  1. somebody at coldplaying added more videos from concert. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT9ktFAHVuQ
  2. Melanieau. Do you mean how they got the left-right order wrong? Getting guy and will mixed up?
  3. Well there is no Bros&Sis's "single" like the don't panic or clocks single that feature other songs on it. I think making it a single just made it available for radio play. The Brothers and Sisters E.P. features the b-sides easy to please and only superstition. Bigger stronger was also a single in the same sense that Brothers and sisters was.
  4. I think the 45 stands for the channel number. It would be hilariousiof the title of the album was something like 45 though. Never would've seen that coming.
  5. both have slightly distorted guitar timbres. big whoop.
  6. what do you want to know? it's kind of a broad stroked question.

don't panic what if vs. the scientist

amsterdam for you vs. fix you.
  9. yeah I also have to say that that slide solo was absolutely killer.
  10. for the outro you hold the 13th fret on the g string and the 14th fret on the b string. from there you slide to both 5th frets, slide to both 12th frets and then go back. repeat. You also play the open e-string but you'll have to figure out the picking for yourself, or you can just strum all three. As for effects, one of the techies can help you there. obviously there's some reverb and distortion going on.
  11. I agree especially in square one, white shadows and talk. low is a lot better though because he plays guitar at the same time. and the vocals at glastonbury 2005 were actually pretty tight.
  12. help is just around the corner "stormy haze"
  13. Well the roots of rockn'roll are debatable. I say it, of course, started with elvis but the heavy push came from the beatles alone. As far as their predecessors one could make a case for the rolling stones and such but based on the writer's outlook and/or definition of "rock'n roll" u2 is the most successful and fitting predecessor. As for coldplay, it does seem like a stretch, but u2 reaching their twilight, it's about time that the flag gets handed off and I can't come up with any other candidate but coldplay to carry it. As he said, coldplay has produced astounding music in a very short time. Surely boy and october didn't shoot off to such enormous success and record sales as did parachutes and AROBTTH. and with X&Y breaking charts and with coldplay winning grammy's and brits regularly for every new album or single they release, they surely have potential to one day join the ranks of u2. Furthermore, Coldplay is made of smart, charitable people and artistically sound artists. the maketradefair campaign signifies that they do give a damn about the world and, while martin isn't yet of "bono" stature, they intend on trying to change the world through music. a key element of rockn'roll. Some argue that coldplay is too soft musically, but coldplay fans know, by dint of the AROBTTH tour and tracks like politik, GPASUYF, one I love etc. they can and do ROCK OUT(for more see jonny's jazz). Last but not least they lack no creativity or drive to keep going as long as u2. They are not stuck in a rut and know how to evolve effectively from album to album with new influences being drawn from resulting in fresher tunes. We've heard from every prospekt entry to the constant stream of inspiration to martin's head, with multiple songs being written each day. Simply put, not many bands have what coldpay has, very rarely do you get a lot of talented, driven individuals who A. care about the world and B. strives to become the greatest band in the world while possessing the minds and the potential to do it. It's tingling to think about it as it's easy to feel that the next album will never be as good as the last. After spending years listening and awing over their last couple albums it feels as if this band cannot possibly improve on that, that the best is over and the next will be a let down. But llooking back, as great as parachutes, AROBTTH, and X&Y were, there were always dissatisfactions. X&Y was wrapped up in a few panicked months, imagine how much better it couldn've been had they had more time. And now we here that the band has never been comfortable, that chris has never been more prolific, that jonny's guitar has never been better and that this will be an album by a band that's pushed the bar, reached a new height and is exceeding everything they've ever done before. as prospekt said "This is the album I've always wanted them to make" So lets stop doubting, hold our breath for another month and maybe by then we won't be listening to the "enh, okay." album we've dreaded in our minds, but instead the transcendant "better than anything I've ever heard before" album that will engrave their name deeper into rockn'roll history and push them one step closer to becoming the next u2. The band seems awfully optimistic about it. shouldn't we be? I'm 17 right now, one day I might look back on "42" in the top 100 list of rolling stones "greatest albums of all time". who knows. I don't.
  14. Numerous things could be interpreted for the covers, I'm not entirely sure what moshepop is leading towards. The best I can find is a common thread of conflict War and Peace in u2's case, X&Y or the conflict of enormous optimism and pessimism in coldplay's case for the beatles...well, many faces, different emotions happy and sad surrounding the artistically placed "backwards" head in the center. could also fit the category of conflicting ideas and/or emotions.
  15. Oh, awesome. I remember seeing don't panic and yellow on you-tube, and wondering where everything else was. thank you.

clocks high speed or the hardest part?
  17. Hmm, I don't really find it funny, like, at all. I'm not insulted by the Chris Martin thing although I don't really get how that contributes to the humor. Is anyone else laughing? because i think it looks really stupid in a "trying too hard" kind of way.
  18. I wish I had pics but I don't. My instruments: ibanez steel string acoustic guitar yamaha ypg-625 digital piano. I gave my brother my squier strat for christmas because I could only bring one guitar to college and I'm hoping to get a standard fender tele by summer. I always go straight to coldplay everytime I pick up(or sit down at) an instrument. I do collect riffs and chords for radiohead, u2 and miscellaneous songs also. I started on the keyboard because I wanted to learn a few coldplay riffs and after about a year of schooling myself I can play amsterdam, a ghost, etc. the first riff I always go to is trouble, it just never gets old. Lately I've been working on classical stuff and have learned about the first couple pages of moonlight sonata 1st. movement and I'm also working on fur elise. On the guitar the very last song I learned was careful where you stand.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW-eGdHckm8 Here's you only live twice. does anybody have other videos from this concert?
  20. not to mention live performances of brothers and sisters, help is just around the corner, no more keeping my feet on the ground, we never change...surely there's a video somewhere of we never change.
  21. Is it better live? Don't Panic: AROBTTH tour, yes. all else, no. Shiver: Close but no, I prefer the album version with the nicely layered guitars. Spies: Yes, especially around 2003 with the intro and piano outro. brilliant. Sparks: No, actually a little weak at times, album version is too perfect. Yellow: close call. not a huge fan of the 2003 version, balloons saved it during the X&Y tour. I'll call it a tie. Trouble: 2000-2003 was as brilliant live as in the album, I hated what they did with it in X&Y. tie for the early years, no for the X&Y tour. High Speed: probably a tie as well, although did make some nice changes to the live version. Everything's not lost: Yes. especially come 2003 and onwards there's some very nice additions, it's more of a singalong anyway. Politik: definitely yes, pretty self explanatory actually. IMP: The chorus is meant for a crowd, Chris almost sounds silly singing "yeah!" all by himself in the album version. I say yes. GPASUYF:Yes.The last night on earth-esque rockout does it for me. The Scientist:Probably yes, although their isn't a huge difference frankly. Clocks: Yes, especially with the extended outro. but I still listen to both now and then. Daylight: the energy, group vocals, lights imitating a sun...yes, yes, yes. Green eyes: Varies, I think the album version wins most times around. Warning Sign: Yes. Jonny's electric part is so much more prominent at glastonbury 05 than it was in the album, it makes the song. AROBTTH:Yes.(See Spies) Amsterdam:Probably a tie, not a huge difference. Square one:Probably yes, Chris could match the album vocals if he didn't run around so much (jools holland), but it has redeeming value. What if: No, pretty weak and out of place much of the time no matter how hard Jonny rocks out at the end. White shadows: Tie. most of you will prefer the live version which dos have a great guitar outro but I dislike the falsetto chorus. your call. Fix you: Probably yes, even without the acoustic guitar and piano the crowd makes up for it. Talk: tie. I dunno ;) X&Y: I actually think it might be better live, a darkhorse song jonny's intro and some of chris's piano additions make this song a gem live. SOS: no, it struggles at time and jonny's guitar isn't as effective. A message: no, I miss the piano and cleanliness of the album not an easy transition to the live show. Low: close but yes. solid live kind of the X&Y equivalent of one I love. Swallowed in the sea: yes, the piano makes it. especially at the end. Til Kingdom come: yeah, great guitar tone of jonny, very heartwarming, not that the album version wasn't.
  22. things I don't understand "long time"
  23. Not even GPASUYF, me thinks. I mean, the verses are almost entirely acoustic guitar which wouldn't work in a game like this. Jonny's part is absent for the first 46 seconds, and after that short little riff there's nothing until the chorus...
  24. problem with coldplay songs in guitar hero, is yhat guitar hero wants songs with very prominent electric guitar throughout...I've thought about it and I can't think of anything that would work for non-coldplay fans.
