well said. particuarly with the jonny part. I mean Jonny Greenwood is a genius with his various musical playing abilities and also his composing (composing for Bodysong and There Will Be Blood are great). I think that Jonny Buckland is good for the band but I don't think he's really that great. I mean I remember hailing him as the Greatest guitarist in the world, but when you hear his solo's I find that they are more riffs than a solo because they tend to repeat themselves. that's why I find Jonny to be my least favorite member of coldplay. After listening to this new album I think that Coldplay are heading towards a better direction. I really like how the songs are very different from one another and that they incorporate different instruments within the album. For me I think the reason why I like bands like The Beatles (Help! and on), Radiohead, and Beck so much is that each album is different than the other one, which gives more of a variety, so if you aren't in the mood to hear one album another album can compinsate. I'm glad of the direction Coldplay is going and I think that they are heading in the right direction.

i think that this song is my favorite song off the album. I feel that it is composed excellantly.

here's what i think of it Life in Technocolor-8.5 Cemetaries of London- 9.0 Lost!-9.5 42-10 Lovers in Japan- 10 Reign of Love-10 Yes-9.5 Chinese Sleep Chant-8.0 Viva La Vida-10 Violet Hill-7.5 Strawberry Swing-9.5 Death and All His Friends-10 The Escapist-9.0 For me I find this to be a solid album. I still have to listen to it a bit more and also give time to full decide the impact of this album (like x&y i thought was great at first but now it's my least favorite album by them). Overall Album Rating- 8.5-9/10 (it'll probably increase with more listens) My favorite song on this album would have to be "Death and all His Friends"... it's just so good melodically and I personally think that this song is one of the best songs that they have written. What i feel about this song is that he's singing about how he doesn't want to die ("i don't want to fallow death and all of his friends"), but then he does die and we see him raising from the dead with the escapist with ("and in the end we lie awake and dream of making our escape")

i can't wait for tomorrow just to see what songs they might play. i know i'm not gonna see them until august, but i'm excited to see new youtube vids of songs they have not done yet (hopefully 4 minute warning, ditnu, and more) ...also briggins are you gonna be continuing the radiohead b-sides vote thing?

does anyone/has anyone been able to figure out the chords or how to play "death and all his friends"? if so what are the chords

what about b-sides for the singles... and also all of the songs not included (famous old painters, leftrightleftrightleftright, glass of water, poppy fields, etc)?

i'm listening to the stream of the album... i couldn't help myself (and i figure that i've already heard bits and pieces), i'm up to Lost!... really good. Cemetaries of London was also really good too

yeah, for me he is by far my most influencial/favorite musician of all time. I was actually able to go to strawberry fields on the 25th anniversary from his death (since i don't live far from there), and it was both amazing to see how many people showed up but also upsetting to know that he is dead.

personally i liked Coldplay first and for some time, but then I just got into Radiohead and since then I don't like coldplay as much. I mean they have some really good songs. x&y used to be my favorite album by them and i listened to the album so much, but now listening to it i can only listen to a few songs (square one, talk and x&y). I find that their songs are very similar. What i like about radiohead is that alot of their albums and songs are different from one another (with the exception of pablo honey). I also think that musicially they are superior in how they compose songs taking them to the next level by adding many parts to them. don't get me wrong i still really like coldplay, just not as much as Radiohead

so then are they playing at Madison Square Garden theatre or MSG because they are 2 different things... if it's msg theatre... i can see the 3500 winners, but i thought they're playing @ MSG which holds alot more than 7,000 people (2 people per winner [3500]) ...i'm hoping it's not the theatre because the it'll increase the chances of winning

thanks! listening to it... obviously chris was nervous and his singing was a bit off, but then again it was their first real performance in a while. I think that they still did a great job with the song. I consider this performance almost something to get their "feet wet" and get the band more used to playing live... so overall a really good performance! :)
