Are We Too Hard On X&Y?
Dito. AROBTH is so well liked in here that I almost want to not like it. X&Y was not as instantly enjoyable for me as AROBTTH or P was but after several listens I couldnt stop listening. I dont know why people dislike it so much, even after they have explained themselves I am still confused. I played album again today and I just dont get it. Hmmmmm

Yet another hint at a double album...

Coldplay on Virgin Radio UK June9th 2008

Simply stunning, Viva la Vida, as a track on it's own is incredible, romantic, rousing, tragic and totally Coldplay although very different. Strawberry Swing is wonderful, original, brave and in a word 'Sweet' Lost is a song with a strong almost RnB bassline (that I'm sure Chris went for) it's fresh, and unlike anything I've heard for a while. Lovers in Japan is worthy of soundtrack status.............. I could go on and I will when I have more time but I'm on air soon, gotta dash toodlepip LET US LISTEN!!!!

New York Entertainment bashes the Sun Review of VLV
http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2008/05/first_review_of_new_coldplay_a.html Are these guys jerks or what! They have taken a simple review and turned it into another vehical to bash Coldplay and their significance as a great musical act. I for one am sick of journalists using the popularity of artists to promote their useless rantings.

Billboard interview (scans)
thank you!
-
YES
It does sound different. But dang guys and gals its too little to actually hear. I cant for the life of me see how anyone can pass real judgement yet.

rank all vlv songs thus far
OK, Are you guys telling me you like Yes because you heard a 15 second clip on an interview? Or have you heard the entire song? I am confused... If you are baseing your opinion on the interview, HOW? You cant even hear the lyrics. Help me out on this. My fav's so far 1. Viva La Vida These next 3 are really a tie. They are all such great songs. Its hard to say which I like the best. Ii just depends on my mood at the time. If I had to put them in order, here goes. 2. A Spell A Rebel Yell (I know its a low quality download and a B-side) I love it anyway 3. Lost (accoustic) This song could become my favorite over time. 4. Life in Technicolor (Stop saying it doesnt have lyrics! The end has its only lyric and it is Oh oh oh oh, LOL) 5. Violet Hill I like this song but I dont LOVE it. I am shocked they released it first and I wonder if they intentionally released the weakest track on the album first. If it is the weakest track, then this will be an AMAZING album because the song is still pretty damn good. p.s. I have no opinions yet on Lovers in Japan or Yes. I am researving judgement until I here the highest quality full versions of these songs.

Viva La Vida Review From Alan Cross(see who he is inside)
zactly what I was thinking... Hmmm. Cool none the less, we are all excited!
-
YES
I agree. However, it does sound very different then Coldplay... I think that shows courage and artistic growth! How REFRESHING! Aside from what everyone seems to think is Lovers in Japan on Grey's Anatomy (I thinks its a "cast off" B-side), every bit I have heard so far has me STOKED!!!!! Come on July! Get here already...

I'm felling strange...
Im torn on the whole issue of wanting more leaks and not wanting any.... I agree that the album may lose a little of its lustre if there are anymore. I just wish I could pay $9.99 extra to get the whole album a week or two in advance! Id gladly pay a premium just to slide my knife across the tape that unlocks a freshly made, shiney new CD!!!!! And wouldnt it be a shock if the 2nd CD (named Death and All His Friends) inside was slap full of b-sides for us all! Oh but Im just dreaming aren't I? Or, maybe I unlocked the biggest puzzle of all. Hmmmm food for thought.

- Albums that have been released in 2008 that are worth hearing
In no order yet Smashing Pumpkins - American Gothic [EP] R.E.M. - Accelerate Elbow - Seldom Seen Kid The Dodos - Visiter The Virginia EP - The National And of course VIVA LA VIDA so far.... The single Viva La Vida is already one of my favorite Coldplay songs ever.... Cant wait for the whole experience and A Spell, A Rebel Yell is WAY under rated.- Albums of the Year: 2007 - Now Closed.
Where is The Boxer by The National? I can't believe it hasnt made the top ten?- Albums of the Year: 2007 - Now Closed.
The National! Underheard and Underated! The number one album of 2007 in my opinion is without a doubt THE BOXER by the band THE NATIONAL!!! That this album is not included on many of the members lists just blows my mind. Please seek out The Boxer NOW. Any true COLDPLAY fan will fall in love with it instantly. My Top 5 1) THE NATIONAL - THE BOXER 2) Arcade Fire - Neon Bible 3) Band of Horses - Cease to Begin 4) The Shins - Wincing the Night Away 5) U2 - Reissue of The Josua Tree!!! LOL love it... ;) MOST OVER RATED ALBUM OF 2007 LCD SOUNDSYSTEMS - SOUNDS OF SILVER... Whatever people - Albums that have been released in 2008 that are worth hearing
