ways though, that's exactly the point. The early days of this band are remembered by many for Chris's habit of constantly apologising throughout gigs. Here they are taking on one of the most prestigious venues in the entire world, cheerfully announcing that there will be mistakes and that things aren't nearly ready yet. Maybe this marks the point at which the fear, the apologising and the bumbling lack of confidence are behind them. Squaring up to such an imposing and 'grown up' venue and approaching it like a club warm-up show demonstrates a level of nerve I don't believe I've seen before. "We've got some incredible balls" quoth CM. Indeed they do. R#42

  14. Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard has claimed that Coldplay are the "best band in the world". The singer said that negative reviews of the band's Viva La Vida album were based on jealousy. "Coldplay are the best band in the world and the single 'Violet Hill' is pure genius, simple as that," he told the Daily Star "I can't believe that they're getting a hard time. It's weird. How can people undermine them? To me Coldplay are other-worldly." "People diss it because it's popular. Well, whatever. Say that when it sells millions of albums. Coldplay aren’t a short-term thing. "People still listen to their old albums. How many of the so-called cool bands can you say that about?" Pritchard compared Chris Martin's band to Space Oddity-era David Bowie. He added: "I’ve often wondered what it would have been like to see David Bowie in his Space Oddity days and even though it's not as shocking, Coldplay have got a similar thing going on." http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a103140/kooks-coldplay-are-best-in-the-world.html Full Interview is - http://www.dailystar.co.uk/playlist/view/41588/World-champs/

  18. i think with the other three albums will kept in his comfort zone...and really didnt move away from that...in some places he did, but not too many times...but with this album he has...and i think that it sounds better...and he's kinda incorperating it to some of the older songs as well
  19. Coldplay deny plagiarism claims Coldplay have denied lifting the melody for new track 'Viva La Vida' from a US indie band. Brooklyn-based Creaky Boards recently posted a video on YouTube comparing Coldplay's album title track with their own 'The Songs I Didn't Write'. The group claimed that Martin watched them perform at the CMJ festival in October last year: "We were flattered when we thought we saw Chris Martin in the crowd that night. He seemed pretty into it. Maybe too into it." A spokesman for Coldplay told NME that the similarity was just a coincidence. The band's representative said that the track 'Viva La Vida' was written and recorded as a demo in March 2007, seven months before Creaky Boards's CMJ show. Martin's diary also revealed that the singer couldn't have attended a Creaky Boards gig in October 2007 because he was at London's AIR Studios. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a101128/coldplay-deny-plagiarism-claims.html
