  1. Okay, I thought it might be fun to see who can guess the exact order of songs in coldplay's next album. I know there's a chance that some of the songs we know about now might be dropped and newer songs might replace them. But which song do you think will be the first and last tracks?
  2. No more keeping my feet on the ground. "the spotlight"

I didn't know there were mulitple versions until I watched a you-tube vid of someone replacing the audio of the bigger stronger music video with the LP version of spies. I much prefer the parachutes version...It has more atmosphere and the vocals are fare more refined. I think the tension caused by the acoustic guitar leading up to the riff is far better also. but I'm an even bigger fan though of the live version featuring the haunting intro and the piano outro. It and a rush of blood to the head were so alike in that respect they just kept on switching back and forth between them over the course of the AROBTTH tour.
  4. It's a lot of hassle trying to get it setup and all. but the chorus chords for I ran away are. E F#11 Dadd9/11 Aadd9 e 0 0 0 0 b 0 0 0 0 g 13 15 11 6 d 14 16 12 7 a 14 16 12 7 E 12 14 10 5 pretty easy to figure out based on those. I'm not much of a tabber as you can see.
  5. Haha, this is a fun question to answer.:D Well, Christmas where I live is usually a fusion of santa claus and baby Jesus. It's not uncommon to see reindeer and wisemen on the same tree. My mom is German so unlike most families, we do what is supposed to be the german tradition of unwrapping all the presents on the night of christmas eve. (most families have kids wake-up early on the morning of christmas day and unwrap presents then). I'm not that familiar with most european christmas traditions (other than it's supposedly illegal to eat meatpies in london on christmas). But in the states christmas is basically a time for giving presents and enjoying the holidays as a family (holiday ham, singing christmas carols, etc.) I'm sure that while the details may change, the basic idea stays the same around the globe. Oh yeah, I live in Tennessee and we only ever get snow one or two days a year (if even that, sometimes). Merry Christmas!
  6. I know what you mean. At the end Jonny uses his loop pedal along with chorus and reverb. I think the outro is actually tabbed out in the b-sides book. But I'm not sure of anyway to get the exact same effect.
  7. heh. one of the few links I can open and access successfully. but it's kind of pointless since I already have the book. heh.
  8. I remember looking at the live 2003 book in a store once and I was dissapointed to see that the tabs and sheet for songs like trouble, politik and everything's not lost were the exact same as the album versions.
  9. Yeah. maybe in a pdf format or something that won't expire right away.

don't panic brothers & sisters(trouble version) or only superstition?
  11. I thinks it's one of Chris's deeper-thought songs. I have a habit of looking too far into things, but I find it be an agnostic song about the uncertainty of going to heaven or hell ("where do we go? nobody knows. I gotta say I'm on my way down") and/or the ambiguity of "...where to draw the line". That's my best guess based on the lyrics, anyway.
  12. Merry Christmas indeed. question: Is the term "happy christmas" a very common british phrase? I heard it first in the Harry Potter movies and then it headlines this thread. In the states we only ever say merry christmas (and a happy new year).
  13. Pour me "I wanna..." lol. name two songs with that. there might be more but i didn't look that far.
  14. LOL. interesting in warning sign it's "I've got to tell you what a state I'm in" and in Help is just around the corner it's "oh come on! come on! oh what a state I'm in!" anyway...the next is "one I love" "...making me cry"
  15. ROTFL. I believe that's "The hardest part"... "Climb up your mountain..."
  16. lol. yeah, I knew "we never change" was often on the setlist for the parachutes tour but, just like swallowed in the sea concert footage on you-tube always seems to have everything but...
  17. Kind of funny that there's a ton of new songs coming out of Chris's head faster than they can finish the recording the current ones. Good news is we can expect...LOTS OF B-SIDES!;)
  18. Ay Ay Ay. so much ado ansd confusion over a three chord song. Just go onto you-tube. Type in "how to play clocks" and a million different videos will pop up showing you how play it.
  19. LOL. When I first saw the brass band comment I also thought of radiohead. Well...if anything, this heightens anticipation to an excruciating level. Thanks to prospect I can sort of feel the anxiety of the Chris, Jonny, Guy and Will are going through with the inspiration/creativity meter on overload, and struggling to make each song live to it's full potential as fast as they can with a deadline breathing down their neck. and if that isn't tough enough... Chris seems to be creatively exploding from the inside. So with this being december and the album to be released early next year they have to give their undivided attention to each and every track but also some how sort through this huge load of new songs, one of which, if given their best effort, could easily become their most famous song since yellow.
  20. Ah yes. In rainbows. I must say it's my favorite since OK computer and my third favorite radiohead album of all time. The album, I think, has a very consistent, connected almost jazzy feel throughout. The highpoint for me is the three song stretch of nude-weird fishes/arpeggi-all I need. (weird fishes probably being my fav)
  21. Actually I disagree that they will always have those songs in the setlist. In parts of the X&Y tour and glastonbury '05 they would sometimes replace trouble with amsterdam or everything's not lost. Clocks, the scientist and yellow I agree will always be on the list but don't panic might become less of a priority as might GPASUYF...I I think those two will occasionally leave the setlist to be replaced by fresher singles. I also thing that they're going to drop square-one next tour because it would be absurd to have 3 intro songs. In my place will stay around though.
  22. What songs you interested in learning? I know trouble and clocks are all over you-tube...
  23. As for spies...he uses a glass bottle-neck slide and most of the time and in the album version he play the high e-string starting at the 9th fret sliding to the 11th fret and going back and forth. Now at the electric factory I saw him use the b-string and move between frets 14 and 16. He changes it up often, sliding a little higher or lower as he pleases.
  24. Okay. after watching a couple live performances of amsterdam it looks like he stays on the D-string and goes from fret 7 to 8 to 13 to 12 and repeats (four times) I think. I don't have an E-bow but that's what I see Jonny doing.
  25. I think the over-whelming display of neon colors goes a long way in capturringthe essence of the album itself. I think it's a pretty good video...or at least, one of the better coldplay music videos...they don't have terribly good videos really. don't panic, shiver and trouble(US) were cool. but the yellow video I thought was terrible. in my place was okay. GPASUYF was quite good, so was clocks and the scientist actually. fix you was only remotely interesting at the end. talk was okay and the hardest part is...well...hard to figure out what they were trying to do with that one.
