well up until about 5 months before In Rainbows came out. I remember july/august of 2007 were so annoying because I was so excited for the new album but they rarely updated DAS. at that point i checked DAS a few times a day and I think there was a period they didn't update it in almost 6-7 weeks. also i emailed my motion graphics piece to be passed on to the band... hopefully they'll see it! :D

The Long and Winding Road is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Hey Jude is great too! What Goes On is terrible. I hate to say it but most of my least favorite are Ringo sung songs (No wonder Lennon/McCartney gave him those songs :P).

I totally agree... there are so many amazing albums out already (Beach House, BSS, The National, Broken Bell, and countless others). Also albums coming out (Arcade Fire, possibly U2, possibly Radiohead) ...and the year isn't even half way over. :D

Both Funeral and Neon Bible are great albums, but I'd have to agree with the general consensus in that I like funeral more. Also I'm obsessed with the song The Suburbs... I can't stop listening to it...haha! I think what really hooks me in besides the piano/guitar rhythm is the bass, and also the subtlety of the thermin/ondes sound during the chorus.

I remember I used to have a problem when I was in my early teens, but now it's fine.

yeah i'm surprised too that they haven't given any updates. I mean even if they didn't tell us, at least they could've been taking pictures or something. I think that they have been/are in the studio now (phil said they'd be recording in may). So hopefully they're progressing. But at this point I think that earliest we'll get a new album is the end of this year or next year. I do hope I'm wrong though.

why? sorry to hear that. my day was alright... did chores, and then relaxed. I guess i'm trying to enjoy the next few days as much as i can before i have to look for a job which will continue for pretty much the rest of my life.

good post briggins. I am similar to you in the sense that Coldplay was one of my favorite bands (if not my favorite at one point). I really got into them about 2-3 months before X&Y. I can't tell you how much i listened to that album. But after time of course I lost interest in the band (mainly because there was no new music), and I moved on to other newer/more active artists. They then came out with VLV, which I also found to be a huge disappointment. I even gave X&Y a listen again a few weeks after VLV and honestly I didn't find it that interesting anymore. I still consider myself a fan of the band, but I don't like them nearly as much as before. I came to this forum initially for the band, but also to get a chance to talk to other people about other music as well (like in the world of music area) I feel that it is stupid and completely ignorant to think that someone hates the band because they don't like an album. Even my favorite bands (The Beatles, Radiohead, Pink Floyd) have songs/albums that I don't like... does this not make me a fan?... not at all. It'd be a bit ridiculous to love every single song just because you love the band. Also I think that the whole biggest band argument is completely meaningless. For argument sake if Coldplay were "the biggest band" in the world what would that mean? I mean it's not as if they get a trophy or it will convince me to like songs/albums i don't care for. Even if you say more successful, to me it means nothing because I don't base what I listen to off of records or sales or how much money they make, but off of what I like. I also think that although many may listen to Coldplay and love them, that it's also good to expand your horizons and listen to other music. Now I know that some may say how I always talk about Radiohead or mention them, and yes it is true that I do it quite a bit but that doesn't mean that they are the only band I listen to 24/7. There are so many other bands out there to listen to, and it's good to listen to other things because I feel that certain bands/albums I've listened to so many times that now I don't listen to them anymore (X&Y, The Who, etc). I like Coldplay quite a bit. I've seen them live more than any other artist (5 times). I feel though that their last two albums are much weaker than their first two albums and that they have lost their way. I think that they have become too commercial and care more about the show rather than the music. That's just my opinion.
