  1. it was so bad... acting was terrible and the renditions of the songs changed so much to satisfy kids/teens today. the songs to me had a modern pop spin on them. growing up with the beatles for all my life, i can't like this movie/songs
  2. my comment on across the universe?
  3. true... but at least here is isn't during christmastime... or i don't associate hot/humid weather with it
  4. ha i wish that would work.
  5. ha good point. I found it a little weird to have this thread around, especially considering these last few days have been so hot/humid
  6. isn't it a bit late/early to bump this thread? I could even see it bumped in July (for christmas in July)
  7. no... I heard about it. I'd really like to see it. I'm always unsure about seeing Beatles related movies with different actors. I saw bits of Across the Universe and thought it was terrible.
  8. what annoys me outside of the lack of fixing the problem from the oil companies is how little the press are hounding obama about this. For Bush with Katrina they blamed so much on him regardless if katrina was a state issue primarily, and also that Bush visited the disaster site 2 days after. Obama on the other hand gets barely any flack from the media at all regardless of the fact that this is a federal (not state issue), and also how he waited 12 days to visit the site. I'm not saying I'm a Bush supporter (because I think he was a terrible president), but I think that it's unfair for the media to tear apart one party and leave the other one alone. make both parties accountable.
  9. Who here has seen them live? I saw them in 2007... they were so great!
  10. pizza looks good... how are the rest of the veggies coming along in the garden? congrats!!! I recently graduated myself. What are your future plans?
  11. The problem I have is that there have been so many oil spills in the past that these oil companies should have a better plan of attack in case something like this happens. As you can see from that maddow video they are using the same tactics they did decades ago, and not did those fail but also it was in so much more shallower water. I think this should be a wake up call to the people to let them see how we need to eventually get off oil (there's not an unlimited supply), but more importantly be more environmentally conscience. I'm not talking about global temperature changes (cooling/warming), but even picking up garage. We should treat the planet with respect because it is our home, and there is no other place for us to go.
  12. honestly i've only seen bits and pieces of it so i couldn't really say. you?
  13. same here. the singles were too hard to get/find
  14. it's good if you don't have the b-sides. i didn't buy them because i have all them already. instead i bought the live songs off itunes
  15. Just the song. I enjoyed it so much live I had to get it. How is the rest of the album
  16. i have an old keyboard that plays the beat to Combat Baby. I listened to combat baby for the first time yesterday (Well studio version), and I thought it was cool that I have the same instrument they used.
  17. there was much more information. they posted artwork, how sessions were going, what songs they worked on, pictures. now there's nothing. I see what you mean in the sense that they should take their time to make a great piece of music, but at the same time they are the type of band that obsess over songs too much. I mean recording sessions for In Rainbows started in early 2005, they scrapped it all started over and it wasn't until almost 3 years later that the album was released. I really wish that they would at least give us news as to what is going on. Or release a demo or a one off song (like harry patch/twisted words) to at least hold us over for a while
  18. once again another uninformative interview on band's progress. I really don't understand why they don't post anything related to the band on their blog anymore. No lyric snippits, no pictures, no updates on where they are, nothing. I get the impression that it won't be until at the very least 2011 for a new album (at the rate they take to record it might not be until 2012). Their manager mentioned that he doesn't know about an Atoms for Peace album for this year so clearly it is still in the works. I have this feeling that there will be a new Atoms for Peace album and tour before we get anything new from Radiohead. I hope that I'm wrong. edit: at least there are many more bands with albums/tours this year, and i'm not obsessed over the band (aka checking DAS every couple hours, or going on atease) as I was during the pre-in rainbows wait.
  19. I'm somewhat interested in hearing it to see what Phil's songwriting style is in terms of composition/lyrics/etc. However I did listen to the two songs he did of his own with 7 worlds collide. they were ok, but nothing that stuck out too much (i haven't listened to the songs in months) edit: on a side note also Radiohead's manager is going to be on BBC6 tomorrow announcing something (no idea if this is related to Phil, LP8, new record label, or other rumors floating around)
  20. i hope this doesn't mean that Radiohead LP8 will be pushed back because Phil will need to promote the new album. If that's the case I hope then the band members get this solo doing stuff out of their system (these next months or by the end of the year) and get back to Radiohead LP8. It's been 3 years since In Rainbows.
  21. they probably meant that he played with 7 worlds collide in 2001. also they have it wrong that the band are recording in LA... they are recording in Oxford
  22. details about Phil's solo album on NME: http://www.nme.com/news/radiohead/51334
  23. The Flaming Lips have something were they are giving away a chance for people to fly to bonnaroo and meet/interview the band
