So I'm sitting here and listening to the new album, and I have to say that The Escapist just blew me away. I had downloaded the leaked version, but for some reason, this song never hit me properly until I had the actual album in my ipod. Chris's vocals are just amazing on this track. It's a great finish to a great album.

Apparently the first part of the song (the bit with Jonny and Chris) was called 'School' and was originally the intro to 'Rainy Day'. The first bit (I think) was written eight months apart from the last bit. Check out this interview...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfvZaTfY4PI.

I've just been to a party. I've had a fair bit to drink but not enough for me to not remember anything, so I'll remember this thread. Anyway, I spent about 5 minutes on an empty park at midnight screaming the chorus of this song. It has helped me in life a great deal. Anybody else? I mean.. I don't actually cry but toward the part at the very end at 5:55 (off the Death and all his friends track) When he starts going "ooooooo" Ahhh! its so sad! lol Anybody else get sad when they listen to this song?

When Viva la Vida came out, Lost! was my favorite song; loved it. Then I went to Coldplay's concert in SLC and when they played Death and All of His Friends, it became my fav. It was amazing! The song just gets you going, builds you up, and does not let you down (none of Coldplays songs do).

Last night they showcased Life in Technicolor as the background music for a Michael Phelps fluff piece...and tonight DaaHF was played for Kerri Walsh/Misty May-Treanor just now on NBC! :laugh3: It's great to see the songs get such wonderful primetime exposure, even if brief :D

Why am I asking this? Here is the reason: Can anyone tell me if after the last "So come over, just be patient and don't worry..." when piano begins... DOES ANYONE HEAR BELLS PLAYING?????? right when i first heard "daahf" i recognised the melody from something else...and now after listening a few times im sure it's melody is alot like that of "waterloo sunset" by the kinks......just the intro piano bit of "daahf" is it just me? or do they sound a bit alike?

Tell me please what do you think about this.... is just a thought but in my opinion "The Escapist" closes a circle begun with "Life In Technicolor". In the middle of this two songs the rest of the album songs wants to explain a history, to say finally that this history is a dream, and that in the end, we lie awake and dream of making our escape. A scape to a better place. That two songs are more important than they seem (=esas dos canciones son mas importantes de lo que parecen, i said it in spanish again because I don't know if I said it correctly) I love that ending, a little bit sad but I like it a lot.

Ok so I was thinking, what if the escapist had more lyrics? Even though it is a great song as it is I thought what if we could put a few more lyrics to it. If anyone is interested, go ahead and post.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why I'm not seeing Death and all its friends/ escapist on the setlists for the first few shows. You simply cannot have a song so epic and beautiful (not to mention completely ball-shattering the way Johnny, Will, and Guy play) and not melt faces with it live! I'm absolutely befuddled and very afraid that I'm not going to hear my favorite song off the new album in San Jose on 7/18!

... Is one of the best pieces of music on the album, in my opinion. Its an exhilarating and spine-tingling moment. I love how you can hear the other 3 guys belting out the "recycled revenge" line... in fact, I find that I had to strain my ears to hear Chris' voice. But its fantastic. Who else agrees?

In the Escapist, are the lyrics 'And, in the end, we lie awake and we dream of making our escape' Or is it 'And, in the end, we lie awake and we dream we'll make an escape' ? I thought it was the former (also much better, in my opinion), but the Coldplaying Wiki indicates otherwise...
