  2. I agree w/ the talk about a Floyd vibe. Also the songs reminds me of Bowies Space Oddity too
  3. I'd imagine they'd do a fall tour. seems a bit silly to me to prepare time getting songs together to play at Glastonbury and FTB, and not do some shows
  4. Chris Martin probably shat himself when he heard Yellow sung by Bono
  5. there's pictures here!! http://www.tom-horton.co.uk/blog/2011/06/24/radiohead-glastonbury-2011-photos/ http://blackstarinrainbows.tumblr.com/
  6. those English folk need to upload videos STAT!
  7. 2 hours until they go on! can't wait to see what the setlist will be!
  8. not being at Glastonbury (since RH is apparently playing there)
  9. ^that sucks :( I'm really excited to see what their setlist will be
  10. I actually really liked the song quite a bit. By far my favorite of all the new songs they've played (including ones live).
  11. bah... why am I not at that festival :bigcry:
  12. I think that AROBTTH was the end of their great era. From there they just went downhill. I still enjoy X&Y, but not nearly as much as I used to. To be honest I say most recent being since VLV. Ever since Violet Hill was released as a first single I've been disappointed in the band. I really dislike the song and hearing that was the beginning of the end to me liking them. Actually I do consider Everything's Not Lost and Yellow to be well written. Maybe not lyrically fully (though it's not as horrendous as ETIAW), but in terms of arrangement and melody they are truely great songs! I'll say it once and I'll continue to say it. Coldplay works and sounds best when they have less going on. I mean just listen to a song like Trouble and the VLV and it's almost a joke. It seems to me the band is trying to hard to make big songs, when I feel if they made simpler and more stripped down songs it'd sound better. ...but that's just my opinion.
  13. I understand what you've said and I think you make some good points. The issue that I have with the band is a bunch of things. Firstly... they seem to be trying to appeal to a very specific crowd with certain songs and in my eyes just want to be extremely popular. Secondly... yes I'll give them credit in changing up their sound, but I personally feel they are trying too hard to be different. It's almost as if they feel they have to prove themselves or make a statement to be different like so many bands. To me it just feels like they are less worried about the quality of their songs in exchange for fame. I mean I was listening to them playing Trouble live from one of the threads. And it sounded so good! Why can't they write or record songs like that? I mean not necessarily the same sound, but strip things down.... take it down a notch. I used to love this band. I'm not just trying to jump on the bandwagon for the sake of doing so. I feel I try to give the band a chance. But they have let me down in that I don't really know what they are doing or trying to achieve any more (besides fame). Sadly to say it's turned me off from the band and I haven't been extremely excited to hear any new songs. So I think in some sense you really can't blame people for being annoyed at the band or how it seems they are trying to emulate other bands.
  14. it's really a shame to see them play the new songs and then a song like Trouble again. How people can like the new songs more or think they are better written is beyond me.
  15. that's what I call music... it's great to hear them play that again
  16. how dare you talk about lexus that way!
  17. but "basic" is what worked best for the band. I wouldn't even call it primative. Because it was their stripped down and basic arrangement that worked best w/ the band IMO. I still think AROBTTH was their best work and they'll never top that, but Parachutes comes in close behind. The song that I think comes closest to their old sound is Prospekts March... I think it's a great track and which they had more recent songs like that
  18. I still think they're trying way too hard to produce something.
  19. fixed yeah I agree. it has U2 written all over it, especially w/ the guitar
  20. They've been past their prime for over nearly 10 years
  21. Getting put on the payroll for my internship, and also getting my ticket to see Paul McCartney in the mail! :D
  22. here's my take from the WoM I like the song more than ETIAW... then again I'd like almost anything more than that. But I really hate that distorted vocals. Also I really don't like the melody of the verses and the lyrics... I find it to be a bit annoying to be honest. I do like the chorus bit somewhat. But to me this song has U2 written all over it. Also his vocals during the bridge is extremely annoying how high up he gets. The song is mediocre. Not a huge fan of it, but it's not horrible. I'd give the song a 4/10
